Ted Gunn
MIDLAND - Ted Gunn, 61, formerly of the Big Country, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Glass Chapel of Midland First United Methodist Church with C. Lane Boyd officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery, directed by Ellis Funeral Home.
Mr. Gunn was born in Sweetwater and graduated from Baird High School in 1953. He married Carolyn Ann Nichols in 1955 in Baird. He worked for Texas and Pacific Railroad for five years before joining El Paso Natural Gas in 1958 as an electrician in Jal, N.M. He was transferred to Dumas in 1968 and back to Jal in 1984. He was transferred in 1990 to Midland, where he became a field services manager for the firm's southern division. He retired in 1993 and was a member of Midland Genealogical Society, Sons of the Republic of Texas and First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Midland; one son, Brian Gunn of York, Pa.; one daughter, Cindy Eisman of San Antonio; his mother, Billie Francis Gunn of Sweetwater; one sister, Jo Ann McDonald of Fort Worth; four grandchildren; one aunt; and two nieces.

Dan Jobe
CISCO - Dan Jobe, 61, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Clinton officiating. Burial will be in Scranton Cemetery, directed by Chambers-Wilcox Funeral Directors.
Mr. Jobe was born in Eastland County and grew up in Cisco. He graduated from Cisco Junior College and Texas Weslyan College and married Mary Lou Smith in 1963 in Cisco. He taught school from 1963-76 in Desdemona, Putnam and Cisco. He was a member of National Guard Air Reserves and Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; one son, Chris Jobe of Cisco; one daughter, Michelle Johnson of Mesquite; one brother, Don Jobe of Addison; one sister, Laverne Jobe of Waco; and one grandchild.

Karen Lynn Rock
Karen Lynn Rock, 59, of Brady and formerly of Abilene, died Wednesday in Albany.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Elmwood Baptist Church with the Rev. John Wade officiating. Burial will be in Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Rock was born in Rock Rapids, Iowa, and lived from 1958-81 in Abilene, where she worked for West Texas Utilities. She retired from Central Power and Light in Corpus Christi and was a member of Brighton Park Baptist Church in Corpus Christi.
Survivors include her husband, Glen Rock of Brady; two sons, Rusty Rock and Randy Rock, both of Corpus Christi; three daughters, Vicki Smith of Kingsland, Terri Huffman of San Antonio and Cindi Oman of Sinton; one brother, Ted Harsma of Camarillo, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Darrell Kevin 'Buddy' Stout
Darrell Kevin "Buddy" Stout, 34, died Monday from injuries received in a plane crash in Albany.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Bible Chapel Church with the Revs. Don R. Woods and David Baxley officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mr. Stout was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1980. He attended Texas State Technical College in Sweetwater and graduated as a flight instructor from Spartan School of Aerodynamics in Tulsa, Okla. He worked as a mechanic at Stout Gulf Service Station and co-owned Tradition Automotive Racing & Supply. He also was employed by Fain Automotive and, for about a year, was a flight instructor at Abilene Aero Inc.
Survivors include two daughters, Dari F. Stout of Abilene and Heather M. Stout of Okinawa, Japan; his parents, A.G. "Shorty" and Bettye Fortune Stout of Abilene; two sisters, Sharron Butler of Abilene and Shallan "Shelli" Vercell of Waxahachie; and one niece and one nephew.
An account for the educational benefit of his children has been established at First National Bank, 400 Pine, Abilene 79601.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.

Wayman Earl Pistole
Wayman Earl Pistole, 79, died Thursday at his home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Hillcrest Church of Christ with Bill Luttrell and Rusty McLen officiating. Private burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Pistole was born in Logan County, Ark., and graduated from Paris High School in Arkansas. He served with the 90th Infantry Division in ammunition storage and procurement during World War II in Frances, Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany. He married Margie Raye Barnhart in 1948 in Abilene and graduated from Abilene Christian University in 1949 and Hardin-Simmons University in 1952. He earned a certificate in counseling and guidance from North Texas State University.
He was a school teacher, administrator, counselor and coach in Clyde, Vernon, Munday, Noodle and Abilene until retiring as counselor of Franklin Junior High School in 1982. He was a life member of the Texas State Teachers Association. He was president of the Abilene Classroom Teachers Association and served as an Abilene delegate to the National Education Association convention. He was a member of the Texas Personnel and Guidance Association, and Texas and Abilene Retired Teachers associations. He was a member of Good Sam Club for many years and was a local chapter president. A volunteer with Meals on Wheels Plus, he and his wife were honored in 1995 for recognizing an injured elderly Abilene woman's predicament and seeing that she got help.
He served on the Christian Service Center's advisory board and was a class chairman, care group leader and member of the benevolent committee at Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, James Jay Pistole of Beaumont; one daughter, Jennifer Tedford of Abilene; one sister, Eileen Anderson of Searcy, Ark.; three grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be from 4:30 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Alvin McCoy
Alvin McCoy, 69, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in North 10th Street Church of Christ. Burial with military honors will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mr. McCoy was born in Mineral Wells and graduated from Abilene Black High School. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict and worked as a shoe shine attendant at Dale's Barber Shop. He supported the Woodson football and band booster clubs, American Cancer Society, American Red Cross, Boy and Girl Scouts, and was a former member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sisters, Sarah Bell of Abilene, Ola Ambush of Phoenix, Ariz., and Clara M. Corsey of Laguna Beach, Calif.; four brothers, Nolan Corsey of Corona, Calif., Kenneth Corsey of Seattle, Gary Corsey of Kent, Wash., and Dale Corsey of Stockton, Calif.; two aunts; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will be at 1758 Walnut.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Daniel Salazar Meraz
Daniel S. Meraz, 92, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
The body will be cremated and a memorial service will be held in California at a later date. Local arrangements are being made by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Meraz was born in Mexico and lived in California for many years until moving to Abilene in 1995. He worked in the construction business for more than 50 years before retiring. He was a Catholic and was the widower of Rita Meraz.
Survivors include three sons, Daniel Meraz Jr. of Ridgecrest, Calif., Frank Meraz of Anaheim, Calif., and Charles Meraz of Jackson, Mich.; two daughters, Viola Meraz and Estela Bunce, both of Abilene; and one brother, Rutilo Meraz of Mexico.

Sharon Lee McKeehan
Sharon Lee McKeehan, 54, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd, with Dyron Daughrity officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Sipe Springs Cemetery in Comanche County.
Mrs. McKeehan was born in San Diego and married James McKeehan in 1964 in Topeka, Kan. She was a homemaker and moved to Abilene in 1974 from Sacramento, Calif. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one son, John McKeehan of Abilene; three daughters, Ruth Theocharides of New Orleans, Debra Bean of Sonora and Rhonda McKeehan of Abilene; her father, Lee Eakin of Shelton, Wash.; one brother, Richard Eakin of Topeka, Kan.; one sister, Debra Phillips of Topeka, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

Ruth Callan
ROTAN - Ruth Callan, 64, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rotan Church of Christ with Barry Day and Mike Dennis officiating. Burial will be in Rotan Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Callan was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School in 1950. She attended Abilene Christian University. She married Dr. Maurice Callan in 1965 in Abilene and then moved to Rotan. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Rotan; three daughters, Roxanne Wylie of Knoxville, Tenn., Janet Branch of Aspermont and Andrea Dunham of Phoenix, Ariz.; four sons, Robert Callan of Tucson, Ariz., Larry Callan of Rotan, Keith Callan of Mexico City and Randy Callan of Roby; two sisters, Barbara Atwood of Abilene and Nancy Gravens of Anson; and 14 grandchildren.
