Clara Kansteiner
CISCO - Clara Kansteiner, 87, lifelong local resident, died Saturday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, directed by Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Kansteiner was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was the widow of Walter Kansteiner, whom she married in 1950 in Cisco.
Survivors include one sister-in-law, Helen Winge of Cisco; and three nephews and two nieces.

Albert Edwin 'Ed' Baird
Albert Edwin "Ed" Baird, 65, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in Bellwood Cemetery in Temple with the Rev. Milton Martin officiating.
Mr. Baird grew up in the Temple area and graduated from Baylor University in 1955 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. He worked for Firestone Co. in Midland for two years, then for Commercial Bank and Trust until 1971. He worked at First National Bank in Cisco from 1971-1978, when he opened Ed Baird Insurance Agency in Abilene. He was a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church, Abilene Board of Realtors, Life Underwriters and Greater Abilene Kiwanis Club. He was a 32nd-degree Mason and a member of Masonic Lodge in Temple and Abilene Shrine Club. He married Dean Gilley in 1954 in Temple.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three sons, James Baird of Abilene, Roy Baird of San Antonio and Tom Baird of Houston; one daughter, Tonya Baird of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and seven grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.

Theresa Marie Neil
WATAUGA - Theresa Marie Neil, 35, died Saturday at her home after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Hurst. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park in Abilene with the Rev. Caryn Yoast officiating, directed by Lucas Funeral Home of Hurst.
Mrs. Neil was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene Cooper High School. She attended Tarrant County Junior College and graduated from the University of North Texas. She was an elementary school teacher, a member of American Cancer Society Support Group and a volunteer for Reach to Recovery.
Survivors include her husband, Ray Allen Neil of Watauga; one son, Ryan Allen Neil of Watauga; two daughters, Candice Marie Neil and Sarah Elizabeth Neil, both of Watauga; her parents, Walter "W.L." and Sonja McCubbins of Watauga and Cindy and Bill Turner of Abilene; two brothers, James McCubbins of Abilene and Jacky Shaw of Fort Worth; three sisters, Patricia Snow of Abilene and Tina McCubbins and Amy Shaw, both of Fort Worth; and grandparents Carroll Stinnett and James Stinnett of Abilene.

Danny Lynn Harris
SWEETWATER - Danny Lynn Harris, 30, died Sunday at Lake Brownwood after a boating accident.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Burial will be in Roscoe Cemetery.
Mr. Harris was born in Loraine and lived in Sweetwater all his life. He was a self-employed auto mechanic. He married Shirley Glass in 1994 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; two sons, Michael Lynn Harris and Brandon Lee Harris, both of Sweetwater; his father, James Harris of Sweetwater; four sisters, Mary Hollon of Sweetwater and Donna Summers, Glenda Kelly and Sherry Harris, all of Abilene; and four brothers, Ricky Phillips of Brownwood, Russell Phillips of Wichita Falls, Lee Phillips of California and James Douglas Phillips of Lubbock.

Lee Warren Holdridge
DE LEON - Lee Warren Holdridge, 90, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Wesley Howard officiating, assisted by Sherly Taylor. Burial will be in De Leon Cemetery, directed by Nowlin Funeral Home.
Mr. Holdridge was born in the Downing community and lived in De Leon all his life. He was a retired mortician and a member of First United Methodist Church, Masonic Lodge, Methodist board of stewards and, formerly, De Leon school board. He married Mildred Whitlow in 1928 in the Van Dyke community; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Joe Wayne Holdridge of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Ermilee Hollingsworth of Grapevine; three brothers, Marvin Holdridge of Comanche and W.C. Holdridge and Fred Holdridge, both of De Leon; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Evelyn Dawkins Smith
BAIRD - Evelyn Dawkins Smith, 88, of Fort Worth died Sunday at a Fort Worth retirement home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Admiral Cemetery with Ross Dawkins officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Admiral and lived in Huntsville for 40 years; she moved to Fort Worth six years ago. She was retired operator of Walker Butane Co. and was a member of the Church of Christ. She married Wade Smith in Breckenridge.
Survivors include three sisters, Marie Clark of Fort Worth, Opal Baldridge of Garfield, Ark., and Ilene Alldredge of Irving; two brothers, Kirby Dawkins of Midland and Ross Dawkins Sr. of Arlington; three nieces and two nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Johnny Edward Hill
BROWNWOOD - Johnny Edward Hill, 69, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Bill Furguson and Art Switzer officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Hill was born in Snyder and lived in Brownwood most of his life. He was a farmer-rancher and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his mother, Alma Page Crossman of Brownwood; one brother, Marshall Hill of Brownwood; one half-sister, Terry Hill Love of Florence; one niece, one nephew and four great-nephews.

David Russell Johnson
MSgt. (ret) David Russell "D.R." Johnson, 62, of Abilene died Friday at his home.
Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Robert Bush officiating.
Mr. Johnson was born in New York, N.Y., and moved to Abilene from Austin in 1985. He was a 41-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was a member of Air Force Sergeants Association, Veterans of Foreign Wars, AMVETS, Air Force Association and Masonic Lodge in Macon Ga., where he was a 32nd-degree Mason. He was active with the A.A.R.P. tax aide program and KACU pledge drives. He married Doriel S. Johnson in 1976 in New York.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one adopted son, Bennie Walton of Powder Springs, Ga.; one brother, Edward P. Johnson of Rochester, Minn.; and three sisters, Vivien Johnson of Rochester, Minn., and Elsie Brathwaite and Carole Samuels, both of New York.

Bessie Beall Wright
Bessie Beall Wright, 92, a longtime Abilene resident, died Monday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Dr. Clifford Stewart and the Rev. Scott Simpson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.
Mrs. Wright was born in Sweetwater, where she graduated from high school, and attended Trinity University and the University of Texas. She moved to Abilene from Clayton, N.M., in 1943. She was a homemaker and a 50-year member of First Central Presbyterian Church. She married Ernest A. Wright Sr. in 1926 in Sweetwater; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Allen Wright and Don Wright, both of Abilene; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, five step great-grandchildren, four nieces and three nephews.

Donald Salter
COMANCHE - Donald L. Salter, 76, died Sunday at his home.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Longoria and Gerald Burns officiating. Burial will be in Comanche Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Salter was born in Hasse and lived in Comanche County all his life. He was a farmer-rancher and had been a member of Comanche Roping Club for 40 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a Baptist. He married Mary Nell Flanagan in 1941 in Comanche.
Survivors include his wife, of Comanche; one daughter, Patsy Wright of Comanche; two sons, Charles Salter and Harold Ray Salter, both of Comanche; one sister, Iona Dickey of De Leon; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
