John Winn
John B. Winn, 92, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. B.W. Briggs officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Winn was born in Farmington, Ark., and moved to Abilene in 1923. He married Ruby Alena Whitley in 1942 in Goldsboro and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a retired carpenter and painter and was a member of Northpark Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, J.C. Winn of Amarillo; two daughters, Nina Jo Ann Carter of Fort Worth and Doris Minchey of Cleburne; two stepsons, Jack Whitley of Iraan and Joe Whitley of Big Lake; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and one step great-great-grandchild.

Terri Nielsen
SAN ANGELO - Teresa 'Terri' Kim Nielsen, 36, formerly of Abilene, died Thursday at her home after a bout with cancer.
Services were held Saturday in Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Boggess officiating. Burial was in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
Ms. Nielsen was born in Groom and graduated from Littlefield High School. She worked at newspapers in Lamb County and Levelland, and later was editor of Anton's weekly newspaper. She was employed by the Abilene Reporter-News as a compositor and was a volunteer tour guide at the Abilene Zoo. She moved to San Angelo in 1989 and worked at the San Angelo Standard-Times until her illness. She was a member of Abilene Humane Society and Harriett Baptist Church.
Survivors include her parents, Roger and Oveta Nielsen of San Angelo, and Trent and Willa Bolin of Texhoma, Okla.; one sister, Vivian Drullard of Vernon, Fla.; three brothers, Randy Nielsen of Seminole, Kevin Nielsen of San Angelo and Darrell Nielsen of Lubbock; her grandparents, Clarence Garman of Clarendon, and Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Nichols of Portland, Ore.; six nieces and two nephews; and one aunt and one uncle.

Valetta Earlene Rogers
ATHENS, Texas - Valetta Earlene Rogers, 64, relative of three Big Country residents, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services with Order of Eastern Star rites will be at 2 p.m. today in Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Grover C. Bishop officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery near Bronte.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Wilmeth and married Lonnie Ray Rogers in 1950. She was a homemaker and moved to Athens in 1966. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star since 1962.
Survivors include her husband, of Athens; one son, Gerald Rogers of Ira; one daughter, Renetta Boyd of Joshua; her mother, Mavis Parish of Abilene; one sister, Elaine Ballard of Abilene; five grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Nancy Marie Field
SPRINGLAKE - Nancy Marie (Mrs. Arden) Field, 46, whose husband grew up in Abilene, died Thursday in Springlake after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Springlake First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Riling and Denny Sneed officiating. Burial will be in Springlake Cemetery, directed by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Home of Olton.
Mrs. Field was born in Salina, Kan., and married Arden Field in 1974 in Clovis, N.M. She moved to Springlake in 1974 from Clovis, N.M., and worked as a secretary for Bridges Feedyard.
Survivors include her husband, of Springlake; one son, A.J. Field of Springlake; three daughters, Tami Herriage of Sunnyside, Texas, Christi Quinn of Fort Sumner, N.M., and Kim Field of Canyon; her father and stepmother, Bill and Charlotte Moore of Denver; three brothers, Bill Moore Jr. of Castlerock, Colo., Richard Moore of Como, Colo., and Brent Moore of Washington, D.C.; and four grandchildren.

James Robert 'J.R.' Hancock
PLAINVIEW - James Robert "J.R." Hancock, 68, formerly of the Big Country, died Saturday in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Southside Assembly of God with the Rev. R.T. Havener and James Jones officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park, directed by Lemons Funeral Home.
Mr. Hancock was born in Wingate and graduated from Abilene Wylie High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and returned to Abilene in 1949. He married Dorothy Webster in 1950 in Abilene and moved to Dodge City, Kan. in 1951. He worked at W.W. Manufacturing Co. before serving again with the U.S. Navy during the Korean conflict. He moved to Plainview in 1954 from Tulia and co-owned and operated Hi Plains Pipeline until 1970. He then worked as a driver for W.W. Manufacturing Co., W.R. Grace & Co., and Steere Tanker Lines until retiring in 1990. He coached Little League baseball for many years and was a member of Southside Assembly of God.
Survivors include his wife, of Plainview; one daughter, Sharon Shipley of Plainview; two sons, Randy Hancock of Lockney and Russell Hancock of Euless; two sisters, Betty Edmondson and Jeanette Parris, both of Abilene; and eight grandchildren.

Jesse Carl Stewart
BROWNWOOD - Jesse Carl Stewart, 85, lifelong Brown County resident, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Salt Creek Cemetery in Brown County with the Rev. Grady Chastain officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Stewart was born at Salt Creek in Brown County and worked as a carpenter.
Survivors include two sons, Sammie Stewart of Blanket and Henry Stewart of Abilene; three daughters, Carol Ann Stewart of Brownwood, Patty Magee of Brookesmith and Vicki Green of Santa Anna; one stepdaughter, Phyllis Barnum of Shawnee, Okla.; one brother, Ray Stewart of Brownwood; one sister, Beatrice Allen of Brownwood; one half-brother and one half-sister; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4 to 5 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Hazel Fillpot
LAMESA - Hazel Fillpot, 87, mother of an Abilene resident, died Friday in Lamesa after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Crestview Baptist Church with Pat Githens and Clifton Igo officiating. Burial will be in Lamesa Memorial Park, directed by Branon Funeral Home.
Mrs. Fillpot was born in Orth, Texas, and married George Fillpot in 1925 in Lamesa. She moved to Dawson County in 1925 from Young County and was a member of Crestview Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Lamesa; two daughters, Betty McCowan of Lamesa and Doris Jay of Abilene; two sons, Jim Fillpot of San Angelo and Emy Fillpot of Round Rock; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

Juanita Strange
BROWNWOOD - Juanita S. Strange, 88, died Friday in De Soto.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Rocky Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Strange was born in McAlester, Okla., and married Mitchell A. Strange in 1967 in Midland. She was a homemaker and moved to Brownwood in 1979. She was a member of Sunset Baptist Mission.
Survivors include two daughters, Ramona Wetzel of Boerne and Jackie Dempsey of Duncanville; three stepdaughters, Wanda Kay Ticer, Betty DeBold and Linda Johnson, all of Houston; two stepsons, Buddy Strange of Houston and Billy Wayne Strange of Louisiana; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one niece.
Memorials may be sent to Brownwood First Baptist Missions.
Visitation will be from 6 -7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Justus Ray Castillo
Lilian Lee and Justus Ray Castillo, infant twins of Ray David and Rosa Carrillo Castillo, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories with the Rev. David Matz officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.
The twins were born in Abilene.
Survivors include their parents; grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. David G. Castillo of Abilene; and great-grandmothers Maria Garcia of Abilene and Marcelina Castillo of Aransas Pass.
The family will be at the funeral home today from 1 p.m. until service time.
