Viola 'Ola' Cunningham
RANGER -- Viola "Ola" Cunningham, 92, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cunningham was born in Erath County and moved, as a child, to Oakley north of Ranger. She and her husband operated a dairy in the Ranger area. She was the widow of Oscar Dell Cunningham, whom she married in 1923 in Ranger.
Survivors include one son, Weldon Cunningham of Ranger; and two grandchildren.

Ima Leona Cedillo
Ima Leona Cedillo, 72, died Wednesday.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with Drs. Jack Ridlehoover and Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South.
Mrs. Cedillo was born in Floydada and moved to Abilene in 1951. She married Joseph S. Cedillo in 1960 in Abilene and worked as a beautician for 45 years until retiring. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one son, D.W. Havins of Abilene; one daughter, Martha N. Watson of Clyde; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three step great-grandchildren; and one nephew.

Raymond Whitley
Raymond Q. Whitley, 55, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with John Risse officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Whitley was born in Belton and attended school in Abilene. He was a U.S. Army veteran and returned to Abilene in 1967. He worked for the city of Abilene for several years and moved, in 1973, to Cisco, where he owned Cisco Paint & Body Work. He married Olyse Oren in 1976. He moved to Alpine in 1989 and owned Alpine Paint & Body Shop before operating Affordable Wrecker Service, also in Alpine. He was a member of American Legion and I-20 Church of Christ in Cisco.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Rocky Whitley of Abilene, Anthony Makuch of Dallas and Eric Whitley of Kerrville; one daughter, Cynthia Robley of Abilene; his mother and stepfather, Ida Mae and R.C. "Doc" Cranfill of Abilene; two brothers, Arlie Whitley and R.A. Cranfill, both of Abilene; one sister, Kay Fletcher of Plainville, Ill.; and six grandchildren.
The family will be at 842 Chestnut.

Mary Alice McCook
Mary Alice McCook, 81, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in University Church of Christ with Eddie Sharp and Wally Bullington officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. McCook was born in Novice and graduated from Ballinger High School and Abilene Christian University. She married W.E. "Mose" McCook in 1938 in Anson and taught school in Texas, including in Abilene, for 20 years until retiring in 1974. She was a life member of Women for ACU and also was a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association and University Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; two sons, Charles Lee McCook of Post and William Frank McCook of Sandersville, Ga.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation will begin after the funeral at 1 p.m. at University Church of Christ Activity Center.

Donald Mapes
HASKELL -- Donald K. Mapes, 65, of Abilene and formerly of Haskell County, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in East Side Baptist Church with the Rev. David Page officiating. Burial will be in Roberts Cemetery in Haskell County, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Mapes was born in Haskell County and attended school in Mattson. He married Jean Faglie in 1950 in Haskell and worked as a drilling superintendent for six years in Saudi Arabia for Arabian American Oil Co., 8-1/2 years in Iran for Iranian Oil Services and nine years in Venezuela for Gulf Oil Co. He was a former member of the Lions Club and Rotary Club International and was a member of Mattson Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three daughters, Judy Washburn of Haskell, and Vickie Cunningham and Cynthia Griffith, both of Abilene; two brothers, Charles Mapes of Euless and Tom Mapes of Ventura, Calif.; one sister, Mildred Collins of Crestline, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Bessie Blackmon
MAY -- Bessie Blackmon, 85, died Thursday in Abilene.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blanket Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood.
Mrs. Blackmon was born in Blanket and lived most of her life in Brown County. She was retired from JC Penney and also was a homemaker. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Lewis Blackmon, whom she married in 1986 in Winters.
Survivors include one son, Tommy Blackmon of Abilene; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Dicie Rodgers
HAMLIN -- Dicie Rodgers, 93, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hamlin First Baptist Church with the Revs. Howard Jones and Tracy Watson officiating. Burial will be in Neinda Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rodgers was born in Center Ridge, Ark., and moved to the Jones County area at a young age. She was a homemaker and formerly worked for the Hamlin school district. She was a member of Hamlin Senior Citizens. She also was a member of First Baptist Church, where she formerly sang in the Glory Singers choir, and was the widow of Edward E. Rodgers, whom she married in 1926 in Aspermont.
Survivors include one son, James Rodgers of Hamlin; two daughters, Gloria Williams of Abilene and Doris Posey of Georgetown; one brother, Troy Brown of Whitesboro; three sisters, Norma Christianson of Dallas, Erma Patterson of De Soto and Katie Bingham of Anson; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

James 'Corky' Moon
DESDEMONA -- James E. "Corky" Moon, 67, of Odessa and formerly of Desdemona, died Thursday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Desdemona Cemetery with Tommy Hiser officiating, directed by Nowlin Funeral Home of De Leon.
Mr. Moon was born in Desdemona and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and in Korea. He married Laura Ann Frasier in 1952 in Odessa. He moved to Odessa in 1966 and was retired from Phillips Petroleum Co. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Odessa.
Survivors include his wife, of Odessa; one son, Terry Moon of Odessa; one daughter, Da Sha Hagerty of Odessa; one sister, Helen Gregory of Granbury; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Madie Higgs Hargrove
ANSON -- Madie Higgs Hargrove, 89, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Anson Church of Christ with Don Hargrove and Earl McCaleb officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Stamford, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hargrove was born in Nugent and lived in Lueders most of her life. She was a homemaker and moved to Anson in 1983. She was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widow of Clovis "Toad" Hargrove, whom she married in 1922 in Nugent.
Survivors include one son, J.D. Hargrove of Anson; one daughter, Laveta Youngquist of Lueders; one sister, Essie Hargrove of Monahans; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in the funeral home.
