Evangeline Ruth Stanley
Evangeline Ruth Stanley, 85, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Cherry Hill Cemetery in Gloucester, Mass.
Mrs. Stanley was born in Gloucester, Mass., and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene in 1985 from Kittery, Maine. She was a Catholic and was the widow of Benjamin Stanley, whom she married in 1937 in Gloucester, Mass.
Survivors include one son, Bob Stanley of Abilene; one grandson, Robert Stanley Jr. of Abilene; and three great-grandchildren.

Bennie Bryant
BRECKENRIDGE -- Bennie Bryant, 96, charter member of Bethany Baptist Church, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mrs. Bryant was born in Stephens County and attended school in Cross Roads. She worked in the cafeteria at East Elementary School in Breckenridge and as a seamstress for Collins Manufacturing. She was a member of Mary Martha Sunday School Class at Bethany Baptist Church and was the widow of James A. Bryant, whom she married in 1920.
Survivors include one son, Max Bryant of Sherman; one daughter, Ludell Cox of Abilene; one sister, Yuba Johnson of Houston; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Kitchen Fund or a favorite charity and left at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Ofelia Vela
BANGS -- Ofelia Vela, 51, died Monday at her home.
Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman with the Rev. Larry Cyr officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery, directed by Henderson Funeral Home of Coleman.
Mrs. Vela was born in Santa Anna, where she attended school, and married Rafael Vela in 1973 in Dimmitt. She worked as a dietician at the Twilight Nursing Home in Bangs and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Coleman.
Survivors include her husband, of Bangs; one daughter, Christine Crysler of Houston; four sisters, Virginia Ponce and Isabel Quiroz, both of Abilene, Sammy Espitia of Coleman and Elisia Diaz of Dalton, Ga.; and eight brothers, Balentine Diaz and Lupe Diaz, both of Coleman, Bictorino Diaz and Jose Diaz, both of Santa Anna, Ray Diaz and Jesse Diaz, both of Fort Worth, Richard Diaz of Cuero and Luis Diaz of California.

Billie Freeman
ASPERMONT -- Billie T. Freeman, 73, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in Aspermont First Baptist Church with the Revs. Barry Taylor and E.L. Holder officiating. Burial will be in Aspermont Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Haskell and married Steve Freeman in 1962 in Aspermont. She was a homemaker and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Aspermont; one daughter, Trisha Cockrell of Snyder; three sisters, Oweida Weaver and Joyce Chilton, both of Stamford, and Jackie Riley of Albany; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Gladys Nell 'Glade' Costin
COLORADO CITY -- Gladys Nell "Glade" Costin, 79, died Tuesday in a Pennsylvania hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kay Reed officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mrs. Costin was born in Hamilton County and lived in Colorado City most of her life. She was a homemaker and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one son, James C. Costin of Gwynedd, Pa.; five sisters, Jean Maddox of Big Spring, Louise Ingram, Francis Barr and Patricia Bradford, all of Vincent, and Ruth Wirsching of Corpus Christi; and two grandchildren.

Mary Guernsey
ANSON -- Mary R. Guernsey, 75, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Tom Lewis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Guernsey was born in Mound City, Ill., and married William "Bill" P. Guernsey in 1946 in Decatur, Ill. She was a homemaker and moved to Anson in 1986 from Decatur, Ill. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Anson; three sons, William "Mike" Guernsey of Anson, Billy Welty of Davenport, Iowa, and Fredrick Ray Welty of Flora, Ill.; three sisters, Margaret Lewis of Henderson, Ky., Sylvia May Lewis of Trent and Dorothy Wade of Fort Phantom Lake; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at 101 Freedom Road.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Monez Neeper Scogin
SWEETWATER -- Monez Neeper Scogin, 70, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday in Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Malcolm Brown, Gary Brown and Carl Thorell officiating. Burial will be in Palava Cemetery.
Mrs. Scogin was born in Brownfield and was a homemaker. She was a member of Highland Heights United Methodist Church and was the widow of Robinson "Bob" Hendon Scogin, whom she married in 1945 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis C. Scogin of Fort Worth and Robert Scogin of Cleburne; two sisters, Nancy McGinley of Sweetwater and Gloria Ferrell of Buffalo Gap; two brothers, Laddie E. Neeper of Bellflower, Calif., and Jimmie Neeper of Grand Prairie; and two grandchildren.

O.V. 'Scottie' Scott
BROWNWOOD -- O.V. "Scottie" Scott, 72, of Harbor Point at Lake Brownwood, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with Dan Chapman officiating. Burial with Masonic rites will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Mr. Scott was born in Brownwood and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He formerly lived in Odessa. He worked as a plant supervisor for El Paso Products and was a member of May Masonic Lodge 574. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Wanda Perry Scott, whom he married in 1946 in Odessa.
Survivors include one son, Ronnie O. Scott of Odessa; two daughters, Dena Scowden of Lake Brownwood and Karen Stepan of The Colony; one brother, Hollis Scott of Victoria; one sister, Pat Coker of Midland; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Francis Sevallos Rangel
SWEETWATER -- Francis Sevallos Rangel, 82, charter member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Timothy Guthridge officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Mrs. Rangel was born in Mexico and moved to Sweetwater in 1923. She married Dennis Rangel Sr. in 1936 in Sweetwater and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, of Sweetwater; four daughters, Mary Nieto, Jessica Rangel and Lucy Herrera, all of Sweetwater, and Rachel Guerrero of Dallas; two sons, Johnny Rangel and Dennis Rangel Jr., both of Sweetwater; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
