Latina Crawford
MERKEL - Latina Crawford, 80, died Monday in Merkel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Merkel First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Griffith and Marion Forville officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Crawford was born in Lamesa and married Onis Crawford in 1941 in Hamlin. She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone and co-owned Crawford's Department Store. She was a homemaker. She taught the young married adults Sunday school class at First Baptist Church and was active in the Women's Missionary Union.
Survivors include her husband, of Merkel; two sons, Jim Crawford of Odessa and Robert Crawford of Andrews; one daughter, Mignon Brown of New Home; two sisters, Ione Cheshier of Hamlin and Oleta Penzenik of Mineral Wells; and six grandchildren.

Bennie Bodine Milligan
COLEMAN - Bennie Bodine Milligan, 70, died Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Walker Funeral Home Chapel with John Daniel Bodine officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Milligan was born in Callahan County and lived most of her life in Coleman County. She was a homemaker and worked as a cook in the Novice school system. She was the widow of J.D. Bodine, whom she married in 1944. She married Bill Milligan in 1970 in Coleman and was a member of North Coleman Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; three daughters, Dannie Joe Gill of Rio Vista, and Jan Garner and Mandy Milligan, both of Coleman; one son, Johnny Bodine of Leesville, La.; three sisters, Oleta Sanders of Stanton, Louis McClure of Cibolo and Lanell McClure of Coleman; one brother, Billy James Merryman of Coleman; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Tommye Haile
GORMAN - Tommye C. Haile, 86, died Tuesday in a De Leon hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Bob Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
Mrs. Haile was born in Cisco and was a homemaker. She taught the Friendly Ladies Sunday School Class at First United Methodist Church for many years and was the widow of Rudolph Haile, whom she married in 1931 in Gorman.
Survivors include two daughters, Erin Klappenbach of Gorman and Gerry Chism of Brinkley, Ark.; one stepson, Rudolph "Rudy" Haile of Fort Worth; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Deward Awalt
ALBANY - Deward Awalt, 71, formerly of Winters, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Torian officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Winters.
Mr. Awalt was born in Pumphrey and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Ouita Baldwin in 1946 in Ballinger and lived in Midland before moving to Winters. He worked in the service station business in Winters and also was a bulldozier owner and operator. He moved to Albany in 1969 and was a member of Winters Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9193. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Albany; two sons, Terry Awalt of Colleyville and Randy Awalt of Albany; one daughter, Brenda Mitchell of Baird; three brothers, Charlie Awalt of Pumphrey, Joe Awalt Jr. of Norfolk, Va., and Dalvin Awalt of Midland; three sisters, Alta Kornegay of Brownfield, Winona McDowell of Lubbock and Loretta Gravella of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Frances Elaine McDonald
Frances Elaine McDonald, 88, died Wednesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Fairmont United Methodist Church with the Rev. John Lee officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. McDonald was born in Erath County and graduated from Chalk Mountain High School. She moved to Abilene in 1926 and attended business college. She was a homemaker. She taught Sunday school at Fairmont United Methodist Church for many years and was a past president of the Women of Fairmont UMC. She was the widow of Allen McDonald, whom she married in 1927 in Abilene.
Survivors include two sons, W.A. McDonald Jr. of Abilene and Calvin Warren McDonald of Farmersville; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 1226 Vine.

Ja'Mine Rozzell
Ja'Mine D. Rozzell, 18, died Monday in Albuquerque, N.M.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Faith Deliverance Community Church with the Rev. Jerry Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Rozzell was born in Bossier City, La., and graduated from Cooper High School in 1996. He was named to the all-district football and track teams at Cooper. He was returning to the University of New Mexico for his sophomore year at the time of his death and was a second-string fullback on the football team at the university. He was selected to Who's Who in sports and USA Today and was a member of Faith Deliverance Community Church.
Survivors include his parents, Benjamin III and Henrietta Rozzell of Abilene; two brothers, Ben Rozzell IV and Anthony L. Rozzell, both of Abilene; his grandfather, Charles Edwards of Lincolnton, N.C.; his great-grandmother, Maggie Edwards of Lincolnton, N.C.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Alonzo Ritche
Alonzo Ritche, 82, died Monday in a local hospital.
The body will be cremated and no services are planned. Arrangements were made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Ritche was born in Muncie, Ind., and worked in production for 22 years for Aero-Quip in Youngstown, Ohio. He moved to Abilene in 1996.
Survivors include two sons, William Carter of Columbus, Ohio, and McKinley Ritche of Abilene; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

J. Harold 'Snuffy' Herron
ALBANY - J. Harold "Snuffy" Herron, 61, of Abilene and formerly of Albany, died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Albany Cemetery with the Rev. Don Clevenger officiating, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mr. Herron was born in Palo Pinto County and married Linda Sue Mitchell in 1956 in Albany. He formerly co-owned a family trucking business in Albany. He also worked for the Texas Railroad Commission before becoming an electrician. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one daughter, Jamie Lynn Daugherty of Abilene; one son, Joseph Vernon Herron of Pratt, Kan.; and five grandchildren.

Olive Purcell
BRADY - Olive M. Purcell, 93, mother of an Abilene resident, died Tuesday in a Carlsbad, N.M., care facility.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Leatherwood Colonial Funeral Home Chapel with James Eubank officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Mrs. Purcell moved to the Brady area in 1925 and was a homemaker. She farmed for many years. She was a former member of Lohn Church of Christ and Fourth and Bridge Church of Christ and was the widow of Samuel Jefferson "Tucker" Purcell, whom she married in 1922 in Red Rock.
Survivors include three sons, Conley A. Purcell of Brady, James Floyd Purcell of Carlsbad, N.M., and Alvin LeRoy Purcell of Riverside; one daughter, Dorothy Nell Varner of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.

Ronnie James Wall
FLOYDADA - Ronnie James Wall, 38, of Abilene and formerly of Floydada, died Saturday in Abilene.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Floydada First Baptist Church with Alex Dwayne Wall, Vernon Session and Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Floydada Cemetery, directed by Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home.
Mr. Wall was born in Lockney and graduated from Floydada High School. He attended Angelo State University in San Angelo and moved, in 1989, to Abilene, where he lived for four years. He worked as a night manager for Fiesta Grocery stores. He moved in 1996 to Plainview where he lived for eight months before returning to Abilene. He was a partner in Ron's Longhorn Limousine Service in Abilene at the time of his death and was a member of Free Church of God in Christ in Jesus Name in Floydada.
Survivors include his parents, Alex and Leddie Wall of Floydada; four brothers, Jerry Wall, Arthur Wall and Allen Wall, all of Plainview, and Alex Dwayne Wall of Amarillo; four sisters, Jeannie Glenn, Brenda Wall and Sandra Tolson, all of Plainview, and Linda McClendon of Amarillo; and his grandfather, Preston Davis of San Diego.
