Raymond William Gerlach
Raymond William Gerlach, 74, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Savior Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lavern Janssen officiating.
Mr. Gerlach was born in West Allis, Wisc., and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He then worked as a tool designer for 40 years in Milwaukee. He moved to Abilene in 1986 and was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sons, Robert J. Gerlach of Corpus Christi, Thomas T. Gerlach of Evergreen, Colo., and James R. Gerlach of Abilene; and four grandchildren.

Gladys Henson
Gladys Henson, 88, of Ralls and formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in Ralls.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Tom Thomson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Henson was born in Benjamin in Knox County and attended school in Rochester. She moved to Abilene in 1928 and worked as a sales clerk at Thornton's Department Store for 23 years and as a clerk for the U.S. Postal Service for five years before retiring. She moved to Ralls in 1994 and was a former member of the Rose Park Senior Citizens, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and American Association of Retired Persons. She was a member of the Suzanna Wesley Sunday School Class at Abilene First United Methodist Church and was the widow of C.A. Henson, whom she married in 1927 in Rochester.
Survivors include one son, C.A. Henson Jr. of Lubbock; one daughter, Jean Threlkeld of Denver; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Irene Martin
ROPESVILLE - Irene Martin, 87, of Abilene and formerly of Ropesville, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services were held Wednesday in Ropesville Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Titus and Oscar Batten officiating, directed by Rix Funeral Directors of Lubbock.
Mrs. Martin was born in Gustine and she, with her husband, owned and operated Martin Egg Farm in Ropesville for many years. She moved to Anson in 1984 and Abilene in 1995. She was a member of the Nazarene Church in Ropesville and was the widow of Jim Martin, whom she married in 1927 in Lubbock.
Survivors include one son, James Edward Martin of Anson; one brother, Luther E. McCormick Jr. of De Leon; three sisters, LaRue Reeves and Alene Reeves, both of Abilene, and Ada Mae Dunn of Clyde; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

James Hine
AMARILLO - James L. Hine, 72, formerly of Ruidoso, N.M., and Abilene, died June 20 in Amarillo.
Services were held June 23 in Amarillo. Memorial services are pending in Ruidoso, N.M. The body was cremated by Memorial Park Crematory.
Mr. Hine was born in Lincolnton, N.C., and graduated from Hardin-Simmons and Texas Tech universities. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during World War II and married Marjorie Richards in 1948 in Abilene. He worked in the Littlefield school district before becoming the first city manager of Ruidoso, N.M. in 1960. He was Ruidoso's city manager until 1987. He received the New Mexico Distinguished Public Service Award in 1969 and was a director of the New Mexico League. He was a past president of the New Mexico City Manager Association and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Amarillo; two daughters, Pamela Hine Bellar of Sudan and Catherine E. Hine of Albuquerque, N.M.; one brother, George W. Hine of Early; one sister, Marie Hine Herb of Abilene; and two grandchildren.

Oscar Ensminger
SWEETWATER - Oscar V. Ensminger, 87, lifelong Nolan County resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Ensminger and Bill Lightfoot officiating. Burial will be in Slater's Chapel Cemetery in Nolan.
Mr. Ensminger was born in Dora and married Ruby Winnie Maynard in 1931 in Maryneal. He was a farmer and attended Normandy Avenue Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; two daughters, Wanda June Buchanan of Abilene and Gloria Egger of Tuscola; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Bobby Jack Hamilton
MUNDAY - Bobby Jack Hamilton, 66, technical assistant at the Texas A&M Research Center in Munday for 18 years until retiring in 1988, died Thursday in a Knox City hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Munday Church of Christ with Jeff Christian officiating. Burial will be in Benjamin Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Hamilton was born in Benjamin and graduated from Benjamin High School in 1949 and Texas Christian University in 1958. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and married Clonita McElroy Bufkin in 1966 in Munday. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Munday; three sons, Wayne Bufkin of Lubbock, Terry Bufkin of Munday and Gary Hamilton of San Angelo; three daughters, Judy Niell and Patricia Perryman, both of Seymour, and JoAnn Bunselmeyer of Richardson; three brothers, Tom Hamilton of Munday, L.V. Hamilton of Willis Point and Ivo Hamilton of Fort Worth; two sisters, Dorothy Donowho of Mount Pleasant and Dean Harper of Merchant, Texas; and 11 grandchildren.

Clarence Althof
ROSCOE - Clarence H. Althof, 71, lifelong local resident, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Roscoe First Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Willis and the Rev. William Hatler officiating. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Althof was born in Roscoe, where he graduated from high school, and was a farmer for many years. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and married Joyce Cooper in 1948 in Roscoe. He worked for RS&P Railway for 17 years and as a salesman for Germania Insurance for 19 years. He was a director of the American Cotton Growers Association and Nolan County Appraisal District, and was a member of the Roscoe Lions Club and Square Dance Club. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Roscoe; two sons, Daylon Althof of Roscoe and David Althof of Bonham; two daughters, Helen Jackson of Euless and Mary Tucker of Houston; two brothers, Raymond Althof and Edwin Althof, both of Roscoe; two sisters, Frances Hughes of Roscoe and Elnora Peters of Greensburg, Kan.; and 11 grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church, 401 Main, Roscoe 79545; or a favorite charity.

Kathleen Works Hodges
EARLY - Kathleen Works Hodges, 74, lifelong Brown County resident, died Tuesday in a Bedford hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in May Cemetery.
Mrs. Hodges was born in May and was a retired licensed vocational nurse. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and was the widow of Coleman Sewell Hodges, whom she married in 1941 in Las Vegas, Nev.

Kaufman Florida
ROTAN - Kaufman Florida, 86, lifelong Fisher County resident, died Thursday at his home.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rotan First Baptist Church. Arrangements are being made by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Florida was born in Fisher County and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He graduated from Texas Tech University and was a farmer. He was a 50-year Mason and was a Protestant.
Survivors include a longtime companion, Vera Morrow of Rotan; and many cousins.
