Charles Ray Smith
MUNDAY -- Charles Ray Smith, 74, lifelong resident of Thorp in Knox County, died Tuesday in a Haskell hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Gillespie Baptist Church with the Revs. Ross Anderson and Bill Trice officiating. Burial will be in O'Brien Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Knox County and married Jennie Sellers in 1944 in Munday. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a retired farmer and was a member of Sons of Hermann Lodge in Haskell and Gillespie Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Munday; two sons, Rick Smith of Lubbock and Johnny Smith of Hutto; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Florine Swaringin
ROTAN -- Florine Swaringin, 80, died Tuesday in a Midland nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Rotan First Baptist Church with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Swaringin was born in Grant, Okla., and attended school in Oklahoma and Kent County. She moved to Kent County in 1930 and Fisher County in 1931. She was a homemaker and worked as an Avon Cosmetics sales representative from 1952-87. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Hollis G. Swaringin, whom she married in 1932.
Survivors include one daughter, Kay Swaringin Steward of Midland; one son, David G. Swaringin of Arlington; two sisters, Marie Hendon of Rotan and Bertha Sawyer of Slaton; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Frankie Jim Stevens
Frankie Jim Stevens died Monday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park with Bill Proctor officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mrs. Stevens was born in Mission and moved to Abilene in 1979 from Alvarado. She worked for Joe Allen's Bar-B-Que and Dixie Pig Restaurant and later was a hostess at the Olive Garden. She was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three daughters, Tina Hathway of Bangs, Anna Luna of Stephenville and Raye Lynn Stevens of San Antonio; her parents, Lloyd L. Davis and Rose Lee Davis, both of Abilene; one brother, Tim Davis of Abilene; five grandchildren; and one niece and one nephew.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jabuiel 'Jay' Monrrial Monreal
Jabuiel "Jay" Espinosa Monrrial Monreal, 66, died Tuesday at his daughter's home in Arlington.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today in Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. 2nd. Mass will be said at 3 p.m. Friday in St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. David Matz officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Monreal was born in Mossville and grew up in Waco. He married Crispina Gamez in 1949 in Waco and was employed as a cook by Abilene Christian University for 20 years until retiring. He then worked in the oil field for eight years. He was a member of St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; eight daughters, Geneve Monreal of Austin, Elvira Gaona, Sylvia Cisneros, Cynthia Paris, Veronica Sullivan, Angela Monreal and Patricia Monreal, all of Arlington, and Cecilia Collier of San Antonio; three sons, Jabuiel "Sonny" Monrrial Jr. and Vincent Monrrial, both of Arlington, and Andrew Monreal of Burleson; one brother, Toribio "Toby" Monrrial of Bellmead; three half-brothers, Hilberto "Gilbert" Ochoa of Waco, Rudel Florentino "Tino" Ochoa of Abilene and Luis Carabajal of Los Angeles; two half-sisters, Narzaria "Chia" Sustaita of Waco and Katherina Flora Lomas of Abilene; 21 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many other relatives.

Robert Lee Pearce
Robert Lee Pearce, 85, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Woodlawn Church of Christ with Howard Norton, Don Vinzant and Philip Flate officiating. Burial will be in Bradshaw Cemetery, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mr. Pearce was born in Bell County and grew up in the Bradshaw area. He was employed by shipyards in Richmond, Calif. during World War II and later worked in Fresno, Calif., and Houston. He helped start P-E Crane Service in Abilene in 1959. He was a member of Union of Operating Engineers 450 and Woodlawn Church of Christ and was the widower of Faye Pearce, whom he married in 1934.
Survivors include one daughter, Jane Norton of Searcy, Ark.; one son, David Pearce of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two sisters, Bessie Buchanan of Tuscola and Doris Bradshaw of Gorman; one brother, Vernon Pearce of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Inez Pettit Cornelius
EASTLAND -- Inez Pettit Cornelius, 95, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Bakker Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Haston Brewer and Henry Grubbs officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery.
Mrs. Cornelius was born in Koscuisko, Miss., and moved to Texas in 1920. She lived in Sipe Springs before moving to Eastland. She was a member of Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years and was a longtime member of the Civic League and Garden Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Victor Cornelius, whom she married in 1923 in Eastland.
Survivors include two daughters, Catherine Germany of Eastland and LaVerne Meeks of Fort Worth; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Effie Richardson
BAIRD -- Effie Richardson, 96, died Wednesday in an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Ross Cemetery with Gary Williams officiating, directed by Parker Funeral Home.
Ms. Richardson was born in Baird and lived, for 52 years, in Dallas, where she worked as a bakery manager. She returned to Baird in 1974. She was a 50-year member of the Baird chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; and also was a member of the Putnam Church of Christ.
Survivors include one nephew, Thomas Dean of Cotton Valley, La.; and one step-nephew, Earl Lasater of Seminole.

Doris Dodgen
COLEMAN -- Doris L. Dodgen, 78, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today in Coleman Cemetery with Ronnie Lane officiating, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mrs. Dodgen was born in Paducah and attended school at Loss Creek. She married Fred Dodgen in 1934 in Brownwood and was a homemaker. She moved to Coleman in 1958 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her husband, of Coleman; one son, Loyd Melvin Dodgen of Austin; one daughter, Doris Nell Lane of Coleman; one sister, Tressie Moneyhun of Coleman; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Charlie Mae Kinard
BIG SPRING -- Charlie Mae Kinard, 93, died Tuesday in a Stanton nursing home after a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Myers & Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Park.
Mrs. Kinard married Daucey J. Kinard in 1923 in Big Spring and farmed in Dawson and Howard County. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include one daughter, Melba White of Lakeland, Fla.; one brother, Curtis Wood of Zephyr; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
