Mattie Bell Gillespie
CLYDE - Mattie Bell Gillespie, 81, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Parker Funeral Home Chapel in Baird with the Rev. David Verbeck officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Dallas.
Mrs. Gillespie was born in Crowell and lived in Dallas for more than 50 years. She operated the Charm Beauty Shop in Dallas for more than 50 years. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Paul Gillespie, whom she married in the Dallas area.
Survivors include one sister, Dorothy Norman of Clyde; and one niece and six nephews.

'Pepaw' Clarence Floyd
BROWNWOOD - "Pepaw" Clarence Floyd, 80, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Bangs Cemetery, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Floyd was born in Electra and formerly lived in Rising Star. He was self-employed in yard maintenance. He was a member of the Assembly of God and was the widower of Cleo Bead Snow Floyd, whom he married in 1936 in Purcell, Okla.
Survivors include two daughters, Hazel Lewis of Brownwood and Connie Bond of Rising Star; one brother, Arch Floyd of Snyder; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Jasper Lynn Herndon Sr.
SWEETWATER - Jasper Lynn Herndon Sr., 80, meter shop worker for Pioneer Natural Gas for 21 years, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Joel McCoy and the Rev. Malcolm Brown officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson.
Mr. Herndon was born in Anson, where he married Lila Belle Moore in 1938, and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He sang with the Golden Chords choral group at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; three sons, Jasper Lynn Herndon Jr. of Sweetwater, Louis C. Herndon of Cedar Hill and John F. Herndon of Harker Heights; two sisters, Martha Knox of Abilene and Alice Bristow of Big Spring; one brother, Leo Herndon of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Rick Beck
AUSTIN - Rick A. Beck, 38, formerly of Abilene, died Friday from injuries received in an automobile accident between Baird and Coleman.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Mount Zion Cemetery in Thackerville, Okla., directed by Clement-Keel Funeral Home of Gainesville.
Mr. Beck was born in San Bernardino, Calif., and married Rachel Hill in 1990 in Abilene. He worked for The Western Fastener Co. and was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, formerly of Abilene; a longtime companion, Sally English of Austin; two sons, Lance Beck of Gainesville and Christopher Beck of Electra; two stepsons, William Polk and Dusty Polk, both of Electra; his mother, Willie Ohlson of Gainesville; one brother, James Green of Gainesville; and four sisters, Sharon Hickerson of Sacramento, Calif., Sue Little of Corinth, Beverly Guttridge of Abilene and Bonnie Norris of Kearney, Ariz.

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Corene M. Ball, 67, sister of a Rochester resident, died Saturday in North Richland Hills.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville. Burial will be in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park in Colleyville.
Mrs. Ball was born in Eliasville and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Melvin Ball of North Richland Hills; two sons, Darrell Ball of Granbury and Randy Harris of Odessa; one daughter, Connie Davidson of Conroe; two sisters, Marie Herring of Fresno, Calif., and Ruby Cockerell of Rochester; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Betty Jo Helton Rudd
HASKELL - Betty Jo Helton Rudd, 69, died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Christian Church with Dusty Garison officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Rudd was born in Blanket and was a homemaker. She worked as a baker for more than 20 years. She was a member of First Christian Church and was the widow of Chester H. Rudd, whom she married in 1951 in Carlsbad, N.M.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Shirley Brabbin of Garland and Irene Thornton of Goldsboro, N.C.; two stepsons, Johnny Rudd and Ernest Rudd, both of Daingerfield; two sisters, Loree Alcorn of Cheyenne, Wyo., and Maude Carter of Rule; three nephews and four nieces; six great-nephews and seven great-nieces; and one great-great-nephew.

Burl Eugene Horton Jr.
Burl Eugene Horton Jr., 38, of Abilene died Friday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Paulding officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Horton was born in Brownwood and had lived in Abilene since 1979. He was employed by Skinny's Convenience Stores, was a member of South Side Baptist Church and was an Army veteran. He married Teresa E. Preece in 1978 in Brownwood.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Charles Horton and Quincy Horton, both of Abilene; one daughter, Vanessa LaPole of Abilene; his mother, Geneta Horton of Abilene; one sister, Naomi Holder of Early; one granddaughter and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

James Allen Moore
James Allen Moore, 59, a resident of San Angelo State School in Carlsbad, died Saturday at a San Angelo hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Chaplain John Laster and the Rev. Keith Davidson officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Hwy. 277 South.
Mr. Moore was born in Abilene and graduated from Jayton High School in 1956. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his mother, Ruby Moore of Sweetwater; one sister, Lylia Bennett of Sweetwater; and two nephews.

Norma Rawson Rose
HAMLIN - Norma G. Rawson Rose, 65, of Abilene died Saturday at her home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Tracy Watson officiating. Burial will be in McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rose was born in Stamford and graduated from Weaver High School in Ogden, Utah, in 1949. She attended Weaver College and Arizona State University and lived in Mesa, Ariz., from 1950-1995, when she moved to Abilene. She was a homemaker and active in Girl Scouts in Arizona. She was a member and Sunday school teacher of the Pentecostal church. She married LeRoy "Roy" Rose in 1950 in Hamlin.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one daughter, Sonya Kay Rose of Abilene; and her mother, Lucille Rawson of Hamlin.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today.
