J.W. 'Bill' Barnes
RANGER - J.W. "Bill" Barnes, 89, died Monday in Abilene.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Barnes grew up in Ranger and Weatherford and worked on family farms in both towns.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Barnes of Cisco; four children, Shirley McCleod of Fort Worth, Mary Clifton of Eastland and Bill Barnes and Ben Barnes, both of Ranger; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

William 'Bill' Dixon
SAN ANGELO - William F. "Bill" Dixon, 72, died Monday at his home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Hopewell Cemetery near Bowie.
Mr. Dixon was born in Demopolis, Ala., and had lived in San Angelo since 1984. He graduated from Auburn University with an engineering degree and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was employed as supervising resident engineer for the Texas Department of Transportation for 38 years, working 19 years in Crockett County, where he supervised the construction of Intersate 10. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Elaine Condley in 1952 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of San Angelo; one daughter, Polly McCandless of Stamford; one son, W.F. "Billy" Dixon Jr. of Austin; one sister, Mauriece Hinson of Tuscaloosa, Ala.; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and four nephews.
Memorials may be made to Family Hospice or to First United Methodist Church Building Fund.

John 'Chub' Carlton
STAMFORD - John "Chub" Charlton, 76, of Lake Stamford died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. today at Tankersley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Brigham officiating, assisted by John Wendeborn. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Carlton was born in Tuxedo and lived in the Stamford area all his life. He was a Lutheran and a member of the sons of Herman Hall and the Anson Veterans of Foreign Wars post. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a retired farmer. He married Geneva "Wendy" Wendeborn in 1942 in Stamford.
Survivors include his wife, of Lake Stamford; one brother, Norman Carlton of Hamlin; two sisters, Ruby McCafferty of Haskell and Marjorie "Dickey" Rush of Casa Grande, Ariz.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ricky Lynn Austin
GARLAND - Ricky Lynn Austin, 33, died Saturday.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson with the Rev. Jerry Pittman officiating, directed by Williams Funeral Directors.
Mr. Austin was born in Dallas and was a member of Purtis Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include his father, Don Boring, and "Mom," Barbara Boring of Eustace; his mother, Brenda Hughes of Anson; one sister, Kami Robye of Midland; two sisters, Stephanie Cayson of Eustace and Christine Bockemehl of Dallas; grandparents Zella Boring of Azle and Marie Keys of Anson; and numerous other relatives.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the Crime Victims Compensation Fund.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.

Christine Kirksey
BROWNWOOD - Christine Kirksey, 83, of Bangs died Sunday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Gary Kirksey officiating. Burial will be in Jenkins Springs Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Kirksey was born in Brown County and lived in Arlington, returning to Brown County in 1977. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married William "Bill" Kirksey in 1941 in Comanche; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three nephews, including Alton Wyatt of Early; a cousin, Carmelita Naron of Brownwood; two great-nephews and four great-great-nephews and -nieces.

Lazelle Johnson
GRAPEVINE - Lazelle Johnson, 83, formerly of Ranger, died Sunday in Grapevine.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church in Ranger with the Rev. Jim Poe officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Teague. A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Grapevine with the Rev. Rick Linburger officiating.
Mrs. Johnson was born in Teague, where she attended school. She lived in Wortham and Mexia before moving to Ranger in 1936. She was past president of Ranger Band Boosters and Parent Teachers Association and a lifetime member. She was in bowling leagues in Ranger and Eastland and worked as a florist and in retail sales. She co-owned John Refrigeration Company in Ranger. She taught Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Ranger. She moved to Grapevine in 1986 and was a member of First Baptist Church in Grapevine. She married J.D. Johnson in 1931 in Bossier City, La.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two children, Frank Johnson of Midlothian and Sarah Swinney of Grapevine; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Robert Yule Walker Jr.
ROCKWALL -- Robert Yule Walker Jr., 80, formerly of Abilene, died Sunday in Rowlett.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Rockwall Memorial Cemetery, directed by Lyons Funeral Home.
Mr. Walker was born in Fort Worth and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked as an independent geologist for 50 years and was a longtime Abilene resident.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly Walker; two sons, Bob Walker of Rockwall and Chris Walker of Houston; one daughter, Tina Hoffman of Grand Prairie; one sister, Mary Elizabeth McCleery of San Francisco; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, a Parkinson's Disease charity or favorite charity.

John Lambert
STAMFORD -- John B. Lambert, 52, of Abilene and formerly of Stamford, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rudy Fambrough officiating. Burial will be in Rockdale Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.
Mr. Lambert was born in Stamford and graduated from Lueders High School and Cisco Junior College. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran and married Karen Long in 1974 in Stamford. He worked for the Lueders Telephone Co. and Southwestern Bell Telephone in Abilene. He was employed by Innovative Computing Corp. in Abilene at the time of his death and was a member of the Anson Masonic Lodge. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, John "J" B. Lambert Jr. of San Angelo; three brothers, Norman Lambert of Hurst, Billy Ivy of San Antonio and Julian Lambert Jr. of Arlington; three sisters, Betty Walker of Odessa, and Inez Wylie and Catherine Black, both of Baird; and several nieces and nephews.
A fund to help defray medical expenses has been established at First National Bank, 4400 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene 79601; attn. Linda Sheppard.

G.W. Joplin
ROTAN -- G.W. Joplin, 87, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today in Rotan First Baptist Church with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Rotan Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Joplin was born in Clay County and graduated from Hope High School in Hope, N.M. He moved to Fisher County in 1933 from Hope, N.M., and married Annis Cleveland in 1940 in Pleasant Valley in Fisher County. He was a farmer and worked as a mechanic. He directed the singers at Royston and McCaulley Baptist churches for 45 years and was a member of Fisher County Singers and Rotan First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Rotan; two sons, Robert Joplin of Colorado City and Harold Joplin of Abilene; two daughters, Sue Novak of Lubbock and Ransom Canyon, and Lisa Brown of Rankin; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
