Don Winters
LAWN -- Don E. Winters, 64, died Monday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home.
Mr. Winters was born in Hodges and graduated from Abilene High School. He moved to Buffalo Gap in 1981 and to Lawn in 1996. He was a former fire chief for the Buffalo Gap Volunteer Fire Department, a city selectman on the Buffalo Gap City Council and was president of the Taylor County Old Settlers Planning Committee from 1989-1995. He is a life member of Abilene Men's Bowling Association and a member of Lawn Baptist Church. He owned and operated Don Winters Construction for 35 years. He married Naomi Walker in 1952 in Abilene. He married Janette Richey in 1996 in Lawn.
Survivors include his wife, Janette Richey of Lawn; Naomi Winters of Abilene, the mother of his children; two daughters, Debbie Tindall and D'Ann Giddings, both of Abilene; two stepsons, Brandon Moore and Dustin Moore, both of Lawn; one brother, Max Winters of Euless; two sisters, Shirley Ivey of Clyde and Janice Lang of Hamby; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care or Hendrick Cancer Center, both at 1242 N. 19th, Abilene 79601.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Pearl Lawson
BROWNWOOD -- Pearl Lawson, 86, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Central United Methodist Church with the Revs. Pat McClatchy and Lloyd Hagemeier officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Lubbock City Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Lawson was born in Bangs and had lived in Brownwood since 1977. She was a homemaker and a member of Central United Methodist Church and Upper Room Sunday school class. She married Layton Lawson in 1933 in Lubbock.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; two daughters, Juana Simmons of San Benito and Beverly Krause of Tyler; one son, Luther Lawson Jr. of Austin; five sisters, Ruby McNurlen and Earlene Driver, both of Brownwood, Opal Todd and Esma Thomas, both of Lubbock, and Marie Richmond of Santee, Calif.; one brother, Wendell Vardeman of Slaton; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Central United Methodist Church Elevator Fund.

William 'Pee Wee' Cranford Jr.
HAMLIN -- William H. "Pee Wee" Cranford Jr., 57, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hamlin Church of Christ with Jerry Jackson officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin Memorial Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Cranford was born in Sterling City and moved to Hamlin as a child. He graduated from Hamlin High School in 1960 and was a butcher for 35 years, retiring in 1994. He lived in Odessa for several years before moving to Dudley in 1994. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Dana Biddy of DeLeon, Christy Lee of Fort Worth and Kisha Cranford of Odessa; his mother, Cleo Cranford of Hamlin; one sister, Bettie Diese of Hamlin; one brother, Norman Cranford of Dudley; and four grandchildren.

Orville 'Hog' Reeves
GLEN ROSE -- Orville "Hog" Reeves, 83, of Rising Star died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in White Church Cemetery in Somervell County.
Mr. Reeves was born in Glen Rose and lived in Cisco and Strawn before moving to Rising Star 15 years ago. He was a carpenter and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Cisco.
Survivors include one son, Terry Reeves of Joshua; two daughters, Joy Tuck of Stephenville and Jean Ramsay of Rising Star; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Tommy Ray Simmons
PEACOCK -- Tommy Ray Simmons, 69, died Sunday.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. J.R. Williams officiating, assisted by Mack Simmons. Burial will be in Double Mountain Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mr. Simmons was born in Peacock and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a Baptist and attended Grayson County Junior College. He married Peggy Nail in 1961 in Stonewall County.
Survivors include his wife, of Stamford; two sons, David Simmons of Haskell and Steven Simmons of Stamford; one daughter, Kathy Gonzales of Stamford; five brothers, Carl Simmons and Mack Simmons, both of Peacock, Herbie Simmons of Merkel, Leon Simmons of Murchinson and John Simmons of Pottsboro; five sisters, Bessie McAnally of Merkel, Francis McColloch of Sweetwater, Billie Childress of Pottsboro, LaRue Simmons of Crane and Wanda Acker of Rotan; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Odelia Ueckert
MERKEL -- Odelia Ueckert, 84, of Abilene died Monday at an Abilene retirement center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Larry Adams and Donnie Harbers officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Ueckert was born in Fort Worth and was a homemaker. She was a member of Noodle Baptist Church and Merkel Senior Citizens and a 50-year member of Merkel Eastern Star. She married Henry Ueckert in 1935 in Anson; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Darrell Ueckert of San Angelo and Lonnie Ueckert of Amarillo; four sisters, Leona Bascom of Milwaukee, Wis., Ruby Grogan of Tahoka, Mary Lou Kelso of Tehachapi, Calif., and Lamont Willis of Dallas; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Billie Maurine Dean Edwards
ANSON -- Billie Maurine Dean Edwards, 75, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Christian Life Church with the Rev. Rick Hargrave and P.B. Middlebrook officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Edwards was born in Jones County and graduated from Anson High School in 1939. She attended Texas Women's University in Denton and worked as an insurance agent. She was a member of Anson Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and First Baptist Church, and was the widow of J.R. "Pete" Edwards, whom she married in 1940 in Roby.
Survivors include one son, Billy John Edwards of Abilene; four daughters, Kelly O'Neal of Forney, and Kay Dean, Cynthia McKeever and Tamara Liner, all of Anson; one sister, Jewel Ousley of Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

Patty Taylor Walls
COLEMAN -- Patty Taylor Walls, 62, of Abilene and formerly of Coleman, died Wednesday in a Merkel nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Paul Smith officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Mrs. Walls was born in Coleman, where she graduated from high school in 1955, and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene in 1972 from Pope Air Force Base in North Carolina. She was active in the American Red Cross and Military Wives Club. She was a Methodist and was the widow of Herbert Walls, whom she married in 1958 in Coleman.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Mayfield of Abilene; one son, David Walls of Abilene; five sisters, Mary Huntley of Bedford, Doris Lobstin, Hazel Day and Faye Kittel, all of Bangs, and "Blackie" Stevens of Coleman; three brothers, Thomas Taylor of Amarillo, and Bob Taylor and Denver Taylor, both of Virginia; and two grandchildren.
