James Barton Tucker
CLYDE - James Barton Tucker, 61, died Friday at a Houston hospital.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. Monday at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the St. Joachim & Ann Catholic Church with the Rev. Robert Bush and the Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating. Burial will be in the Clyde Catholic Cemetery, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mr. Tucker was born in Clyde and lived there all his life. He married Sandra Floyd in 1958 in Abilene. He was a floor installer and carpet layer and was a Eucharistic Minister for several years at the St. Joachim & Ann Catholic Church, where he was a member. He also served in the Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Tucker of Clyde; two sons, James Michael Tucker and David Tucker, both of Clyde; one daughter, Cynthia Tucker of Clyde; five brothers, Tommy Tucker of Ash Flat, Ark., Silas Tucker of Clyde, Hugh Tucker of Boerne, Wendell Tucker of Kilgore and Todd Tucker of Baird; one sister, Delores Ann Haliburton of Clyde; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Ruth Castillo York
SANTA ANNA - Ruth Castillo York, 22, died Saturday at a Fort Worth hospital.
Rosary services will be at 7 p.m. tonight at Henderson Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman with Father Larry Cyr officiating. Burial will be in the Santa Anna Cemetery, directed by Henderson Funeral Home.
Mrs. York was born in Coleman. She was a lifelong resident of Santa Anna, where she graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1993. She married Howard York, Jr. in 1995 in Brownwood. She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a housewife.
Survivors include her husband, Howard York Jr. of Santa Anna; her parents, Fernando and Maria Castillo Sr. of Santa Anna; two sisters, Rosa Vasquez and Daena Castillo, both of Santa Anna; three brothers, Maurice Castillo of Santa Anna, Fernando Castillo Jr. of Bangs and Lupe Castillo of Santa Anna; her grandmother, Maria L. Castillo of Santa Anna; six nieces and three nephews.

Sarah Mae Hunter
COLEMAN - Sarah Mae Hunter, 92, died Sunday at a Coleman hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kermit Sorrells officiating, assisted by the Rev. Reed Justus. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery directed by Stevens Funeral Home. The family will recieve visitors at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight.
Mrs. Hunter was born in Midlothian where she grew up and attended school. She also attended school in Echo. She moved to Coleman County in 1920 and married J.A. Hunter in 1922. He preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two sons, James Hunter of Coleman and Don Hunter of Midland; two daughters, Louise Glass and Norma Briscoe, both of Austin; one brother, J.M. Trent of Brownfield; one sister, Eunice Yates of Odessa; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Claude Tucker
GORMAN - Claude Tucker, 85, died Sunday in a De Leon hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in the Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Rhoton officiating. Burial will be in the Alameda Cemetery.
Mr. Tucker was born in Gorman. He married Barbara Bennett in 1953 in Lingleville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and a U.S. Army World War II veteran. He belonged to the Odd Fellows lodge and was a retired oilfield worker. He also belonged to the Royal Neighbors.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Tucker of Gorman; two sons, James Tucker of Duster and Joe Tucker of Odessa; two sisters, Eva Choate of Coleman and Ellen Box of Sulpher, La.; and three grandchildren.

Ava E. Gore
COMANCHE - Ava E. Gore, 92, died Sunday in a local nursing home after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Don Longoria officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gore married Melvin Earl Gore in Comanche in 1920. She was a Baptist and a member of the First Baptist Chuch in Comanche. She was a homemaker and a grocer.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy E. Gore of Comanche; one grandson and two great-grandchildren.

Flora Reeves
ODESSA - Mrs. L.V. (Flora) Reeves, 81, died Sunday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church in Bradshaw with the Rev. Ed Bigham officiating. Burial will be in Bradshaw Cemetery, directed by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Reeves was born in Ardmore, Okla. She married L.V. Reeves in Haskell in 1930.
Survivors include her husband, of Odessa; a daughter, Gay Oates of Odessa; two sons, Harley Reeves and Jim Reeves, both of Odessa; three sisters, Irene Puechell of Haskell, Naomi Ussery of Lubbock and Ioma Holt of Lawn; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the charity of the giver's choice.

Mamie Parkhurst Pate
Mamie Parkhurst Pate, 93, formerly of Breckenridge, died Sunday at an Abilene nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Jody Boren officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South.
Mrs. Pate was born in Stroud, Okla., and attended school in Drumright, Okla. She moved to Abilene from Breckenridge in 1988.
She was the widow of Letice Walker Pate, whom she married in Drumright, Okla., in 1922. Mrs. Pate was a homemaker and a member of First United Methodist Church in Breckenridge.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Atkins of Tuscola and Carolyn Sumrow of Greenville; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Kattie Lea Lane
Kattie Lea Lane, 75, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Johnny B. Snow Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lane was born in Oklahoma and attended public schools in Frankston and Kaufman. She moved to Abilene from Dallas in 1965.
She married James E. Lane in Anson in 1965. She was a homemaker and a member of Highland Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, James E. Lane Sr. of Abilene; three sons, Gary Whitely of Cedar Hill, James E. Lane Jr. of Dallas and Raymond E. Lane of Clyde; three daughters, Glenda Keele of Dallas and Sandra Flores and Sharon Kay Bustamante of Abilene; two brothers, Buddy Norton and Sam Norton Jr. of Palestin Lake; three sisters, Ethel Mae Rainwater of Malakoff, Mary Wilson of Kaufman and Cleta Hopper of Cedar Hill; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Simon Medina Jr.
Simon Medina Jr., 77, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home chapel.
Mr. Medina was born in Taylor and moved to Abilene from Lampasas in 1952. He was employed by Thurston H. Carter Concrete Contractors.
He married Martha Albarado in Briggs in 1924. He was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was manager of Los Camaliones De St. Vincent Pallotti baseball team, and the ballfield at the church was named for him.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Medina of Abilene; five sons, Pedro S. Medina Sr., David Medina and Henry Medina, all of Abilene, Manuel Medina of Chandler, Ind., and Jesse Medina of Mansfield; two daughters, Delores Hernandez and Mickey Medina, both of Abilene; a sister, Mary DeLeon of Lampasas; 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Milford Blanton
GROVEPORT, Ohio - Milford Blanton, 57, the brother of an Abilene woman, died Thursday at a Columbus, Ohio, hospital.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Santa Anna Cemetery with Dr. Lawrence R. Grandy officiating, directed by Henderson Funeral Home of Santa Anna.
Mr. Blanton was born in Gouldbusk. He was raised in Santa Anna, where he graduated from high school. He received his bachelor of mathematics degree from Howard Payne University.
Mr. Blanton married Phylis Taylor in Liberty, Ky., in 1966. He was a master mason and a member of the Santa Anna Mountain Lodge and Heritage Baptist Church in Ohio. Mr. Blanton was Chief Information Officer for the state of Ohio.
Survivors include his wife, Phylis Blanton of Groveport, Ohio; two daughters, Candace Price and Penny Campbell, both of Plano; one son, Michael Blanton of Groveport, Ohio; one sister, Wanda Blanton Kinard of Abilene; two brothers, Jimmy Blanton of Georgetown and Kenneth Armstrong of Early; and eight grandchildren.
