William Harold Swinney
William Harold Swinney, 70, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Funeral Home Chapel, 5750 U.S. Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Swinney was born in Mulberry Canyon, southwest of Merkel, and was a construction machine operator with the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a Victory medal in the war. He moved to Abilene in 1967 and worked for the city of Abilene until retiring in 1992. He was a member of Pioneer Methodist Church in Mulberry Canyon.
Survivors include one son, Kyle Swinney of Abilene; three brothers, Herbert Swinney of Roaring Springs, Tommy Swinney of Trent and Joseph Swinney of Merkel; two sisters, Nancy Hardy of Abilene and Lisa Wells of Trent; and two grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Katie Beatrice Self
THROCKMORTON -- Katie Beatrice Self, 86, died Thursday in an Olney hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Throckmorton First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff Lester officiating. Burial will be in Throckmorton Cemetery, directed by Merriman-Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Self was born in Stamford and married Charles Eddie Self in 1931 in Throckmorton. She moved to California in 1941 from Throckmorton and was employed by Northrop in electronics for 15 years. She returned to Throckmorton in 1969. She worked for several years as a nurse's aide and, for eight years, as a salesperson in a dress shop. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, of Throckmorton; and several nieces and nephews.

Bobbie Jean Kizer
MIDLAND -- Bobbie Jean Kizer, 68, formerly of Snyder, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Douglas Lamb officiating.
Mrs. Kizer was born in Snyder and graduated from Grandfalls High School in 1945. She married Fred R. Kizer in 1945 in Grandfalls and lived in Snyder from 1950-70. She was president of the Junior League Baseball Association for several years and was a member of Fannin Terrace Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Midland; two sons, Roy Kizer of League City and Ray Kizer of Corpus Christi; one sister, Monzelle Bailey of Garland; one brother, Richard L. Greer of Spring; three grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

R.O. 'Pete' McClellan
DE LEON -- R.O. "Pete" McClellan, 86, of Granbury and formerly of De Leon, died Wednesday in a Granbury hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in De Leon First Baptist Church. Burial will be in De Leon Cemetery, directed by Nowlin Funeral Home.
Mr. McClellan was born in De Leon and married La Rue McClintock in 1936 in Rankin. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and retired after working as a funeral director at Seminole Funeral Memorial Home in Seminole. He was a Mason and was a member of De Leon First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Granbury; two daughters, Patricia Goodwin of Houston and Judy Gober of Littleton, Colo.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Rosalie Thomas
BROWNWOOD -- Rosalie G. Thomas, 83, died Tuesday in Austin.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with Dr. Adrian Coleman officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Burleson County, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Thomas was born in Providence in Burleson County and attended school in Providence and Caldwell. She moved to Brownwood in 1941 and worked at Sidran's clothing manufacturer during and after World War II. She also was employed by a television business and, from 1964-80, owned and operated, with her husband, Thomas TV and Hobby Town. She taught knitting classes at Howard Payne University and assisted with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of American Business Women's Association and Calvary Baptist Church, and was the widow of Milton Henry "Mit" Thomas, whom she married in 1935 in Caldwell.
Survivors include one son, Larry Thomas of Austin; one daughter, Linda Machann of Kerrville; two sisters, Aileen Green Blazek of Caldwell and Ella Green Upham of Houston; two brothers, Alvin Green of McKinney and Walter Green of Brenham; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship and Recreation Fund.

Danie May Aldridge
Danie May Aldridge, 81, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Aldridge was born in Hamlin and graduated from Content High School in Runnels County. She worked at Hendrick Medical Center for 16 years until retiring. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons, Retired Senior Volunteer Program and Aldersgate United Methodist Church, and was the widow of J.W. "Willie" Aldridge, whom she married in 1932 in Goldsboro.
Survivors include three sons, J.W. "Spud" Aldridge Jr. of Abilene, Jack Smith Aldridge of Kingwood and Phillip Roberts Aldridge of Tuscola; two daughters, Barbara Faye Grant of Abilene and Bennie May Hendrix of Tuscola; one sister, Nita Dunlap of Garland; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Ruth Cook Raper
LAWN -- Ruth Cook Raper, 89, died Thursday in an Abilene nursing home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Lawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Price Mathieson officiating. Burial will be in Dewey Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mrs. Raper was born in Lawn and graduated from Abilene High School and Simmons College, now Hardin-Simmons University. She taught elementary school in Content in Runnels County from 1929-30 and Lawn from 1930-34 and 1956-59. She was a former member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 30 in Abilene. She was a member of Lawn Baptist Church and was the widow of J.C. Raper, whom she married in 1933 in Moran.
Survivors include one sister, Helene Tyree of Raleigh, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

Marqueriet Blanche Cawley
OKRA -- Marqueriet Blanche Cawley, 74, lifelong local resident, died Friday in an Eastland hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Rising Star First Baptist Church with the Rev. James Brad Earp and Wesley Earp officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Rising Star.
Mrs. Cawley was born in Okra in Eastland County and married Paul Cawley in 1941 in Cisco. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Rising Star First Baptist Church and played the piano and taught a Bible class at the church in Okra.
Survivors include her husband, of Okra; one daughter, Pauline Carolyn Agnew of Abilene; one brother, James Wayne Tye of Columbia, S.C.; two grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Linnie Mae Cobb
DECATUR -- Linnie Mae Cobb, 62, of Abilene and formerly of Decatur, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Decatur First Baptist Church with Ed Milligan, Jerry Miller and Doyle Slimp officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, directed by Coker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cobb was born in Alvord and married Ray Morris Cobb in 1951 in Decatur. She was a homemaker and was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Abilene.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Kenneth Cobb and Dennis Cobb, both of Decatur; three brothers, Curtis Clower of Champaign, Ill., George Clower of Gulfport, Miss., and Kenneth Clower of Houston; one sister, Loyd Fergeson of Andrews; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
