Ruth Pauline Bien
BROWNWOOD - Ruth Pauline Bien, 74, died Wednesday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Bien was born in Elkins, Texas, and lived in Brownwood most of her life. She worked as a nurse's aide. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Lonnie Lester Bien, whom she married in 1940 in Elkins County.
Survivors include one son, R.L. Bien of Boerne; one daughter, Cheryl Ruth Sanson of Thorsby, Ala.; one brother, John Goins of Brownwood; two sisters, Evelyn Cole and Cora Egger, both of Brownwood; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Wanda Jean Mills
Wanda Jean Mills, 70, of Merkel, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Pioneer Cemetery in Balko, Okla. with the Rev. Bill Sherral officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Mills was born in McAlester, Okla., and graduated from Morton High School. She was a homemaker. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Gordon E. Mills, whom she married in 1944 in Morton.
Survivors include one son, Elbert Mills of Merkel; two daughters, Les Raymond of Abilene and Jacque Mills of Merkel; three brothers, Finis Bogard of San Antonio, Tommy Bogard of Abilene and Galen Bogard of Baird; five sisters, Wilma Coppock, Vivian Cook and Pat Hurt, all of Merkel, Cora Dozal of Granbury and Becky Bogard of Boulder, Colo.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Lula Rice
Lula Rice, 84, of Callahan County, died Thursday in a Clyde nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Eula Cemetery with the Rev. Randy Hatfield officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Rice was born in Callahan County, where she was a lifelong resident, and was a homemaker. She was a member of Clyde Senior Citizens and worked with the nursery at Cherry Heights Baptist Church in Clyde.
Survivors include one son, Gil Rice of Abilene; two sisters, Ellen Hicks of Clyde and Edna Barrington of Abilene; four brothers, Hiram Cook of Clyde, Carl Cook of Garland, Raymond Cook of Friona and R.E. "Corky" Cook of Wichita Falls; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Iris Pardue
BAIRD - Iris (Mrs. David) Pardue, 83, died Thursday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with Gary Williams officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Pardue was born in San Angelo and grew up in Oplin. She married David Pardue in 1955 in Abilene and was a homemaker. She lived in Abilene for 30 years before moving to Baird in 1983. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Clark of Baird; one foster daughter, Margie Carruth of Conroe; three foster sons, N.T. "Red" Cochran of Duncanville, Jerry Cochran of Conroe and Kerry Cochran of Deer Park; one sister, Viola Preston of Dudley; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and one nephew.

Bettie Louise Van Cleave
RULE - Bettie Louise Van Cleave, 87, of Abilene and formerly of Rule, died Friday in a Stamford nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Robison Funeral Directors.
Ms. Van Cleave was born in Rule, where she graduated from high school, and moved to Abilene in 1957. She worked as a sales clerk at Abilene Drug for 17 years and was a Methodist.
Survivors include four cousins.

Roy Hart
BROWNWOOD - Roy J. Hart, 68, of Lake Brownwood, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Hart was born in Salasar, Okla., and married Rachel Anderson in 1966 in Mexico. He worked as a musician and moved to Brownwood in 1977. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Lake Brownwood; three sons, Gary Hart, Larry Hart and John Hart, all of California; one stepdaughter, Virginia Hogue of Lake Brownwood; two stepsons, Marshal Hogue of Houston and Al Hogue of Abilene; four sisters; 20 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Melva Sue Jackson
Melva Sue Jackson, 54, lifelong Abilene resident, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in City Cemetery with the Rev. David Cason officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Jackson was born in Abilene, where she attended school, and married Henry Jackson in 1971 in Abilene. She was a homemaker and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two daughters, Julia Hilley and Virginia Ann Jackson, both of Abilene; two brothers, Robert Hardin of San Angelo and Ray Hardin of Clyde; one sister, Virginia Meyers of Abilene; and five grandchildren.

James William Landis
James William Landis, 89, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Woodlawn Church of Christ with Dr. Phil Slate and Paul Landis Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Landis was born in Morgan County, Ohio, and graduated from high school in Zanesville, Ohio. He worked for Goodyear Aircraft in Phoenix, Ariz. during World War II. He also worked for the Times Recorder in Zanesville, Ohio for many years and in the mailroom and receiving department of the Houston Chronicle for 12 years. He moved to Abilene in 1980 from Houston. He was a member of Woodlawn Church of Christ and was the widower of Helen B. Hall Landis, whom he married in 1927 in Zanesville, Ohio.
Survivors include one son, Paul Landis Sr. of Abilene; one daughter, Rebecca Christian of Houston; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Dean Allen
Dean Allen, 60, owner of Dean's Auto Clean-Up Shop for several years, died Thursday in Abilene.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ash Street Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Jiles and Otis Wiley officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mr. Allen was born in Hubbard, where he attended school, and moved to Taylor County about 40 years ago. He was a deacon at Goodwill Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Roderic Jackson of Fort Hood, Stanley Thompson of Abilene and Duran Allen of Dallas; two daughters, Sheila Wilson of California and Tonette Williams of Fort Polk, La.; five sisters, Effie Brewster and Bettie Sneed, both of Abilene, Doris Oates of Amarillo, Ruby Dickerson of Wichita Falls and Murlene Whitson of Austin; four brothers, Donald Allen of Dallas, Steve Allen of Abilene, Robert Allen of Arizona and Alvin Allen of Grand Prairie; and several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
The family will be at 1701 Pasadena Drive.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
