Annie Cope
BALLINGER - Annie L. Cope, 89, of Bronte died Monday in San Angelo.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rains-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Swindler officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte.
Mrs. Cope was born in Norton and had lived in the area many years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Norton and Bronte Order of the Eastern Star. She married M.M. Cope in 1926 in Norton; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Richard Cope of Katy; two daughters, Mary Belle Hilliard and Joyce Knight, both of Bronte; one sister, Wilma Newsom of Tulia; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Pauline 'Polly' Mays
BIG SPRING - Pauline "Polly" Mays, 74, former City Council member and mayor pro tem from 1975-1979, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Trinity Memorial Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Mays was born in Holton, Kan., and graduated from the University of Kansas with a bachelor's degree in occupational therapy. She was a Navy veteran and was president and vice president of the 1946 Hyperian Club and director of Big Spring Concert Association in the 1960s. She was a member and past officer of Lucky 20 Investment Club and Big Spring Country Club Ladies Golf Association. She helped start Big Spring Humane Society. She married Floyd Mays Jr. in 1947 in Holton.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Mays; two children, Doug Mays of Dallas and Cathy Mays of Big Spring; one brother, Sheldon Schultz of Florida; and two grandchildren.

Bertha Wilson
EASTLAND - Bertha L. Wilson, 68, who owned and operated Main Street Cafe in Ranger for a number of years, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Bakker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Olden and lived in the Eastland area all her life. She attended Olden and Cisco schools and worked as a restaurant waitress most of her life. She worked in the Eastland Elementary School cafeteria, retiring in 1993. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her mother, Agnes Wilson of Eastland; two sisters, Stella Wilson of Eastland and Lou Glosson of Baird; two brothers, Jerry Wilson of Cisco and John Wilson of Dallas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

C.L. 'Pete' Roark
MERKEL - C.L. "Pete" Roark, 84, died Saturday in Merkel.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Rose Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Brad Reeves officiating, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Roark was born in Memphis, Tenn., and moved to Merkel after retiring. He was an electrical engineer in Houston and was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Martha "Rusty" Roark in 1974 in Abilene; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. C.L. Roark of Reisterstown, Md., and Kevin Roark of Baltimore, Md.; one daughter, Leslie Ann Urban of Gaithersburg, Md.; and several grandchildren.

Thelma Lee Bailey Rainbolt
CISCO - Thelma Lee Bailey Rainbolt, 92, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Kimbrough Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Turner officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Rainbolt was born in Scranton and attended Scranton schools and Scranton Academy. She moved to Cisco from Fort Worth in 1985 and was a homemaker. She was a lifetime member of the Methodist church and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She married Frank Rainbolt in 1945.
Survivors include two sisters, Nell Riffe and Lorena Sublett, both of Cisco; one brother, Wilbur Bailey of Fort Worth; one stepdaughter, Geraldine Humphreys of Dallas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Paula Kay Criswell McCoun
Paula Kay Criswell McCoun, 39, of Abilene, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church. Chaplain James Teel will officiate under the direction of Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Born in Austin, she graduated magna cum laude in math education from McMurry University in 1979. She went on to earn a master's in mathematics from Texas Tech University in 1986, and a doctorate in education from Texas Tech in 1993. She was a past president of the McMurry Women's Club, played the flute in the Abilene Community Band, received the Unsung Heroine Award from McMurry in March, and was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, was a volunteer and volunteer coordinator of the Hospice of the Big Country, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Hobbs, N.M.
married to Kelly Lynn McCoun in 1986 in Hobbs, she returned to Abilene in 1993.
Survivors include her husband; her mother, Ruth Loungene Criswell of Hobbs, N.M.; a sister, Christine Felton of Rowlett; three nieces and a nephew.

Cytha Huddleston
Cytha Stone Huddleston, 59, a real estate agent, died Tuesday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South. Don Hatch will officiate and burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. She will lie in state until noon Thursday at the downtown funeral home, 542 Hickory.
She was born in Waurika, Okla., and reared in Manitou, Okla. She married Arnold Huddleston in 1977 in Abilene. Mrs. Huddleston sold real estate in the Abilene area for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Arnold; her mother Clodell Box of Abilene; three children, Jimmy Hood of Terrell, Vicki Hood Young of Abilene and Jerry Hood of Redwood, Calif.; four step-children, Nancy Shaleen of Charlotte, N.C.; Scott Huddleston of Coppell, and Mark Huddleston and Dana Dulton of Van Buren, Arkansas; two sisters, Linda Houts of Raymondville and Janith Ake of Abilene; and 15 grandchildren.

Yolette Wylene Monroe, 24, died June 30.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Bethel Church of God in Christ, Cottonwood and N. 7th, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Miss Monroe attended Abilene High School.
Survivors include her father, Eddie C. Monroe Sr.; five brothers, Eddie C. Monroe Jr., Gregory K. Monroe, Dexter N. Monroe, Brett O. Monroe and Seth A. Monroe; three sisters, Tina Powell, Linda Monroe and Mildred Monroe; two children, Timantre Monroe and Guthria Monroe; and a host of other relatives.

Roy Alan Baker
DALLAS - Roy Alan Baker, a 1953 graduate of Abilene High School, died Monday.
Graveside services will be at noon Thursday in Merriman Cemetery in Eastland with the Rev. Jim Poe officiating, directed by Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Mr. Baker spent most of his teen and young adult years in the Taylor County area. He was employed by Greyhound Bus Lines for 25 years and by Mrs. Baird's Bread.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Baker, of the Fort Worth area; two sons, Clifford Baker of Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Douglas Baker of Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Ruth Henley of Rockport and Clara White of Winslow, Ark.; two stepsons, Christopher Fetter and Sean Fetter of Arlington; grandchildren and other relatives.
The family will be at the funeral home from 5:30-8 p.m. today.
