ROTAN - Socorro G. Ortiz, 69, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Johnrose Hayden officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery.
Mrs. Ortiz was born in Taft and was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She was the widow of Manuel Ortiz.
Survivors include seven children: Jesse Lava of Snyder, Juanita Munoz, Juan Manuel Ortiz, Lupe Ortiz and Maria Mize, all of Rotan, Martin Ortiz of Abilene and Trinidad Mcgough of Snyder; and 25 grandchildren.

Oleta Medford
HASKELL - Oleta Medford, 80, died Sunday at a Stamford nursing home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. J.C. Amburn officiating. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Medford was born in Proctor and was a homemaker and a member of First Assembly of God Church. She married James Thurman Medford in 1933 in Haskell; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Thurman Leroy Medford of Conroe, James Wendell Medford of Odessa and Danny Mack Medford of Haskell; three daughters, Barbara Sue Brown of Haskell, Mary Margaret Kemletz of Pearland and Deborah Gayle Merchant of Haskell; one sister, Ruth Loyd of Haskell; two brothers, Ulma Mitchell of Fort Worth and Charles Mitchell,of Orlando, Fla.; 19 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Martin Blythe
BROWNWOOD - Martin Blythe, 77, formerly of Goldthwaite, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Riley officiating. Burial will be in Gooch Cemetery in Mason.
Mr. Blythe was born in Hamlin and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a custodian and was a member and deacon of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Lodge 219 and the American Legion. He married Frances Elizabeth Jones in 1962 in San Angelo; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include several cousins.

Juan 'Jumbo' Rivera Jr.
COLORADO CITY - Juan "Jumbo" Rivera Jr., 42, died Saturday in Austin.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Ann's Catholic Church with the Rev. Ray Wilhelm officiating. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery.
Mr. Rivera was born in Colorado City, where he lived most of his life. He was a construction worker and a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church.
Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Juan Rivera Sr. of Colorado City; two daughters, Michelle Rivera and Monica Rivera, both of Snyder; one son, Alejandro Martinez of Denton; two sisters, Beatrice Madrid of Loraine and Irene Diaz of Austin; five brothers, Danny Rivera of San Angelo, Eddie Rivera of Weatherford, Armando Rivera of Austin, Albert Rivera of San Antonio and Ray Rivera of Lewisville; and three grandchildren.

Gary Don Davis
SWEETWATER - Gary Don Davis, 47, died Monday in Maryneal.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lamar Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Keith Clifton officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home.
Mr. Davis was born in Sweetwater and was a machinist for Lone Star Industries. He was a Navy veteran and a member of Lamar Street Baptist Church. He married Sherline Gillespie in 1976 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; one daughter, Terri Kay Davis of Sweetwater; two sons, Adam Davis and Alex Davis, both of Sweetwater; his mother, Frances Davis of Sweetwater; two brothers, Delbert Davis and Russell Davis, both of Sweetwater; two sisters, June Jones and Debbie Burnett, both of Sweetwater; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

Judy Fulfer
GORDON - Judy Fulfer, 50, owner of Pierce Video in Ranger, died Sunday at an Eastland hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Wright officiating, assisted by the Rev. Randy Smith. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery in Erath County, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Strawn.
Judy was born and grew up in Menard. She lived several places in Texas before moving to the Unity community in Erath County in 1970. She worked for Pierce Video for eight years before purchasing it in 1995. She also worked for service stations in the Gordon area. She married Clifford Fulfer in 1962 in Menard.
Survivors include her husband, of Unity; one son, Wayne Fulfer of Unity; one daughter, Shawn Fry of Cisco; her parents, Elmer and Myrtle Low of Jacksboro; two brothers, Walter Low of Kennedale and Samuel Low of Jacksboro; and five grandchildren.

Carolyn Meeks
Carolyn F. Meeks, 75, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with Dr. Clifford Stewart officiating.
Mrs. Meeks was born in Hornell, N.Y., and worked in a bookkeeping office for 15 years. She moved to Abilene in 1990 from Wellsville, N.Y., and was the widow of Forbes Butler, whom she married in 1944 in Hornell, N.Y.
Survivors include four sons, Don Butler; Capt. Randall Butler of San Antonio, Robert Butler of New York and Clinton Butler of Utah; two daughters, Diane Densmore of Abilene and Brenda Fitzwater of Florida; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Genevieve Dunlap
NOLAN -- Genevieve Dunlap, 81, of Abilene and formerly of Nolan, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Sweetwater with Larry Fluitt officiating. Burial will be in Slaters Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Dunlap was born in Hylton and lived in Nolan County for many years. She graduated from Divide High School and attended Texas Tech University. She moved to Abilene in 1991. She was a member of Lamar Street Church of Christ in Sweetwater and was the widow of Alvin Dunlap, whom she married in 1924 in Menard.
Survivors include one son, Dennis Dunlap of Abilene; one sister, Billie Lee of Sweetwater; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Carl Lee Frymire
JAL, N.M. -- Carl Lee Frymire, 62, formerly of the Big Country, died Sunday in a Kermit hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Jal First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Green officiating. Burial will be in Jal Cemetery, directed by Calvary Funeral Home of Eunice, N.M.
Mr. Frymire was born in Taylor and married Yvonne Atkins in 1955 in Lawn. He moved to Jal in 1958 from Tuscola and worked for El Paso Natural Gas for 36 years until retiring. He was a past president of American Little League and was active with both Little League and girls softball. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Jal; one son, Sidney Frymire of Crane; one daughter, Carla Wilson of Jal; three brothers, Arthur Frymire of Sweetwater, G.W. Frymire of Brady and Harold Frymire of Abilene; one sister, Rose Meise of Odessa; seven grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Lola Belle Ellison
SWEETWATER -- Lola Belle Ellison, 93, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Orvel Brantley officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Ellison was born in Scurry County and married William Hugh Ellison in 1922 in Sweetwater. She was a homemaker and moved to Sweetwater in 1930.
Survivors include one daughter, Lillian Peek of Abilene; two brothers, Willie Harris and Paul Harris, both of Sweetwater; three grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
