Austin Black
CROSS PLAINS -- Austin B. Black, 87, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with Knox Waggoner officiating. Burial will be in Atwell Cemetery.
Mr. Black was born in Atwell and was a U.S. Army veteran. He married Emma Stephenson in 1945 in Quanah and worked as a brick layer.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; one son, Billy Black of Springtown; one sister, Romalee McKenzie of May; and one grandchild.

Odessa Harris Shaw
Odessa Harris Shaw, 84, formerly of Abilene, died Saturday at her home in Houston.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Marion Fonville officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Shaw was born in Stephens County and moved to Abilene in 1954. She was a member of First Christian Church of Abilene and Texas State Teachers Association. She graduated from McMurry University, taught at Bonham Elementary School and worked in the Abilene Independent School District for 25 years. She married Tommie J. Shaw in 1947 in Breckenridge; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Jan Shaw McCoy of Rock Hill, S.C., and Sue Shaw Monroe of Magnolia; two brothers, Claude Henry Harris of Eastland and Roy Lee Harris of Breckenridge; two sisters, Ovella Harris Turner of Ranger and Lottie Harris Newnham of Breckenridge; and three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

Willie Faye Walker Bryan
Willie Faye Walker Bryan, 83, died Friday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with Tony Ash officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Bryan was born in Carbon and moved to Abilene from Eastland in 1944. She attended schools in Eastland County and was a member of Minter Lane Church of Christ. She was retired from Coca-Cola Bottling Co., where she had worked for 26 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Pat (Mrs. Morgan) Phillips of Abilene and Billie (Mrs. Maurice) Hood of Midland; one son, Gaylan Glen Miller of Indiatlantic, Fla.; one brother, Vernon Walker of Rising Star; two sisters, Johnnie Mae Hearn of Eastland and Inez Goodlett of Fort Worth; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jesse Cone Garrett
Jesse Cone Garrett, 84, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with Dr. Darris Egger and the Rev. Clark Williams officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Garrett was born in Stephenville and graduated from high school in Colorado City. He was a World War II veteran and served in the U.S. Air Force. He moved to Abilene from Colorado City in 1969 and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and Homebuilders Sunday school class. He was formerly employed by Fred Hughes Motors. He married Betty Grubbs in 1945 in Colorado City.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Peter Lauren Garrett of Minot, N.D., and Michael Lee Garrett of Abilene; one sister, Nelda Atkins Garrett of Abilene; four grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Endowment Fund at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 1742 Sayles Blvd., Abilene 79605.
The body will be at the church from 9 a.m. until service time.

Lillian Wohnus
HASKELL -- Lillian Wohnus, 86, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Willow Cemetery with Dale Huff officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mrs. Wohnus was born in Toronto, Canada and came to Haskell in 1969 from San Diego, Calif. She was a homemaker and a Methodist. She married Richard Charles Wohnus in 1932 in Media, Pa.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Jayne Portwood of Dan Diego; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Sidney 'Sid' Taylor
BROWNWOOD -- Sidney "Sid" Taylor, 79, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bangs Cemetery, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Taylor was born in Bangs and lived in Brown County all his life. He was former owner of Sid's Service Station and was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one brother, Robert Taylor of Fort Worth; one sister, Marie Atkins of Brownwood; and a number of nieces and nephews.

William Franklin 'Frank' Weaver Sr.
SNYDER -- William Franklin "Frank" Weaver Sr., 82, a longtime Snyder resident, died Sunday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church with Dr. Craig Curry officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Gardens, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Weaver was born in Rusk and lived in Snyder since 1940, except when he lived in Coleman from 1946-1951. He graduated from McMurry University with bachelor's and master's degrees and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He coached football in Snyder in the 1940s and was grade school principal at East Elementary, retiring after 37 years as an educator. He was a member of First United Methodist Church (a member of the Administrative Board for many years), Lions Club in Coleman and was a regional director for Boy Scouts for many years and coached Little League for many years. He married Margaret Tipton in 1940 in Rusk.
Survivors include his wife, of Snyder; one son, William Franklin Weaver Jr. of Del Rio; one brother, Dan Weaver of Jackson, Miss.; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to West Texas Boys Ranch in San Angelo.

Morna Fraser Hornady
Morna Fraser Hornady, 89, of Abilene died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Scott Mayer officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Hornady was born in Boulder, Mont., and graduated from high school in Missoula, Mont. She graduated from West Texas State University with a bachelor's degree and from the University of Montana with a master's degree. She had lived in Breckenridge, San Angelo, Midland, Amarillo and Lake Cisco, moving to Abilene from Lake Cisco in 1975. She taught in the Midland Independent School District for 13 years and in Wichita Falls for several years. She was a member of Church of the Heavenly Rest, Episcopal, Retired Teachers Association, A.A.R.P. and Rose Park Senior Citizens. She married Albert Cecil Hornady in 1925 in San Angelo; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Rachael Hamm of Abilene and Morna Andrews of Haskell; one son, Stephen Donald Hornady of Windthorst; one brother, Earl Fraser of Sacramento, Calif.; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Frank Aycock Sr.
Frank E. Aycock Sr., 83, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. George Gaston and Dr. Mike Stedham officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco.
Mr. Aycock was born in Cisco, where he graduated from high school before attending Randolph College (now Cisco Junior College). He lived in San Angelo for one year and Anson two years, moving to Abilene in 1956. He retired in 1972 after 28 years with Halliburton Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Abilene and Masonic Lodge 556 in Cisco. He married Estelle Bint in 1938 in Cisco.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Frank Edward Aycock Jr. and Fred Bint, both of Abilene; and three grandchildren.
