Bonnie 'Granny' Ridling
RANGER - Bonnie "Granny" Ridling, 81, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Eastside Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Speer and Larry Linam officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ridling was born in Ranger, where she attended school, and lived in the Ranger area all her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She married Walter Ridling in 1961 in Hobbs, N.M.
Survivors include her husband, of Ranger; two daughters, Barbara Ann Milam of Fort Worth and Sue Stuard of Ranger; one son, Jimmy Dale Rogers of Houston; two brothers, Red Mathis of Amarillo and D.L. Mathis of Rendon; one sister, Katherine Smith of Kenmore; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

William Ward
FLUSHING, N.Y. - William Bery Ward, 78, died Thursday after a brief illness.
Services were at Transfiguration Catholic Church. Burial was in Long Island National Cemetery.
Mr. Ward was born in Lamar County, Tex., and grew up in Roscoe. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from an electric company. He married Katherine Dell in 1945 in Brooklyn.
Survivors include his wife, of Flushing; one daughter, Janet Keil of Pleasantville, N.Y.; one son, Barry Ward of Virginia; two brothers, Hollis Ward and Jimmy Ward, both of Snyder; and two sisters, Cleola Myers of Hyatsville, Md., and Dycie Kemp of Snyder.

Verlene Bedford
FORT WORTH - Verlene Bedford, 78, formerly of Abilene, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at noon today in Laurel Land Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bedford lived in Abilene for 25 years and worked as a secretary for H.C. Zachary and Associates, Herald of Truth and York Christian College Foundation in Abilene until retiring. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ in Abilene.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Robbins of Irving and Marolyn McCreery of Fort Worth; one sister, Oleta Zimmerman of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and three nieces and two nephews.

Theresa Kathleen Taylor Janca
PORTLAND, Ore. - Theresa Kathleen Taylor Janca, 38, formerly of Abilene, died Monday in a local hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Jackson Baptist Church in Portland. Arrangements are being made by Autumn Burial & Cremation.
Mrs. Janca was born in Orlando, Fla., and graduated from Cooper High School in Abilene in 1976. She attended the University of Oklahoma and married David Janca in 1986. She worked as a paralegal in Oklahoma City, Chicago, Abilene, San Francisco and Portland. She moved to Portland in 1995 and was a member of Jackson Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Portland; one daughter, Nicole Janca of Portland; one son, Adam Janca of Portland; her parents, Kathleen Taylor of Portland and Terrance Taylor of Abilene; two brothers, Scott Taylor of Rocky Mount, N.C., and David Taylor of Abilene; one sister, Heidi Rains of Abilene; her maternal grandmother, Hartha Hopkins of Portland; and one niece and six nephews.

Julia Basquez
BROWNWOOD - Julia D. Basquez, 76, lifelong local resident, died Monday in a local hospital.
Mass will be said at 2 p.m. today in St. Mary's Catholic Church with the Rev. Austin Hermann officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Basquez was born in Melvin, Texas. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and was the widow of Felipe J. Basquez.
Survivors include three sons, Jose Basquez of Fort Worth, Jesse Basquez of Brownwood and Johnny Basquez of Greeley, Colo.; two daughters, Julie Ann Gilbert of Bangs and Rosie Maestas of Brownwood; one brother, Miquel DeLeon of Comanche; one sister, Anastacia Costilla of Petersburg; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

C.D. 'Jimmy' Mayfield
SWEETWATER - C.D. "Jimmy" Mayfield, 71, charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Baptist Church with Dr. Travis Monday and the Revs. Malcolm Brown and Orvel Brantley officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Garden of Memories, directed by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mr. Mayfield was born in Roby and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Patsy Mercer in 1947 in Sweetwater and was a retired switchman and brakeman of Texas & Pacific Railroad.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; three sons, Eddy Mayfield and Rex Mayfield, both of Sweetwater, and David Mayfield of Fredericksburg; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Trinity Baptist Church, P.O. Box 908, Sweetwater 79556.
Visitation will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Pattie Flippen Smith
COLEMAN - Pattie Flippen Smith, 89, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Coleman, where she graduated from high school in 1926, and was a homemaker. She also was a rancher and oil and gas operator in the Coleman area and on the Flippen Ranch near Albany. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was the widow of Terry B. Smith, whom she married in 1938 in Coleman.
Survivors include one sister, Greta Flippen Ellis of Dallas; five nephews and two nieces; and several great nephews, great nieces, great great nephews and great great nieces.
Memorials may be sent to First Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Ruby Price
LUEDERS - Ruby J. Price, 93, died Tuesday in an Abilene nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Lueders United Methodist Church with the Rev. Mark Chadwick officiating. Burial will be in Clear Fork Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson.
Mrs. Price was born in Hutto and moved to Lueders in 1912. She worked in the Lueders-Avoca school cafeteria before retiring. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Guy Price, whom she married in 1925 in Lueders.
Survivors include one daughter, Maxine Force of Las Vegas, Nev.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
