Raymond Leon Hatcher Jr.
Raymond Leon Hatcher Jr., 30, of Abilene died Saturday at a hospital in the Anson area.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hillcrest Church of Christ with Bill Luttrell, Curtis Johnson and Lonnie Lehrman officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Hatcher was born in San Angelo and moved to Abilene in 1968. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1985 and attended the University of Texas. He was self-employed as Raymond's Detail, an auto detailing business, and worked for Abilene Tile. He was a member of the Church of Christ and the Abilene Softball Association. He married Vera Sweat in 1990 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Andre Sweat of Abilene; one daughter, Anna Sweat of Abilene; his parents, Doris and Ezekiel Benitez Sr. of Abilene; three brothers, Victor Brown and Ezekiel Benitez Jr., both of Abilene, and Stephen Brown of Waco; one sister, Sharon Hatcher of Dallas; grandmothers Elnora Jones of Brownwood and Verdell Hatcher of Mount Pleasant; and several aunts and uncles.

Bessie Maude Story
Bessie Maude Story, 82, of Plano died Sunday.
Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Hereford. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Ted Dickey Funeral Home of Plano. Local arrangements were by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.
Mrs. Story was born in Fort Stockton. She was involved in many community activities and was president of Beta Sigma Phi chapters in Eastland, Abilene and Hereford. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Hereford and active with the American Heart Association. She was the widow of J.T. Cooper and Joe G. Story.
Survivors include one son, Tom Cooper of Plano; five stepchildren, Gary Story of Wilmore, Ky., Jan Metcalf and Sandra Saul, both of Hereford, Joy McDowell of Lubbock and Nancy Mustian of Graham; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dr. Katherine Anderson
Dr. Katherine Anderson, 70, Dyess Civil Service physician and lifelong Abilenian, died Monday at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Robert Busch officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Dr. Anderson was born in Abilene and graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in 1948 with a bachelor's degree. She graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School with a medical degree in 1952 and served her internship at Baptist Memorial Hospital in San Antonio. She returned to Abilene in 1953 and started private practice. She joined Dyess Air Force Base hospital in 1962 as chief of allergy and immunology, serving until retirement. She was a member of Hendrick Medical Centers staff for 44 years. She was medical adviser and secretary for Abilene Chapter of Cystic Fibrosis. She was a 43-year member and past president of Altrusa International and served on numerous Altrusa International committees. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Alpha Epsilon Iota women's medical fraternity, Abilene State School staff, American Medical Association, Taylor-Jones Medical Society, Texas Medical Society, St. Ann's Hospital staff, American Medical Women's Association and Texas Academy of Physicians. She was official physician for the Texas Legislature in 1975.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Pat Anderson of Hubbard; three nieces, Carol Rodriguez of Abilene, Linda Arnold of Hubbard and Tommilyn Barnett of Carrollton; four great-nieces, one great-nephew and one great-great-nephew.

Bruce King
Bruce A. King, 84, of Abilene died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. George Gaston and the Rev. H.B. Terry Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. King was born in Tye and attended Abilene High School. He worked for Newspaper Printing Corp. in El Paso, the company which printed the El Paso Times, for 34 years before retiring. He returned to Abilene in 1984 and was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church. He had been a member of International Typographical Union since 1941 and the Central Labor Union, serving as an officer of both. He had also served on the Electrical Inspectors Advisory Board for the city of El Paso. He married Val A. Cheek in 1932 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Mina Jo King of Abilene and Barbara Helms of Truth or Consequences, N.M.; two brothers, Jack E. King of Atlanta, Tex., and George L. King of Allen; three sisters, Kay Law of Allen, Louise Barber of Fort Worth and Dorothy Pashman of Jackson, Miss.; and one grandson.
Memorials may be made to Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 S. Pioneer, Abilene 79605.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Richard Gordon Smalley
CLYDE - Richard Gordon Smalley, 85, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Clyde Church of Christ with Wilson Orr officiating. Burial will be in Clyde Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Smalley was born in Muskogee, Okla., and moved to Clyde from Brooks, Alberta, Canada, in 1978. He attended Breckenridge High School and graduated from Crane High School. He worked for Texas-New Mexico Pipeline Co. for 25 years, for McWood Corporation five years and for Boa River Pipeline, Ltd., in Brooks for 14 years. He was a member of Clyde Church of Christ. He married Olena Crawford in 1937 in Pecos.
Survivors include his wife, of Clyde; two daughters, Sandra (Mrs. James) Terrell of Abilene and Lana Mills of Lubbock; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Gertrude Geneieve Burns
BALLINGER - Gertrude Geneieve Burns, 93, died Monday at a San Angelo hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with the Rev. Winford Gore officiating, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burns was born in Haskin, Ohio, and lived in Abilene before moving to Ballinger. She was a sales representative for Avon for more than 25 years. She was a member of Avenue B Church of Christ. She was the widow of Steve Burns.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Burns of Ballinger; and three sisters, Marla Burns of Round Rock, Jimmy Burns of Leander and Kayla Burns.

Bill 'Lucky' Main
BIG SPRING - Bill "Lucky" Main, 75, of Colorado City died Sunday at a local hospital after a brief illness.
Private services will be held at a later date, directed by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Main was born in Tulsa, Okla., and moved to Colorado City two years ago from Lake Elsinore, Calif. He was a retired shipping and receiving clerk and truck driver, having worked for Crown Coach and Solar Manufacturing, both in Vernon, Calif. He was a member of Christian Temple in Colorado City.
Survivors include one daughter, Linda Stapel of Big Spring; one sister, Ruby Mae Pursher of Colorado City; two brothers, Samuel William Main Jr. of Colorado and John Morris of Disney, Okla.; two grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at 1802 Morrison.

Albert Hook
SNYDER - Albert C. Hook, 63, of Dunn died Sunday at a Colorado City nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with Roy Rosson and Surry Gillam officiating. Burial will be in Dunn Cemetery.
Mr. Hook was born in Dickens and moved to Snyder in 1951. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and worked for Universal Oil Field Construction. He also worked for Chevron and was self-employed from 1977-1990. He moved to Dunn from Snyder in 1983 and was a member of Dunn Church of Christ. He married Doris Taylor in 1954 in Snyder.
Survivors include his wife, of Dunn; three daughters, Rose Bailey of Madill, Okla., Betty Callaway of Merkel and Barbara Hook of Dunn; one son, Paul Hook of Springfield, Mo.; four sisters, Edith Lorena Morris of Fort Worth, Hazel Aldredge of Wichita Falls, Delores Bradley of Pampa and Joe Biddie of Paris, Tex.; two brothers, Cecil Lee Hook of McClain and Denzel Hook of Pampa; and eight grandchildren.

John Tyler Mondey
BROWNWOOD - John Tyler Mondey, infant, died Saturday at a Fort Worth hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
John Tyler was born in Brownwood.
Survivors include his mother, Roshena Mondey of Brownwood; his twin sister, Jodi Dena Mondey of Brownwood; grandparents Delories and Robert Haupt of Brownwood; great-grandparents Ron and Rose Hendricks and Orville and Estelle Ganquist, all of Gatesville; one aunt, four uncles and numerous other relatives.

Dora Sanchez
BROWNWOOD - Dora Sanchez, 70, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Salvador Trevino officiating. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Rose Hill Funeral Home Chapel in Whittier, Calif.
Mrs. Sanchez was born in New Mexico and had lived in Brownwood for 20 years. She was a homemaker and a member of First Mexican Baptist Church. She married Nicholas Sanchez in 1946 in New Mexico; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include seven sons, Nick Sanchez Jr., David Sanchez, Stevie Sanchez, Mark Sanchez of Brownwood, Freddie Sanchez, Michael Sanchez and Billy Sanchez of California; three daughters, Mary Porter, Yvonne Romero of Brownwood and Jennie Sanchez of California; one brother, Trinidad Garcia of California; one sister, Nellie Garcia of Brownwood; 31 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
