Frankie Moss
ANSON - Frankie Moss, 82, the first woman to serve on a jury in Jones County, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Anson with the Revs. Mike Eklund and Lee Welch officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Moss was born in Bells, Texas. She was the widow of Ray Moss, whom she married in 1942 in Grayson County. She moved to Anson in 1945 from Grayson County.
Mrs. Moss was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Anson, where she taught Sunday School and served on the food committee for many years.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Dottie P. Griffin
MERKEL - Dottie P. Griffin, 84, of Merkel and formerly of San Angelo, died Thursday at a Merkel nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Highway 277 South with the Rev. Bill Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Griffin was born in Deavalle, Okla., and attended school in San Angelo. She moved to Merkel from San Angelo in 1967.
She married Denson Griffin in San Angelo in 1967. She was a homemaker and a Methodist church member in San Angelo.
Survivors include her husband, Denson Griffin of Merkel; four step-daughters, Marilla Barley of Tye, Gretta Kriner of South Carolina, and Jennifer Haugen and Clemma Turner of Washington; a sister, Olean Politner of Vancouver, Wash.; a brother, Derwood Pennington of Lubbock; nine step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Robert P. "R.P." Fite
ALBANY - Robert P. "R.P." Fite, 89, died Thursday in a Llano hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Albany Cemetery with the Rev. John Tunnell officiating directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Homes.
Mr. Fite was born in Baird and lived most of his life in Albany. He was married to Annie Lee "Dick" Crow who preceded him in death. He moved to Spur in 1910 and then to Albany in 1919 where he lived until 1996 when he moved to Kingsland, Texas. He worked in the oil field and as a butcher but most of his life was as a stone mason. He served in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II assigned to the 214th Base Unit.
Survivors include one sister, Artie May Duke of Palm Springs, Calif.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Bill Roland Deaver
Bill Roland Deaver, 73, died Friday at a local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory with the Rev. Jack Ridlehoover officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sparkman/Hillcrest Cemetery in Dallas directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Mr. Deaver was born in Dallas. He married Tommie Lois Holson in Dallas in 1957. They moved to Abilene from Houston in 1983. He was a graduate of W.H. Adamson High School and attended SMU in Dallas.
Mr. Deaver was a retired petroleum landman, and had been employed by Oryx Energy Company and Sun Oil Co. for a total of 37 years. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a staff sergeant. He was a member of the American Association of Petroleum Landmen. He was past president of the Abilene Petroleum Landmen's Association, and was a member of the Houston Association of Petroleum Landmen. He was also a member of the Just Adults Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Tommie Deaver of Abilene; two sons, James R. Deaver of Katy and Brian R. Deaver of Midland; two brothers, Tommy H. Deaver of Gun Barrel City and Danny Deaver of San Marcos; and one grandchild.

Lon Gray
COLEMAN - Lon M. Gray, 85, of Coleman died Friday in Fort Worth. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Reed Justus officiating. Burial will be at Burkett Cemetery.
Mr. Gray was born and raised in Burkett. He married Lorene Harris in 1934. He farmed and ranched near Burkett until moving to Coleman in 1979. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, Lorene Gray of Coleman; one son Don Gray of Hurst; a daughter, Sue Price of Fort Worth; a sister, Maureen Gilliam of Kermit; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home for visitation from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Memorials may be made to Family Hospice, 4040 Fossil Creek Blvd, Fort Worth, 76137 or American Diabetes Association.

Josephine Heffington
BANGS - Josephine Garms Heffington, 89, of Bangs died Saturday at the Brownwood hospital. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bangs Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. today at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood.
Mrs. Heffington was a lifelong resident of the Bangs area. She was the widow of Truman "Curley" Heffington, whom she married in 1924.
She worked at the Brownwood Manufacturing Co. and later at Twiling Nursing Home. She was a member of the Bangs Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Charles "June" Winfrey of Bangs, a sister, Nina K. Eiland of Bangs; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Ione 'Miss Gladys' Seward
BROWNWOOD - Ione "Miss Gladys" Seward, 92, died Thursday at a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rocky Creek Cemetery.
Ms. Seward was born in Brownwood. After 45 years with the city of Brownwood she retired as head of the water department. At 65 she became a nurse's aide for 12 years. She was a life-long member of Johnson Memorial/Early United Methodist and served as treasurer for many years. She was a member of the Golden Key Rebekah Lodge #26 for 49 years.
Survivors include many nephews and nieces and 11 grand nieces and nephews.

Thelma Hamilton
JAYTON - Thelma Hamilton, 83, died Friday afternoon in a Stamford hospital. Services will be at 10:30 Tuesday in the First Baptist Church of Jayton with the Rev. David Fletcher officiating. Burial will be in the Jayton Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hamilton was born in Gonzales County. She was the widow of G.L. Hamilton, Sr. whom she married in 1945 in Abilene. She lived in Jayton for the last 50 years and was a member of the Eastern Star and a member of the First Baptist Church in Jayton. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Hamilton and G.L. Hamilton, both of Jayton; one daughter, La Juana Ross of Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Lorena Edgar of Victoria, Dorothy Taylor of Stamford, Imagene Weing of Ontario, Calif. and Geneva Owen of San Antonio; one brother, A.C. Worthy of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Jewel Heffington
BANGS - Jewel Heffington, 86, died Saturday at a local nursing home. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Bangs First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jimmy Allen and G.I. Norris officiating. Burial will be at Bangs Cemetery directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Ms. Heffington was born in Bangs. She was the widow of Fred J. Heffington whom she married in Bangs in 1970. She was a member of the Bangs Home Demonstration Club and was named woman of the year in 1974. She was a lifetime resident of Brown and Coleman Counties. She was also a member of Bangs First Baptist Church and a homemaker.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.

Harold Dean Blake
DALLAS - Harold Dean Blake, 61, brother of a Winter's woman, of Dallas, died Saturday in a Dallas hospital. Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in the Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Gehrels officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery directed by the funeral home.
Mr. Blake was born in Proctor. He was raised from the age of 8 in the Buckners Orphin's Home in Dallas where he attended and graduated high school. He served in the Navy for four years and returned to Dallas where he was employed by Floyd West Insurance and later for Star Automotive as a warehouseman. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sisters, Vivian Smith of Winters and Maxine Wolf of Toledo, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.

Jaylon Lee Daniell
Jaylon Lee Daniell, 21, died Friday at a local hospital after a traffic accident.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Daniell was born in Hobbs, N.M., and moved to Abilene nine years ago from Tatum, N.M. He graduated from Jim Ned High School and had been employed by Victor Equipment. He was a member of Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his parents, Loyd and Gail Daniell of Abilene; one son, Tanner Jay Daniell of Merkel; one brother, Wade Daniell of Abilene; grandparents Ruby Cardwell of Tatum and Lois Daniell of Abilene; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
