Susan Leach
KNOX CITY - Susan K. Leach, 42, of Norwalk, Calif., and formerly of Knox City, died Monday in a Norwalk hospital after a long illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in O'Brien Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Trice officiating, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Miss Leach was born in Lubbock and moved to California in 1982. She was a member of Plainview First Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Mickey Leach of Muriltea, Wash., and Randy Leach of Woodville, Wash.

Mary Josephine Shields Coates
BROWNWOOD - Mary Josephine Shields Coates, 60, of Austin and formerly of Brown County, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Bangs Cemetery.
Mrs. Coates was born in Brown County and married Bernard C. Coates in 1985 in Midland. She moved to Austin in 1992 and worked as a bookkeeper for Manor Downs Race Track in Austin.
Survivors include her husband, of Austin; one daughter, Elizabeth Kay Thrope of Driftwood; two sons, Mem Hall of Marfa and Archie Alvin Hall of Austin; one brother, Bill Shields of Midland; one sister, Kay Mathis of San Angelo; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one aunt; and several nieces and nephews.

Faye Ray
ROBY - Faye Ray, 84, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Roby Cemetery with the Rev. Mickey Waggoner officiating, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home of Rotan.
Mrs. Ray was born in Comanche County and moved to Fisher County in 1922. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse. She was a member of the LVN Association, Order of the Eastern Star and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of Roland Ray Sr., whom she married in 1931 in Carlsbad, N.M.
Survivors include one son, Roland Ray Jr. of Roby; one daughter, Juanita Graham of Roby; two sisters, Lucille Clanton of Rotan and Hazel Petty of Clyde; two brothers, Lionel O'Briant of Roswell, N.M., and Morris O'Briant of Seaside, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ova Pearl Cottrell
COMANCHE - Ova Pearl Cottrell, 83, nurse and medication administrator at Western Hills Nursing Home for many years, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wilbur Boone, John Boone, Don Dobyns and Brett Jones officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cottrell was born in Veribest in Tom Green County and moved to Comanche in 1919 from San Angelo. She was a member of United Pentecostal Church and was the widow of Connie Brooks Cottrell, whom she married in 1932 in Comanche.
Survivors include two sons, Travis O. Cottrell of Fort Stockton and William Louis Cottrell of Irving; two daughters, Ramonia Pool and Nancy Segrest, both of Houston; her twin sister, Ora Boyd of Comanche; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to United Pentecostal Church Building Fund in Comanche, Spina Bifida Association in Houston or a favorite charity.

Henry Earnest Meyer
Henry E. "Blackie" Meyer, 70, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Second Baptist Church with the Rev. Steven Parker officiating. Burial will be in Rogers Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Meyer was born in Abilene and married Luan Lovelady in 1952. He owned and operated West Central Heating & Air Conditioning and was a member of Lytle South Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Vic Meyer of Lawn and Rick Meyer of Hawley; one daughter, Connie Meyer of Lawn; one sister, Pearl Newberry of Kerrville; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Billy 'Bill' Johnson
Billy "Bill" Johnson, 75, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Chris Raley officiating. Burial will be in Midway Cemetery in Hodges.
Mr. Johnson was born in Greenville and lived in Abilene for many years. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and married Lois Guthrie in 1945 in Albany. He was a retired employee of Citizens National Bank and was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one daughter, Lou Sharron Green of Midland; one brother, P.R. Johnson of Huffman; two sisters, Peggy Boles and G. Jo Kirk of Arlington; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Vivian Esmond Flynt
ANSON - Vivian Esmond Flynt, 82, employed by Anson General Hospital for many years before retiring as assistant administrator in 1985, died Saturday in an Abilene nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Anson First Baptist Church with the Revs. Lee Welch and Richard Payne officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Flynt was born in Ballinger, where she graduated from high school in 1931, and moved to Anson in 1939 from Winters. She was a member and past president of the Tuesday Study Club, and a 50-year member and past matron of Anson Chapter 867, Order of the Eastern Star. She also was a member of the Anson Women's Club and American Association of Retired Persons. She taught the Lydia Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church and was the widow of Grady L. Flynt, whom she married in 1932 in Walters, Okla.
Survivors include two daughters, Joy Cramer of Corpus Christi and Jill Tollison of Abilene; two sons, Jack Flynt of Abilene and Roy Leonard of Midland; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Bonnie Lou Norway
COLEMAN - Bonnie Lou Norway, 58, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Martin officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Mrs. Norway was born in Abilene, where she attended school, and moved to Coleman in 1970. She was working at Holiday Hill Nursing Home at the time of her death and was a member of United Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include four sons, Danny Norway of Coleman, Rick Norway of Clyde, and Tony Norway and Tim Norway, both of Brownwood; one daughter, Debbie Rasor of Brownwood; her father, James R. Irwin of Coleman; one sister, Helen Wright of Coleman; one brother, James W. Irwin of Coleman; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jerry Bryian Howell
COLORADO CITY - Jerry Bryian Howell, 59, lifelong local resident, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Plainview Baptist Church with the Rev. John Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Howell was born in Mitchell County. He married Anneta Young in 1960 in Brownfield and they remarried in 1997 in Abilene. He worked as a railroad clerk for 28-1/2 years before retiring and later was a correctional officer.
Survivors include his wife, of Colorado City; seven children, Donna Christene Howell and Janet Lynn Smith, both of Bedford, Michael Stuart Howell of North Richland Hills, Alan Douglas Howell of Colorado City, Rhonda Gail Saunders of Clyde, and Jamie Leann Bell and Michael Peter Howell, both of Bonham; his mother, Minnie Alice Howell of Colorado City; one brother, Ronald Gene Howell of Arlington; and nine grandchildren.
