Cressie Obener Bryant
Cressie Obener Bryant, 82, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Abilene Bible Church with Dr. Tim Temple officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Bryant was born in Gatesville in Coryell County and attended school in Elmdale. She moved to Abilene in 1925 from Elmdale and worked as a chef at the Abilene Woman's Club for 11 years. She also was a private duty nurse and a homemaker. She was a member of Abilene Bible Church and was the widow of Robert Arvil Bryant, whom she married in 1938 in Haskell.
Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces and great great nephews.

Curtis Waylon Norwood
COMANCHE -- Curtis Waylon Norwood, 49, died Wednesday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Stag Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Don Longoria officiating, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Norwood was born in Comanche and formerly worked in the oil field.
Survivors include one son, Kenneth Norwood of Alvin; and several aunts and uncles.

Sibyl Long
HASKELL -- Sibyl Long, 79, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. today in Haskell Church of Christ with Dale Huff, Ford Cole and the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. in Kermit Cemetery with the Rev. John Cary officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Long was born in Quanah and was a homemaker. She worked as a beautician and formerly lived in Kermit. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge, Northside Baptist Church in Kermit and, later, Haskell First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Barney Eugene Long, whom she married in 1934 in Quanah.
Survivors include one son, Gene Long of Haskell; one brother, F.B. Cook of Amarillo; three grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Margaret Arleen Collins
Margaret Arleen Collins, 75, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. H.B. Terry officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Collins was born in Little Rock, Ark., and graduated from Bartlett High School in Bartlett, Tenn. She was a homemaker and moved to Abilene in 1946 from Memphis, Tenn. She was active in Abilene Baptist Social Ministry. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and was the widow of Clark Collins Jr., whom she married in 1942 in Hernando, Miss.
Survivors include two sons, Clark Collins III of Conroe and Earnest Wayne Collins of Potosi; two daughters, Sharon Elizabeth White of Justin and Margaret Yvonne Livingston of Clyde; three sisters, Elizabeth Baker of Memphis, Tenn., Lucille Briley of Abilene and Louise Alexsick of Santa Rosa, Calif.; one brother, James Clyde "Jim" Williams of Memphis, Tenn.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Second Baptist Church, 901 Victoria, Abilene 79603.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

David Craig Miller
David Craig Miller, 26, of Trent, died Thursday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Trent Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mr. Miller was born in Bossier City, La., and moved to the Abilene area in 1982 from Kansas. He graduated from Abilene High School in 1988 and was a member of the U.S. Army's Mechanized Infantry. He was a Gulf War veteran and worked as a cotton grader for the USDA's Cotton Division. He was Jewish.
Survivors include his parents, Steven and Patricia Miller of Trent; his grandparents, Robert and Ellen Miller of Mount Jackson, Va.; his great-grandmother, Fannie Baker of Mount Jackson, Va.; and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Lucille Gregory
THROCKMORTON -- Lucille Gregory, 91, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Merriman-Archer Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Cliff Lester and Ava Berry officiating. Burial will be in Throckmorton Cemetery.
Mrs. Gregory was born in Howard County and moved to Throckmorton in 1914. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Bert Gregory, whom she married in 1929 in Seymour.
Survivors include one daughter, Fleda Lambert of Abilene; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

F.H. Duncan
MERKEL -- F.H. Duncan, 85, died Friday in Merkel.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Merkel Church of Christ with Mark Whitmire and Larry Gill officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home.
Mr. Duncan was born in Trent and lived in the Merkel-Trent area all of his life. He married Helen Hogue in 1936 in Merkel and worked as a car salesman. He was a farmer and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; one son, Kenneth Duncan of Merkel; two brothers, Earl Duncan of Russelville, Ark., and R.A. "Shorty" Duncan of Post; one sister, Clarice Blankenship of Hamlin; and two grandchildren.

Hetty Faye Brown
COLEMAN -- Hetty Faye Brown, 69, lifelong Coleman County resident, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Posey officiating. Burial will be in Coleman City Cemetery.
Mrs. Brown was born in Coleman and was a homemaker. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Walter L. Brown, whom she married in 1944 in Coleman.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Baird and Gloria Loyd, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; three sons, Jimmy Brown and Billy Brown, both of Coleman, and Morris Brown of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Ruby Haney of Dallas and Ruth Simpson of Coleman; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

John Wilson Jr.
RANGER -- John Wilson Jr., 67, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Ranger First Baptist Church with the Revs. Audrey Wesley, L.S. Wilson and Danny Bryant officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Wilson was born in Edna and attended school in Slaughter and Mineral Wells. He married Johnnie Green in 1963 in Eastland. He worked as a butcher and repairman at the Ranger frozen food plant before it closed and then was self employed for many years. He was a longtime deacon at St. Paul Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Ranger; his mother, Viola Kindred of Fort Worth; one brother, the Rev. L.S. Wilson of Dallas; two sisters, Mary Belving of Arlington and Louise J. Hobbs of Fort Worth; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Lois Wren Young
BROWNWOOD -- Lois Wren Young, 90, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Andrew Bradley officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Young was born in Comanche County and graduated from Howard Payne Academy and Howard Payne College. She taught school in Waco until retiring and moved to Brownwood in 1978. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church and was the widow of Amos Young, whom she married in Waco.
Survivors include many nieces, nephews and cousins.
