Lillian Barbara Verhalen
KNOX CITY -- Lillian Barbara Verhalen, 84, lifelong local resident, died Thursday at her home.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in McCauley-Smith Funeral Home in Munday. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rhineland. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Rhineland.
Ms. Verhalen was born in Knox County and was a homemaker.
Survivors include one brother, Matt Verhalen of Knox City; two sisters, Elnora Hertel of Benjamin and Rosa Brown of Paris, Ark.; and several nieces and nephews.

Hal Dean Windham
Hal Dean Windham, 59, of Oplin, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Tecumseh Cemetery with Paige Baize officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Windham was born in Oplin and married Brenda Ray in 1960 in Baird. He farmed and ranched in Callahan County and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, of Oplin; one son, Jeff Windham of Valley Mills; one daughter, Tammy Jo Windham of Valley Mills; three brothers, Robert Windham of Eula, Billy Ray Windham of Oplin and Tommy Windham of Athens, Texas; and one grandchild.

Laura May Hylton
Laura May Hylton, 72, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Revs. Bill Wilson and Leroy Neel officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
Mrs. Hylton was born in Selma, N.C., and lived in Abilene most of her life. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church and was the widow of Clifford C. Hylton.
Survivors include one son, John Hylton of Clyde; one daughter, Linda Robinson of Azle; one brother, Johnny Harris of Tyler; three sisters, Leta Moller of Levelland, Gay Mullins of Jackson, Miss., and Nancy Mutcher of Atlanta; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Mark Curtis Smith
RISING STAR -- Mark Curtis Smith, 81, lifelong local resident, died Friday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Rising Star First Baptist Church with James McLeod officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Rising Star and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked as a barber. He was a deacon at First Baptist Church and was the widower of Gertrude Smith, whom he married in 1933 in Brownwood.
Survivors include one son, Jack C. Smith of Tucker, Ga.; and two sisters, Waldeine Foster of Cross Plains and Maxine Chancey of Abilene.

Jo Ann Kennedy
HAMLIN -- Jo Ann Kennedy, 60, died Friday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Hamlin Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. David Barker and Stan Tittle officiating, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home. A second service will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Pathway Church of God in Paris, Texas. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Cunningham, directed by Bright-Holland Funeral Home of Paris.
Mrs. Kennedy was born in Cunningham and graduated from high school in Deport. She lived in Paris, Texas for many years. She moved in 1993 to Hamlin, where she worked as the head custodian at the high school. She was a member of Hamlin Foursquare Church and was a minister with the Christ Eternity Fellowship in Dallas.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim Roach of Paris, Texas, and Robin Tittle of Rotan; one son, Christopher Kennedy of Hamlin; her mother, Lena Powell of Deport; two sisters, Janie Martin of Clarksville and Sue Hart of Blossom; and seven grandchildren.

Jane Eubank
Laura Jane White Eubank, 72, died Wednesday in a Dallas hospital.
The body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James J. Pitts officiating. Arrangements were made by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Eubank was born in Eveleth, Minn., and graduated from high school in Oberlin, Ohio, and Ohio State University in 1946. She married Joe Combs Eubank in 1946 and lived in Columbus, Ohio, San Antonio, Big Spring, Altus, Okla., and Abilene. She was a social worker in Columbus, Ohio. She was employed by the Texas Department of Human Services as a supervisor for 19 years until retiring in 1987. She was a volunteer with Medical Care Mission in Abilene for seven years and was a longtime elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Brent Eubank of Kerrville and Eric Bryan Eubank of Austin; one brother, B. Wade White of Sarasota, Fla.; and three grandchildren.

Sara Lee Markham
Sara Lee Markham, 89, trust fund clerk at Abilene State School for 40 years, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Donny Harbers officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Markham was born in Mexia in Limestone County and graduated from Potosi High School. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and was the widow of A.E. Markham, whom she married in 1934 in Abilene.
Survivors include one sister, Nora Downing of Abilene; and one nephew and four nieces.

Cordie Jenkins Wagner
Cordie Jenkins Wagner, 99, of Weatherford and formerly of Abilene, died Friday in a Weatherford hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Jonathan Merchant officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Wagner was born in Milburn, where she attended school, and moved to Abilene in 1923 from Hamlin. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at the Abilene State School for many years and moved to Weatherford in 1985. She was a former member of Southern Hills Church of Christ in Abilene. She was a member of South Main Church of Christ in Weatherford and was the widow of M.A. Wagner, whom she married in 1912 in Milburn.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby Elquist of Bay Point, Calif.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Donald Wayne Ellison
Donald Wayne Ellison, 55, of Hawley, died Friday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Revs. Don Meyers and Wayne Oglesby officiating. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery.
Mr. Ellison was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran and married Ann Lacy in 1966 in Abilene. He moved to Hawley in 1970 from Abilene and worked as a truck driver for the Abilene State School for 15 years. He was a member of Hawley First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Hawley; two daughters, Debbie Olney and Elizabeth Ellison, both of Hawley; one half-brother, Homer Lee Ellison Jr. of Abilene; two half-sisters, Pauline Rushing of Abilene and Rosalie Wimberley of Kansas City, Mo.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Hendrick Hospice Care, P.O. Box 1922, Abilene 79604; or First Baptist Church Building Fund, Hawley 79525.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Retired Air Force Col. John Gill
Retired U.S. Air Force Col. John Gill, 84, died Friday in a local hospital.
The body was cremated and no services are planned. Arrangements were made by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Gill grew up in San Antonio, where he graduated from Peacock Military Academy in 1931. He married Ruth V. Scammahorn in 1933 in San Antonio and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was in the Air Force from 1947 until retiring in 1964. He worked at American University in Beirut, Lebanon, for 15 years and moved to Abilene in 1986 from San Antonio. He was active in the Taylor County Republican Party and was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Lawrence "Larry" Gill of Abilene; one daughter, Sydney Henry of Mobile, Ala.; one sister, Dorothy Lee Wagner of San Antonio; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.
