Lougenia Thorp
BROWNWOOD - Lougenia M. Thorp, 94, died Monday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. Lloyd Hagemeier officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Thorp was born in Brown County and attended Brownwood High School, and Howard Payne and Texas Woman's universities. She taught school for 37 years and her career included Sidney High School and Vaughn High School in Vaughn, N.M. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and Central United Methodist Church, and was the widow of Nathan Aris Thorp, whom she married in 1929 in Brownwood.
Survivors include one sister, Lucile Baker Smith of Brownwood; two nieces and one nephew; and many great nieces and great nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Central United Methodist Church in Brownwood.

E.R. 'Eldon' Stockman
BROWNWOOD - E.R. "Eldon" Stockman, 62, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Eastlawn Memorial Park, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Stockman was born in Brown County and married Margaret Rudloff in 1975 in Brownwood. He was a self-employed welder and also worked for Hobbs Industrial and Ross Co. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; six sons, Steve Stockman Doss of Rison, Ark., Terry Stockman of Lubbock, Mike Stockman of Arlington, Jerry Stockman of Hillsboro, Scott Stockman of Cleburne and Clif Canada of Brownwood; three daughters, Gurna Stockman of Arlington, Lisa Stockman of Lubbock and Brenna Wiggins of Clermont, Fla.; two stepbrothers, Amos Rodney Ward of Littlefield and Doyle Haskel Ward of Bangs; three sisters, Homera Christine Stover of Abilene, Vivian Aleen Norman of Comanche and Juanita Pauline Ward of Bangs; 15 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Lee Roy 'Lester' Wilson
GRANBURY - Lee Roy "Lester" Wilson, 79, brother of two Big Country residents, died Tuesday in a Cleburne hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Mr. Wilson was born in Farmers Branch and worked as a tooling engineer for General Dynamics for 40 years until retiring in 1978. He was a former volunteer firefighter at De Cordova Bend Estates and was a member of De Cordova Bend Estates Men's Golf Association and Hole-in-One Club. He was the widower of Kathleen J. Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Pat Wilson of Granbury; one brother, Carl Wilson of Abilene; one sister, Evelyn Lee of Clyde; and three nieces and five nephews.
Memorials may be sent to De Cordova Bend Estates Volunteer Fire Department.

Naomi Davis
CLYDE - Naomi Davis, 90, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Ross Cemetery Annex in Baird with Bill Hughes officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Davis was born in Kaseyville, Mo., and graduated from Plainview High School and Draughon's Business College. She moved to Clyde in 1963 from Abilene and worked as a secretary for an insurance agency until retiring. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was church secretary for eight years. She was the widow of Clifford Walker Davis, whom she married in 1935 in Amarillo.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Hughes of Clyde and Sharon Ramsaier of El Paso; and two grandchildren.

Maxie Lee Root
MERKEL - Maxie Lee Root, 80, formerly of Colorado City, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Colorado City Cemetery with the Rev. Kevin Anderson officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home of Colorado City.
Mrs. Root was born in Plano and moved to Colorado City in 1939. She worked as the director of nurses at Root Valley Fair Lodge for 35 years and was a registered nurse. She moved to Merkel in 1992. She was a member of First Christian Church and was the widow of Charles Root Jr., whom she married in 1939 in Cleburne.
Survivors include two daughters, Anna Lee Dillard of Merkel and Judy Hubbard of Abilene; one sister, Marguerite Graves of Cleburne; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

George Ann Robinson
ASPERMONT - George Ann Robinson, 80, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Aspermont First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jim Reinbolt officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Springtown Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Robinson was a longtime Stonewall County resident and taught school in Peacock and Aspermont for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and was the widow of William Courtney Robinson, whom she married in 1934 in Fort Worth.
Survivors include one son, W.C. Robinson Jr. of Greenville, S.C.; and two grandchildren.

Melvin Shell
STEPHENVILLE - Melvin Shell, 84, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Stephenville First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bobby Baggett officiating. Burial will be in West End Cemetery, directed by Stephenville Funeral Home.
Mr. Shell was born in Roby and moved to Gorman in 1940 and Stephenville in 1969. He married Maurine Davis in 1942 in Houston and was a retired owner of Gorman Peanut Co. and Texas Central Railroad. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Stephenville; two sons, Terry Shell of Granbury and John Shell of Stephenville; one daughter, Marilyn Shell of Fort Worth; one brother, Wilbur Shell of Gorman; one sister, Elva Kirk of Brownwood; two grandchildren; and one aunt.

Rose (Gunsim Mew) McNamee
EARLY - Rose (Gunsim Mew) McNamee, 65, died Saturday in a Brownwood hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry P. Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. McNamee was born in Honolulu, where she attended school. She married J.F. "Jimmie" McNamee in 1955 in Honolulu and was a homemaker. She returned to Early in 1981 and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Early; three sons, William Leon Sartain of Illinois, Joel Young Sartain of Florida and Thomas Gene McNamee of Washington, D.C.; three daughters, Cheryl Jean Glos of Oregon, Beverly Jean McNamee of Austin and Patricia Rose McClung of Fort Worth; five sisters; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Lynn Bunkley Carlton
STAMFORD - Lynn Bunkley Carlton, 76, lifelong area resident, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Orient Street Church of Christ with Stan Harvey and Chad Massie officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Tuxedo, directed by Kinney Funeral Home.
Mr. Carlton was born in Jones County and was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of Orient Street Church of Christ and was the widower of Alline Schmidt Carlton, whom he married in 1941 in Stamford.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Carlton of Stamford; one daughter, Carolyn Sluga of Windsor, Colo.; one sister, Elaine Payne of Conroe; one brother, Alton Carlton of Pasadena; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Frank Bracken
BRANDON, Fla. - Frank L. Bracken, 75, formerly of Sylvester, died July 9 in a Tampa, Fla. hospital.
The cremains will be buried at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Newman Cemetery near Sylvester. Arrangements were made by Stowers Funeral Home.
Mr. Bracken was born in Cleveland. He was a captain with the U.S. Army Air Corps and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He moved to the Tampa, Fla. area in 1954 from Sylvester. He worked as a mix chemist for 22 years for Florida Portland Cement and was a Protestant.
Survivors include his wife, Jolene S. Bracken of Brandon; one son, Richard S. Bracken of Albany, Ga.; one daughter, Barbara A. Blasband of Brandon; and three grandchildren.

Wynona Caffey
SIDNEY - Wynona A. Caffey, 81, died Tuesday in a Comanche nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche with the Rev. Art Allen officiating. Burial will be in Pendergrass Cemetery.
Mrs. Caffey was born in Comanche and was a homemaker. She worked for Ling-Temco for 20 years and returned to Sidney in 1973 from Irving. She was a member of Sidney Methodist Church and was the widow of Wayne Little Caffey, whom she married in 1936 in Sidney.
Survivors include one son, Bobby Caffey of Sidney; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Pendergrass Cemetery Association or Sidney Methodist Church.
