Betty Reeves Meinzer
KNOX CITY - Betty Reeves Meinzer, 70, of St. Louis and formerly of Knox City, died Saturday in a St. Louis hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Knox City First Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Johnson and Leon Ward officiating. Burial will be in Benjamin Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mrs. Meinzer was born in Knox County and graduated from Knox City High School in 1945. She worked as a bookkeeper at a grain elevator in Hale Center for many years and moved to St. Louis in 1996 from Hale Center. She was a member of Hale Center First Baptist Church and was the widow of Walter Buck Meinzer, whom she married in 1957.
Survivors include three daughters, Carra Celeste Rooney of High Ridge, Mo., Pamela Lee Gladson of Arlington and Rhonda Jo Ripka of Abilene; three sons, Joe David Meinzer of Idalou, Walter Buck Meinzer II of Subico, Ark., and Walter Gregory Meinzer of Nauvo, Calif.; three sisters, Ruthie Routon of Farwell, Birdie Helton of Knox City and Faye Corley of Mineola; and 10 grandchildren.

Lee Roy Thompson
BROWNWOOD - Lee Roy Thompson, 91, owner and operator of Thompson's Wicking and Spring Shop for more than 50 years until retiring, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. Robert J. Elkins officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Thompson was born in Goldthwaite and moved to Brownwood at an early age. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and then returned to Brownwood to become self-employed. He also was a mechanic. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Winnie Preece Thompson, whom he married in 1927 in Brownwood.
Survivors include one son, Lee Thompson of Temple; one daughter, Wanda Clark of Georgia; and eight grandchildren; and many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Eura Clifton
ROSCOE - Eura Clifton, 102, of Fredericksburg and formerly of the Roscoe area, died Sunday in Fredericksburg.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Roscoe Cemetery with Wayne Horton officiating, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Clifton was born in Lipan and moved to the Roscoe-Hermleigh area in 1908, Kingsland in 1982 and Fredericksburg in 1993. She was a homemaker and worked as an artist. She was a member of Hermleigh Church of Christ and was the widow of Calvin A. Clifton, whom she married in 1916 in Roscoe.
Survivors include one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Clifton of Fredericksburg; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth Fern Warren Fields
Elizabeth Fern Warren Fields, 83, died Friday at her home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Broadview Baptist Church with the Rev. David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Fields was born in Cisco and attended Cisco Junior College and Mary Hardin-Baylor College. She earned a teaching certificate and taught kindergarten at Dyess Air Force Base for many years. She was a homemaker. She moved to Pecos in 1942 from Cisco, and to Abilene in 1951. She was a member of Broadview Baptist Church and was the widow of Sam Davis Fields, whom she married in 1935 in Cisco.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Bramlet and Sandra "Sissy" Thompson, both of Abilene; four brothers, Retired Lt. Col. Bill Collins, Harry Warren and Jim Warren, all of Fort Worth, and Jay Warren of Plano; one sister, Margie Pee of Jackson, Miss.; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

William Henry 'Bill' Dry
William Henry "Bill" Dry, 83, sign painter for Dr Pepper Bottling Co. for 50 years, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Northview Cemetery in Winters with Capt. Edward Alonzo officiating, directed by Girdner Funeral Home, 111 Elm.
Mr. Dry was born in Winters, where he graduated from high school, and married Dot Bryant in 1943 in Baltimore. He moved to Abilene in 1944.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Wilma K. Whelchel of Abilene and Norma Bryant of Possum Kingdom Lake; one son, William L. "Blue" Dry of Bryan; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Pauline 'Polly' Passmore
BUFFALO GAP -- Pauline L. "Polly" Passmore, 81, died Saturday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Buffalo Gap First Baptist Church with Haven Miller and the Rev. Wayne Heinze officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mrs. Passmore was born in Quanah and moved to Abilene as a child. She and her first husband were lake keepers at Lake Abilene from 1936-66. She worked in food service at West Texas Medical Center and Buffalo Gap Steakhouse until retiring in 1979. She was the widow of O.H. "Doc" Seabolt, whom she married in 1932 in Abilene. She married William E. Passmore in 1982 in Tuscola and was a member of Buffalo Gap Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, of Buffalo Gap; two daughters, Dorothy Mayfield of Tuscola and Doris DePriest of Dickson, Tenn.; one stepson, Billy E. Passmore of Abilene; one stepdaughter, Della Marie DeWeese of Tye; two sisters, Alene Pugh of El Paso and Jeri Keesee of Abilene; six grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Glen Allen Smith
MANSFIELD -- Glen Allen Smith, 60, formerly of Abilene, died Thursday at his home after a brief battle with cancer.
Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Moore Funeral Home Chapel in Arlington. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Lawn Haven Memorial Park in Clovis, N.M.
Mr. Smith was born in Verdon, S.D., and grew up in Texas. He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1955 and retired, after a 30-year career, at Dyess Air Force Base. He received a Distinguished Flying Cross, seven Air medals, Meritorious Service Medal and Air Force Commendation Medal. He married his wife 34 years ago. He was working as a ground school instructor for American Airlines at the time of his death.
Survivors include his wife, Loretta Jean Smith; one son, Mark Allen Smith; one daughter, Kimberly Smith-Buchanan; two brothers, Marlon Smith and Rodney Smith; two grandchildren; and many other relatives.
Memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society.

Al White
BRECKENRIDGE -- Al White, 73, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Breckenridge First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Harper officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. White was born in Haskell and attended Paint Creek High School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Helen Faye Carruth in 1946 in Haskell. He worked as a route salesman for Mrs. Baird's Bakery from 1959-87. He moved to Breckenridge in 1972 from Abilene and was a bus driver for the Breckenridge school district for 6-1/2 years. He was a member of Breckenridge Square Dance Club. He was a junior department Sunday school teacher, president of the Roustabout class and sang in the senior adult choir at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; one son, William L. White of Graham; two brothers, Frank White and Harvey White, both of Haskell; four sisters, Minnie Walker of Stamford, and Kathren Clem, Mary Kierkpka and Flossie Garvin, all of Haskell; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels and left at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home's Heritage room.

Arthur Carrol Latson
EASTLAND -- Arthur Carrol Latson, 86, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Daugherty Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox and Ted Kell officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Latson was born in Goliad and grew up in the Patricia-Lamesa area. He was a self-employed electrician in Big Spring and Hurst. He also was a Church of Christ minister in Big Spring, Mesquite, Vealmoor, Westland, Itasca and Brownwood. He was a member of Elliott Street Church of Christ in Breckenridge and was the widower of Esther Frances Latson, whom he married in 1934 in Lamesa.
Survivors include one daughter, Rhama Maxwell of Abilene; one son, Larry Latson of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Gracie Lee Spence
BLACKWELL -- Gracie Lee Spence, 86, died Saturday in a Bronte nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackwell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Casey officiating. Burial will be in Blackwell Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Spence was born in Fruitvale and was a homemaker. She moved to Blackwell in 1941. She was a member of Blackwell United Methodist Church and was the widow of Roger Q. Spence, whom she married in 1928.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Ware of Sweetwater; one son, Bobby Dean Spence of Abilene; two sisters, Eva Sinclair of Roscoe and Opal Alley of Sweetwater; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
