Avelon Harris
RISING STAR -- Avelon Harris, 81, died Friday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmy Turner officiating. Burial will be in Rising Star Cemetery.
Mrs. Harris was born in New Mexico and lived in Rising Star most of her life. She worked as a beautician. She was a Baptist and was the widow of W.W. Harris, whom she married in 1933 in Brownwood.
Survivors include two daughters, Sammie L. Turner of Haskell and Johnnie Mae Mebill of Rising Star; two brothers, Freddy Stacy and Wayne Stacy, both of Abilene; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Nelia McDaniel Tompkins
BIG SPRING -- Nelia I. McDaniel Tompkins, 99, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services were held Saturday in Trinity Memorial Park with Dr. Kenneth Patrick officiating, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Tompkins was born in Hillsboro and attended school in Abilene. She moved to Big Spring in 1932. She and her husband owned and operated Homer's Grocery and Market. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and was the widow of John Homer Tompkins, whom she married in 1916 in Roby.
Survivors include one son, Charles Tompkins of Buchanan Dam; two daughters, Patsy Henry of Odessa and Doris Ortiz of Abilene; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

William Jean Roberts
SWEETWATER -- William Jean Roberts, 94, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Broadway Baptist Church with the Rev. Lyndel Hix officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Mr. Roberts was born in Tom Green County and married Elizabeth Herridge in 1936 in Ballinger. He moved to Sweetwater in 1940 and was a retired government trapper. He also was a cowboy, rancher, truck driver and rodeo worker. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Sweetwater; three daughters, Betty Jean Bowman of Hilltop Lake, Elaine Pittman of Lubbock and Patricia Ann Wann of Winnsboro; two sons, Ross E. Smith of Grand Prairie and James L. Roberts of Sweetwater; 13 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Ethel Verle Falls Young
COLEMAN -- Ethel Verle Falls Young, 84, died Friday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Ira Cemetery.
Mrs. Young was born in Ira and graduated from Snyder High School. She attended North Texas State University. She taught school in Ira and worked for the Federal Land Bank in Snyder and Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service office in Coleman until retiring. She was a homemaker. She was a Presbyterian and was the widow of A.J. Young, whom she married in 1936 in Snyder.
Survivors include two sisters, Georgene Galloway of Snyder and Jane Forsyth of Happy; three brothers, W.T. "Pat" Falls of Snyder, John E. Falls Jr. of Johnson City, Tenn., and Joe Falls of Ira; and 12 nieces and nephews.

Camilla McBride
EARLY -- Camilla Bride, 82, died Saturday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Galloway officiating. Burial will be in May Cemetery.
Mrs. McBride was born in Rising Star, where she attended school, and married Stanley K. McBride in 1936 in Comanche. She was a homemaker and lived in Odessa for many years until moving to Early in 1976. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Early; two sons, Johnny McBride and S.K. McBride Jr., both of Odessa; three daughters, Mae Claire McCoard of Arlington, Barbara McBride of Grand Prairie and Nelda Holman of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Roger Smith of Lubbock; one sister, Geneva Miller of Mayfield Heights, Ohio; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Carrie Patton
Carrie V. Patton, 90, of Abilene died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Jimmy Bowers officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery. The funeral will go in procession from the funeral home and arrive at the cemetery at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Mrs. Patton had lived in Tye since 1960 and was a member of the Pentecostal church. She was a homemaker and a member of the senior citizens group in Tye. She was the widow of Elmer G. Patton Sr.
Survivors include one son, Elmer Patton of Talco; two daughters, Helen Pendleton of Abilene and Adelle Bailey of Tye; one brother, Loy Cosby of Sweetwater; six grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 7-9 p.m. today.

Lena Lindsey Marcom
COLORADO CITY - Lena Lindsey Marcom, 62, died Saturday at a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Spear officiating, assisted by the Revs. Fred Smith and Glen Roenfelt. Burial will be in Colorado City Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Marcom was born in Mitchell County, where she lived all her life. She was office manager for the Department of Highways and Public Transportation and a member of First Baptist Church. She married Buddy Marcom in 1970 in Colorado City.
Survivors include her husband, of Colorado City; her mother, Pearl Lindsey of Colorado City; one son, Alan Marcom of Midland; one daughter, Anne Marcom of Lubbock; and three grandchildren.

Arthur Cox
OLD GLORY - Arthur Cox, 88, died Friday in Falls City, Neb.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sweet Home Baptist Church with the Rev. Burt Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rule Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Aspermont.
Mr. Cox was born in Poolville and was a retired farmer and a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church. He married Leora "Potsy" Bradley in 1929 in Oklahoma.
Survivors include his wife, of Falls City; one son, Johnny Cox of Falls City; 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

P. Ozelle Kilgore
BENJAMIN - P. Ozelle Kilgore, 82, died Saturday in San Angelo.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church with the Rev. Ronnie White officiating. Burial will be in Benjamin Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home of Knox City.
Mrs. Kilgore was born in Hollister, Okla., and lived in Benjamin most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Sorosis Club and First Christian Church. She married Willard Kilgore in 1938; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Gaylon Kilgore of Benjamin and Gerald Kilgore of Des Moines, Iowa; two daughters, Willa Cunningham of San Angelo and Barbara Ann Kilgore of Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
