Loveta Brandon Sartor
MERIDIAN - Loveta Brandon Sartor, 79, of Hico and formerly of Meridian, died Saturday at a Hico retirement center.
Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan, directed by Lawson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sartor lived in Lipan for many years before moving to Meridian in 1966 and to Hico in 1994. She married Joseph Sartor in 1937; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Neva Swann of Stephenville; one son, John Sartor of Willis; and numerous other relatives.

Ida Alice Harris
HASKELL - Ida Alice Harris, 78, died Thursday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Goree Cemetery in Goree with John Hall officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Harris was born in Elbert and had lived in Haskell for 20 years. She was a Baptist and a homemaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Rose Lyan and Debra Hawkes, both of El Cajon, Calif.; two sons, Edward Harris and Fred Harris, both of El Cajon; one brother, Ira Hargrove of Goree; four sisters, Irene Teaff of Bula, Angie Sundstrom of San Diego, Calif., Christine Phillips of Holliday and Pearl Strickland of Haskell; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Verna Mae Duffer
BROWNWOOD - Verna Mae Duffer, 90, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Galloway officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Park in Early.
Mrs. Duffer was born in Comanche County and moved to Brownwood from Loraine in 1939. She was a homemaker, a member of Woodland Heights Baptist Church and an associate member of First United Methodist Church of Early. She married Leon Duffer in 1928 in Mitchell County; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Travis Duffer of Brownwood; one daughter, Jean Starnes of Brownwood; two sisters, Oma McCann of California and Myrtle Tate of Oklahoma; five grandchildren, one stepgrandchild, four great-grandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren.

Wilton Jones, M.D.
SNYDER - Wilton N. Jones, M.D., 73, of San Angelo died Saturday at an Andrews hospital after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo with the Revs. Russell Patrick, Miller Robinson and Robert Hedges officiating. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Local arrangements were by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Dr. Jones was born in Mangum, Okla., and was an Army veteran of World War II and a veteran of the Army Medical Corps. He graduated from the University of Oklahoma with bachelor's, master's and medical degrees and was board certified in abdominal surgery and addiction medicine. He practice in Snyder and Big Spring before moving to San Angelo in 1987. He married Dr. Carolyn Blankenship in 1985 in Big Spring.
Survivors include his wife, of San Angelo; three daughters, Penny Bane of Andrews, Becky Jones of Austin and Cindy Cone of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two sons, Tim Jones of Austin and Mark Reed of Grapevine; and eight grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 875 C.R. 1101, Hermleigh 79526; Ruth Fox Memorial Fund; or Endowment for American Society for Addiction Medicine, 12 W. 21st, New York NY 10010.
The body will lie in state at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home until Tuesday morning and at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo from Tuesday afternoon until service time.

Oma Long
ROTAN - Oma Long, 84, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mrs. Long was born in Nocona and had lived in Rotan for 33 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a homemaker. She married Jeb Long in 1940; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Stuart Long of Houston; one brother, Crillon Payne of Denton; three nephews and three grandchildren.

Dick Edwards
ROTAN - Dick Edwards, 76, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Werth Mayes and Jim Lanning officiating. Burial will be in Belvieu Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Edwards was born in Rotan and grew up in the Pleasant Valley Community. He was a farmer and a veteran of World War II. He served on the Rotan school board for 12 years and was manager of Rotan Gin Co. for six years. He was a member of First Baptist Church for 20-plus years. He married Leota Edwards in 1947 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Rotan; one son, Stanley Edwards of San Angelo; one brother, Clinton Edwards of Fort Worth; three sisters, Margie Overbeck of Seminole and Tommie Edwards and Billie Gunnup, both of Fort Worth; and two granddaughters.

Malcolm Cooper
Malcolm W. Cooper, 86, a former longtime resident of Abilene, died Saturday in Charleston, S.C.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Southwest Park Baptist Church with the Revs. Mike Woodard and James Cooper officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Cooper was born in Farmington, N.M., and graduated from Novice High School. He was a retired service technician, working many years for Sears in Abilene. He moved from Abilene to Charleston in 1994. He was a member and former deacon of Southwest Park Baptist Church. He was the widower of Beulah Montgomery Cooper.
Survivors include one son, Alan B. Cooper of Fort Worth; two daughters, Lynda Dial of Summerville, S.C., and Edna Callaham of Sumter, S.C.; one brother, Mel Cooper of Albuquerque, N.M.; one sister, Alma Lee Scranton of Long View, Wash.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. today.

L.J. Jones
L.J. Jones, 78, of Abilene died Friday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home Chapel, 1443 N. Second, with the Rev. Mack Moye officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Jones was born in Rosebud and moved to Abilene in 1957. He was a member of Holiday Hill Baptist Church. He married Pervennia McBride in 1945 in Temple.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, John L. Jones of Folsom, Calif.; 10 daughters, Fannie Taylor, Flora Mae Bolden, Brenda Holloway, Lovie Jones and Mary Ann Jones, all of Abilene, Linda Holloway of Arlington, Dovie Daniels and Tawana Clark, both of Columbus, Ohio, Minnie Ibbara of Austin and Kerran Woods of Hampton, Va.; two sisters, Vivian Hardman of Cameron and Virgie Mae McEnnis of Houston; 33 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Dinner will be served after the service at Emmanual Church of God in Christ, North 12th and Mesquite.

Hughie Williams
Hughie A. Williams, 82, a longtime Abilene resident, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Williams was born in Washington, Ind., and graduated from high school in Dexler, Mo., in 1930. He retired after working as a finisher for Abilene Casket Co. in Abilene for 33 years. He was a Methodist and an Army veteran. He married Lola Sarah Craig in 1942 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; five sisters, Glenda Barrett, Shirley Speth and Norma Williams, all of Indiana, Imogene Morris of Kentucky and Fay Meeker of Illinois; five brothers, John Ellis Williams of Illinois, Walter Williams, Glendon Williams and Harvey Williams, all of Indiana, and Donald Williams of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
