W.H. 'Wolley' Dierschke
ROWENA - W.H. Dierschke, 86, of Rowena died Tuesday at a Ballinger nursing home.
A rosary and vigil service will be at 7:30 tonight at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the same church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home of Ballinger.
Mr. Dierschke was born in Runnels County. He married Rosalie Glass in 1939 at St. Joseph's Church and they lived on a farm near Rowena all their married life. He devoted his life to his family, farm and religion. He was a member of St. Joseph Church and an honorary member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife, Rosalie Dierschke; three sons, Daniel Dierschke of Austin, Eugene Dierschke of Dallas and Ray Dierschke of Rowena; two daughters, Joyce Braden of Midkiff and Sharon Lange of San Angelo; two sisters, Eleanor Braden of Rowena and Irene Bruchmiller of Ballinger and 17 grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.

Mr. L.M. Burney
BROWNWOOD - L.M. Burney, 78, died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Scott officiating. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Faulkenbury Cemetery in Groesbeck directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr Burney was born in Limestone County. He married Metta Byrd in 1943 in Groesbeck. He owned a wholesale sporting goods company and ranched in Brown and Mills counties. He moved to Brownwood in 1982 and was a longtime former resident of Lemesa. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Metta Burney of Brownwood; one son, L.M. Burney, Jr. of Brownwood; two daughters, Metta Collier of Stephenville and Betsy Adams of Lubbock; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Doyle Keeler
BROWNWOOD - Doyle Keeler, 86, died Tuesday in his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd Hagemeier officiating. Burial will be at Eastlawn Memorial Park directed by the funeral home.
Mr. Keeler was born in Brown County. He moved to Brownwood in 1977. He was a retired building contractor He married Eula Parker Sneed who preceded him in death and then married Corene Cozby in 1977 in Oklahoma.
Mr. Keeler was a member of the Central United Methodist Church and of the Early Lions Club. He was chosen Lion of the Year in 1997.
Survivors include his wife Corere Keeler of Brownwood; one stepson, Jerry Cozby of Bartlesville, Okla.; two sisters, Tula Pitts of Brownwood and Oleta Tuman of Longbeach, Calif.; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church.

Robert F. Lakatta
Robert F. Lakatta, 73, died Wednesday at his home in Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South, with the Rev. H.B. Terry Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Lakatta was born in Uniontown, Pa., and moved to Abilene 30 years ago. He retired from the U.S. Air Force at Dyess AFB in 1968. He also retired from civil service as a golf course manager.
He married Rose Wrona in Shoaf, Pa., in 1946. He was Catholic and a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Lakatta of Abilene; a son, Alan Lakatta of Arlington; a daughter, Jo Ann Stone of San Antonio; two sisters, Eleanor Di Cassio and Annette Marsico, both of Pennsylvania, and four grandchildren.

William Arthur Fowler
William Arthur Fowler, 76, retired Lt. Col., died Tuesday as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident in Eastland.
Services are at 10 a.m. Saturday at Southwest Park Baptist Church with the Rev. Mick Woodard officiating. Burial with full military honors will be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Fowler was born in Birmingham, Ala., where he graduated from high school before entering military service. After a 33-year career in the U.S. Air Force, he retired in 1969. He was a B-52 command pilot. He moved to Abilene from Roswell, N.M., in 1964.
Mr. Fowler married Marjorie Stallworth in Chicago in 1943 and was a member of the Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Stallworth Fowler of Abilene; a son, the Rev. Art Fowler of Valdese, N.C.; two daughters Ann Myatt of Lynwood, Wash., and Bether Penney of Haltom City; a brother, Jack Fowler of Montgomery, Ala.; a sister, Ruth Sisson of Iowa, and six grandchildren.

Edwin N. Cornett
EARLY - Edwin N. Cornett, 44, of Lewisville, formerly of Brownwood, died Tuesday in Plano.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with Ed Ethridge officiating. Burial will be in the Bangs Cemetery directed by the funeral home.
Mr. Cornett was born in Slayton and was a resident of Lewisville for the past two years. He lived most of his life in Brown County. He was a truck driver and a Baptist.
Survivors include five brothers, Donald Cornett of Rising Star, Larry Cornett of Gorman, Freddie Cornett of Comanche, Douglas Cornett of Blanket and David Cornett of Lewisville; two sisters, Laura Yager of Belton and Marllyn McCutcheon of San Angelo; many aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews and cousins.

William 'Bill' Helm
COLORADO CITY - Mr. William "Bill" Helm, 84, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Tim Temple officiating.
Mr. Helm was born in Austin and was a member of the Abilene Bible Church. He was self-employed as owner of Helm wheel alignment until retierment in 1988. Mr. Helm married Marguerite Helm in 1946 in Abilene and has been a resident of Colorado City since 1947.
Survivors include his wife, Marguerite Helm of Colorado City; two daughters, Jessica Bassham of Colorado City and Cornelia Langridge of Houston; five sons, Austin and Craig Helm, both of Colorado City, Marshall and David Helm, both of Abilene, and Daniel Helm of San Angelo; one sister, Evelyn Gorham of Austin; one brother, David Helm of San Angelo, and 19 grandchildren.

Loreta Allen Kelley
STEPHENVILLE - Loreta Allen Kelley, 83, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Graham Street Church of Christ. Burial will be at 3 p.m. at Killeen Memorial Park in Killeen directed by the funeral home. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kelley was born in Erath County. She married Harrell Kelley in 1966 and he preceded her in death. She was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ.
She was a retired County Home Demonstration Agent for Jones, Taylor and Callahan counties and a retired school teacher. She taught in Comanche County and in Killeen. She was also a member of the Retired Teachers and Retired Home Economics Associations. She lived in Killeen from 1966 moving to Stephenville in 1981.
Survivors include one brother, Charles Allen of Stephenville; two sisters, Juanita Ramseur of Lingleville and Mary Tarver of Gorman; two nieces, six great-nieces, four nephews and five great-nephews.

Parke D. Evers
MCGREGOR - Parke D. Evers, 88, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, 500 South Madison, with the Revs. Stephen Soulen and Bruce Baker officiating. Burial will be in McGregor Cemetery directed by Cole Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.
Mr. Evers was a longtime McGregor druggist and father of former Abilene resident and McMurry University Alumni Association Board of Directors member Dale Evers. He was born in Ladonia and moved to McGregor in 1909. He was a 1927 graduate of McGregor High School.
Mr. Evers joined the McGregor Fire Department in 1928 and was Fire Chief from 1937 to 1958. He married Raye Juanita Laughlin of Moody in 1939 and served in the U.S. Army in 1943. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in McGregor.
Survivors include his wife, Raye Evers of Waco, and a son, Dale Evers of McGregor.
