Ruth Cole
BROWNWOOD -- Ruth Cole, 92, lifelong local resident, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Ms. Cole was born in Brownwood and taught Spanish in the Brownwood school system and at Howard Payne University. She also was a teacher in Mexico, Europe and South America. She taught Sunday school at First Christian Church.
Survivors include two nephews, Bob Cole of Bryan and Pat Cole of Odessa.

Edith Marie Benson
BROWNWOOD -- Edith Marie Benson, 70, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with the Rev. Roy McNeely officiating. Burial will be in Salt Creek Cemetery.
Mrs. Benson was born in Owens, where she attended school, and married George Benson in 1943 in Brownwood. She was retired from Texas Feathers & Woolen Mills and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and Salt Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; two sons, Dennis Benson and Gary Benson, both of Brownwood; one daughter, Teresa Gowin of Brownwood; her mother, Myrtle Lentz; one brother, Jodell Fairrow of Brownwood; one sister, Violet McDonald of Fort Worth; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

W.R. 'Bill' Humphries
BROWNWOOD -- W.R. "Bill" Humphries, 70, inspector for the Texas Department of Transportation for 32 years until retiring, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Russell Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Humphries was born in Brownwood, where he was a lifelong resident, and served with the U.S. Navy aboard a submarine during World War II. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3278 and St. John's Episcopal Church.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Susan Chrane Gilbert of Killeen; one sister, Willa Mae Martin of Hackensack, Minn.; two brothers, Ross Sterling Humphries of Kissimmee, Fla., and H.L. Humphries Sr. of Argyle; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; his former wife, Peggy Humphries Whatley of Brownwood; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Lois Ruth Browning
BROWNWOOD -- Lois Ruth Browning, 92, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Pat McClatchy officiating. Burial will be in Greenleaf Cemetery.
Mrs. Browning was born in Dressy and moved to Brownwood in 1925. She owned and operated Southside Laundry & Dry Cleaner and also was a homemaker. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was the widow of Ressie C. Browning, whom she married in 1923 in Callahan County.
Survivors include one daughter, Regina Parker of Brownwood; one son, R. Cliff Browning of De Soto; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Charlie Boatright
Charlie Boatright, 53, lifelong Abilene resident, died Sunday in a local hospital.
The body was donated to science and no services are planned.
Ms. Boatright was born in Abilene and attended Abilene High School.
Survivors include one son, Edward Boatright of Abilene; one daughter, Dallas Jones of South Carolina; two sisters, Bertha Mae Kendrick of South Carolina and Edna Marie Johnson of Louisiana; and five grandchildren.

Dunkin Davidson
GRANBURY -- Dunkin R. Davidson, 76, formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday in Granbury.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Laurel Land Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Fort Worth. Burial will be in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
Mr. Davidson was born in Wilson, Okla., and graduated from Polytechnic High School in 1937. He served with the U.S. Navy as an amphibious boat officer during World War II and graduated from Texas Christian University in 1947. He was a retired district manager of Southwestern Bell Telephone and was a Mason. He was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America, Pecan Plantation Home Owners Association and Acton United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bea Clary Davidson of Granbury; one son, Donald Davidson of Kerrville; one daughter, Diane Blount of Joshua; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Darrell Bulis
EARLY -- Darrell Bulis, 78, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Lynn Turnbow officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Bulis was born in Colorado Springs, Colo., and married Florence St. George in 1942 in Las Vegas, Nev. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean conflict and was a retired engineer of the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Early in 1985 and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Grace Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Early; one daughter, Linda Williams of Cuero; three sons, Michael Bulis of Bloomfield, Conn., Bob Bulis of Plantation, Fla., and Richard Bulis of Verdi, Nev.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Herman Price
BALLINGER -- Herman B. Price, 84, of San Angelo and formerly of Ballinger, died Wednesday in a San Angelo hospital.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church in San Angelo with the Revs. Ben Hubert and Winford Gore officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Price was born in Rochelle to pioneer Concho County ranchers and graduated from high school in Millersview. He attended San Angelo College and John Tarleton College in Stephenville and married Margaret Kitchens in 1936. He helped raise Rambouillet sheep and Black Angus cattle near Millersview and Paint Rock before moving to Ballinger in 1948. He also ranched near Eden.
He was a member of Paint Rock Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a past Rotarian club president and served on the Runnels County school board for many years. He also was a director of the Ballinger Memorial Hospital for several years and was an honorary member of the hospital's auxiliary. He was a life member of the Texas Sheep and Goat Raisers Association and was a past board chairman of Paint Rock First State Bank. He was a longtime leader of the Ballinger Downtown Bible Class. He was an elder and board member of First Christian Church in Ballinger and taught Sunday school for many years. He also was a member of First Christian Church in San Angelo.
Survivors include his wife, of San Angelo; one son, H. Paul Price of Houston; one daughter, Pamela Price Murfee of Lubbock; and four grandchildren.

Jimmie Cox
OLD GLORY -- Jimmie Cox, 59, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Sweethome Baptist Church in Rule with the Revs. John Cox and Matt Harrington officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mr. Cox was born in Stonewall County and married Barbara Dickey in 1956 in Rule. He was a farmer and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Old Glory; two sons, Mark Cox of Sterling City and Kevin Cox of Waxahachie; one daughter, Aleisa Morrow of Knox City; his parents, A.B. and Leora "Potsy" Cox of Falls City, Neb.; one brother, John Cox of Falls City, Neb.; and five grandchildren.
