Joel Tinder
RANGER -- Joel E. Tinder, 71, truck driver for Allied Van Lines for 40 years, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Bullock Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Tinder was born in Peoria, Ill., and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married Connie Mayhall in 1979 in Elkhart, Ind., and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Ranger; one stepdaughter, Sandra Lee Lawson of Ranger; one stepson, Terry Schuessler; one son, Randy Tinder of Indiana; two daughters, Rose Tinder and Tammy Tinder, both of Indiana; and one grandchild.

Era Harris
BROWNWOOD -- Era M. Harris, 95, formerly of Temple, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hillcrest Cemetery in Temple, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harris was born in Brownwood and lived most of her life in Temple. She attended school in Temple and Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton. She was a homemaker and returned to Brownwood in 1968. She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and was the widow of D.H. Harris, whom she married in 1930 in Temple.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.

Ollie Lee Brown Deese
COLORADO CITY -- Ollie Lee Brown Deese, 68, lifelong local resident, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Howard Jernigan officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery.
Ms. Deese was born in Colorado City and was a retired restaurant cook. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Stanley Gilbert Brown, whom she married in 1950 in Colorado City.
Survivors include three daughters, Sue Craighead Perez, Reta Isbell and Mary Sally Brown, all of Colorado City; two sons, Stanley G. "Shorty" Brown and Donnie Brown, both of Pahrump, Nev.; one sister, Katherine Reed of Sidney; one brother, William Virgil Ward of Buena Vista, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Lillie Monk
BROWNWOOD -- Lillie (Mrs. F.L.) Monk, 91, of Austin and formerly of Brownwood, died Thursday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Fairview Cemetery in Grosvenor with Dr. Ron Cook officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Monk was born in Brown County and was a homemaker. She moved to Austin four years ago from Brownwood. She was a member of Brownwood First Baptist Church and was the widow of F.L. Monk, whom she married in 1942 in Texarkana.
Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Insall of Austin; one sister, Sammie Bettis Stephens of Brownwood; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Tana Maurine Sharp
GORMAN -- Tana Maurine Sharp, 45, died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Gorman First Baptist Church with the Revs. Jerry Maston and Craig Rhoton officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sharp was born in Gorman, where she lived most of her life, and married E.J. Sharp in 1970 in Ranger. She worked as a secretary for Chapparrel Steel and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Olden; two daughters, Kim Cockburn of Gorman and Cherissa Sharp of Olden; one brother, Nick Eaker of Boerne; and two grandchildren.

William Reece
BANGS -- William A. Reece, 89, formerly of Hobart, Okla., died Friday in a Brownwood hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Rose Cemetery in Hobart, Okla., directed by Bangs Funeral Home.
Mr. Reece was born in Tennessee and married Dorothy Messick in 1934 in Hobart, Okla. He was a stockfarmer and moved to Bangs seven years ago. He was a member of Hobart First Baptist Church in Hobart, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, of Bangs; four sons, Max Reece of Wichita Falls, Mickey Reece and Jim Reece, both of Bangs, and Larry Stephen Reece of Mullin; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Gary Edwards
EARLY -- Gary O. Edwards, 96, died Thursday in Austin.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Bee House Cemetery, east of Evant in Coryell County, with the Rev. John Beckling officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mr. Edwards was born in Edith, Texas, and lived in San Angelo and Bronte before moving to Early in 1980. He was a member of Angelo Heights Methodist Church in San Angelo and was the widower of Beulah Mae Tabor Edwards, whom he married in 1923 in Bee House.
Survivors include 10 children, Melba Rogers of Fort Worth, Maola Rainey of Ripley, Miss., Alene Easley and Dottie Edwards, both of Taylor, William Edwards of Seattle, Joyce Jones, Jill Hale and Jack Edwards, all of Austin, Gary O. Edwards Jr. of San Angelo, and Judy Williams of Early; 29 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Fannie Vestal
Fannie Vestal, 91, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road, with the Rev. Curtis Morton officiating. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery in Santa Anna.
Mrs. Vestal grew up in Comanche County and lived in Coleman County until 1952, when she moved to Abilene. She worked for T.S. Lankford's & Sons for more than 10 years. She was a member of North Park Baptist Church. She married A.D. Constable in 1928 in Coleman; he preceded her in death. She married Charles Marvin Vestal in 1962.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; three sons, Leon Constable and George Constable, both of Abilene, and Dean Constable of Midland; two daughters, Louise Brown of Abilene and Dorothy Logan of Gonzales; one brother, George Ellis Brown of Abilene; 13 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. and at 6384 Antilley Road.

Arthur Richardson
Arthur B. Richardson, 83, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Kenneth Fletcher and Jean Ely officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Richardson grew up in Hamby, where he farmed for more than 40 years. He worked for Gooch Packing Co. for two years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Northside Free Methodist Church.
Survivors include one nephew and eight nieces, including Mrs. Burl (Erma Lee) Owens of Abilene.

Jerry York
BRECKENRIDGE -- Jerry G. York, 54, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lord's Old Time Gospel Church with the Rev. Mike Spencer officiating. Burial will be in Reynolds Ranch Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. York was born in Aransas Pass, grew up in Henrietta and graduated from Jacksboro High School. He moved to Breckenridge from Lubbock in 1966 and had worked for Baxley Manufacturing from 1973-1988. He was a chef and woodworker and a member of Lord's Old Time Gospel Church. He married Patsy Reynolds in 1963 in Breckenridge.
Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; three daughters, Carrie Hopkins of Stanton, Laurie Miles of Abilene and Misty York of San Angelo; two brothers, Leon York of Keller and Bobby York of Henrietta; one sister, Pat Wilson of Archer City; and four grandchildren.
Memorials to Lord's Old Time Gospel Church may be left at the funeral home.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.
