Hazel Hanks George
BROWNWOOD -- Hazel Hanks George, 80, of Ennis and formerly of Lake Brownwood, died Thursday in an Ennis nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edward Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Zephyr Cemetery.
Mrs. George was born in Brown County and was a homemaker. She moved to Ennis in 1991. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Brownwood and was the widow of Woodrow George, whom she married in Temple.
Survivors include one sister, Lois Jordan of De Soto; and two nieces and five nephews.

Royce Don Eubanks
WINTERS -- Royce Don Eubanks, 65, died Thursday.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in Winters Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Glenn Shoemake officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery.
Mr. Eubanks was born in Mitchell County and graduated from Winters High School. He served with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and received a Bronze Star. He then lived in the Houston area for many years until returning to the Winters area in 1997. He was a farmer and was a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Donald Roy Eubanks of League City; one daughter, Deborah Martin of Lexington; his mother, Lillian Eubanks of Winters; four brothers, Dale Eubanks of Winters, Lloyd Eubanks and Rex Eubanks, both of Las Vegas, Nev., and Lynn Eubanks of Detroit; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Jewell Sowell
BROWNWOOD -- Jewell Sowell, 86, died Thursday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Allen and Chaplain Bruce Coltharp officiating. Burial will be in Rocky Creek Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sowell was born in Wood County and moved to Brownwood in 1931. She married Herbert Sowell in 1933 in Brown County and graduated from Howard Payne College in 1950. She was a retired bookkeeper of the Brown County Auditor's Office and was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; two daughters, Evelyn Sowell of Phoenix, Ariz., and Sharon Ford of Brownwood; two sons, Duane Sowell of Lubbock and Norm Sowell of Dallas; one sister, Gladys Nichols of Winnsboro; and two grandchildren.

Rosemary Elizabeth McDowell
BIG SPRING -- Rosemary Elizabeth McDowell, 97, of Glasscock County died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Big Spring First Baptist Church with Lanny Hamby and Drs. Jordan Grooms and Kenneth Patrick officiating. Burial will be in McDowell Cemetery on the McDowell Ranch in Glasscock County, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mrs. McDowell was born in Madisonville, Ky., and grew up in Kansas City, Mo. She formerly worked as a registered nurse and later moved to Glasscock County. She was a rancher for many years. She was a former member of First United Methodist Church. She was a member of Hyperion Club, Garden Club and First Baptist Church and was the widow of Lorin Sloan McDowell Jr., whom she married in 1936 in Fort Worth.
Survivors include one son, Lorin S. McDowell III of Glasscock County; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

T. Harlin Williams
T. Harlin Williams, 86, lifelong Abilene-area resident, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Paulding officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. Williams was born in Clyde and worked for Wilson & Co. for 19 years and then Gooch Packing Co., also for 19 years. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church and taught third-grade Sunday school for 25 years.
Survivors include several cousins.

James Vernon Minor Sr.
James Vernon Minor Sr., 60, formerly of Abilene, died Thursday in Rhome, Texas.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Chaplain Michael Downs officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery.
Mr. Minor was born in Albany and attended school in both Albany and Abilene. He lived in Abilene for many years and was a self-employed truck driver. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Bobbie Glover Minor.
Survivors include two sons, James Minor Jr. of Abilene and Lee Minor of Wink; three daughters, Katherine Pearson of Blair, Okla., and Tina Kovar and Melissia Chew, both of Fort Worth; his mother and stepfather, Marie and Ike Keeney of Abilene; one brother, Walter B. Minor of Houston; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to Community Hospice of Texas, 1000 Summit, Fort Worth 76102.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Herman Woodrow Turnbow
Herman Woodrow Turnbow, 77, died Friday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. David Cason officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 4002 Buffalo Gap Road.
Mr. Turnbow was born in Stephenville, where he married Wilda Hodges in 1944, and worked as a painter for more than 30 years until retiring in 1978 due to illness. He moved to Abilene more than 30 years ago and was a member of Broadview Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Harold Lee Turnbow of Bridgeview, Ill.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews; and two cousins.

V.F. Sugg
V.F. Sugg, 87, employed by Coca Cola for 23 years, died Friday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Oakwood Cemetery in Cisco with the Rev. David Chandler officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mr. Sugg was born in Taylor Town, near Paris, Texas, and married Eula Harris in 1931 in Cisco. He was a Nazarene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; three sons, Donald Sugg of Grand Prairie, Glenn Sugg of Fort Worth and Clifton Sugg of Abilene; four daughters, Shirley Stearns, Linda Price, Jo Ann Hoover and Margie Bruce, all of Abilene; one sister, Mabel Manning of Abilene; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Irene Scott
Irene Scott, 98, dental assistant for Dr. David Ramsey Sr. and Dr. David Ramsey Jr. for 37 years until retiring in 1970, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with Murphy Rhodes and Pete English officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Anson.
Miss Scott grew up in Funston near Anson and attended business college in Abilene. She was a member of Rose Park Senior Citizens Center and North Fifth and Grape Church of Christ.
Survivors include several cousins, including Norman B. Scott and Robert Spraberry, both of Abilene.
