James Williams
ASPERMONT -- James Williams, 81, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Macedonia Baptist Church with the Revs. Patricia Turner and Sammy Wade officiating. Burial will be in Aspermont Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams was born in Calvert and married Wydell Brock in 1941 in Lubbock. He retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Aspermont; one daughter, Elnora Devers of Aspermont; and one sister, Belle Marton of Houston.

Joy Rogers
BRECKENRIDGE -- Joy F. Rogers, 77, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Breckenridge First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Harper officiating. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rogers was born in Ballinger and was a homemaker. She was a member of Martha Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and was the widow of Ray L. Rogers, whom she married in 1936 in Stamford.
Survivors include one daughter, Raylene Knight of Cedartown, Ga.; one son, Dick Rogers of Graham; one sister, Jewell Loraine McIlroy of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, First Baptist Church Bates Chapel or American Cancer Society and left at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Joe Montgomery
Joe Montgomery, 82, died Monday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Louis Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Montgomery was born in Slaton and moved in the early 1920s to Abilene, where he attended school. He farmed from 1931-40 and married Mary Gertrude Adams in 1937 in Abilene. He served with the 131st Field Artillery before being transferred to the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942. He was a bombardier instructor at Gowen Field in Boise, Idaho, and was in the Air Force Reserve until retiring in 1976. He worked in the refrigeration service business until retiring in 1983. He was a member of Knights of Pythias, Abilene Lodge 42; and North Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Gerald E. Montgomery of Houston and David Montgomery of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; one nephew; and several cousins.

Maxlee Ravenscraft
Maxlee Ravenscraft, 74, died Monday in a local nursing home.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Mike Martin officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan.
Mrs. Ravenscraft was born in Roswell, N.M., where she attended school, and moved to Abilene in 1987 from Stephenville. She worked as a seamstress and also delivered flowers for Wild Rice Flowers and More for two years. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church and was the widow of Ora B. Ravenscraft.
Survivors include two daughters, Faye A. Smith of Abilene and Donna Nelson of Stephenville; one brother, Hubert Helms of Stephenville; one sister, Mary Lou Lane of Abilene; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
The family will be at 1718 Sandpiper.

Hassie Hollis
ANSON -- Hassie Hollis, 95, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in Anson First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Welch and Rick Hargrave officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hollis was born in Munday and moved to Hawley as a teen-ager. She worked as a supervisor of the Hawley school cafeteria for many years and moved to Anson in 1979 from Hawley. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, Anson Hospital Auxiliary and First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Charles T. Hollis, whom she married in 1921 in Abilene.
Survivors include three daughters, Mildred Neas of Perryton, Charlene Berry of Dallas and Tommie Nix of Anson; one brother, W.D. Earnest of Breckenridge; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Buster Thompson
MERKEL -- Buster Thompson, 81, lineman for Taylor Electric Co-Op for 25 years until retiring in 1982, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Merkel First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Griffith and Larry White officiating. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Thompson was born in Limestone County and married Zoe Wade in 1946 in Merkel. He was a volunteer firefighter for more than 20 years. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church and also was a church custodian for 15 years.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; one daughter, Sandra Doan of Merkel; one brother, Durie Dell Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Murel Thompson of Merkel and Bethlee Walker of Abilene; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Weldon Minzenmayer
WINTERS -- Weldon Minzenmayer, 61, of Santa Fe, N.M., and formerly of Winters, died Sunday in a Santa Fe hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mel Swoyer officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Minzenmayer was born in Winters and ranched in Winters and Chama, N.M. most of his life. He married Cassie Barron Perry in 1976 in Abilene and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Winters.
Survivors include his wife, of Santa Fe, N.M.; two sons, Curtis Minzenmayer of Abilene and Scott Perry of Fort Worth; one daughter, Malinda Minzenmayer of Dallas; his parents, Bill and Katie Minzenmayer of Winters; one brother, William Minzenmayer of Ruidoso, N.M.; two sisters, Barbara Frierson of Tulsa, Okla., and Serena Miller of Cleburne; and several nieces and nephews.

Bonnie Mae Clark
BALLINGER -- Bonnie Mae Clark, 88, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Ballinger First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Crews Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Miss Clark was born in Crews and moved to Ballinger at age 19. She worked as a caregiver to Nettie Curry for many years. She donated land to the Ballinger Soccer Association and it is now called Bonnie Clark Field. She supported the West Texas Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Virginia Douglas Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her caregiver, Wanda Batts of Ballinger; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, Ballinger First United Methodist Church or a favorite charity.
