Gerald Curtis Lovelady
Gerald Curtis Lovelady, 71, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Jeffery Fenwick officiating. Burial will be in Buffalo Gap Cemetery.
Mr. Lovelady was born in Seagraves and moved to Abilene in the early 1940s from the Texas Plains. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Ruth Tutt in 1948 in Abilene. He was a sheet metal mechanic for 40 years in Abilene and worked for Abilene Sheet Metal for 20 years, Batjer and Associates, and Air-Co. He returned to Abilene in 1991 from Buffalo Gap and was employed by Lovelady Welding in Tuscola since 1986. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two daughters, Donna Fenwick of Truby and Suzanne McMillon of Abilene; two sons, Scotty Gerald Lovelady and Randall Lovelady, both of Tuscola; two brothers, Leo Lovelady of Hawley and Elvis Lovelady of Abilene; two sisters, Luan Meyer and Betty Cannon, both of Abilene; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Philip Gaul
Philip C. Gaul, 86, died Monday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Rev. David Botterbrodt officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mr. Gaul was born in Ottawa, Ill., and married Edith Rose Mang in 1936. He was a retired architectural consultant and also was a locksmith. He was a director of the Lake Michigan Yacht Association for many years and was a past commander of the Starved Rock Yacht Club in Ottawa, Ill. He was a member of the Chicago chapter of the United States Power Squadron and Evangelical United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one daughter, Dorothy Scherer of Abilene; one son, Philip R. Gaul of Covina, Calif.; two brothers, Elmer Gaul and Richard J. Gaul, both of Ottawa, Ill.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Joe Dick Glover
BAIRD -- Joe Dick Glover, 58, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Parker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rodney Watson officiating. The body will be cremated.
Mr. Glover was born in Lela and moved to Baird in 1981 from Dallas. He married Rose Parks in 1982 in Clyde and managed the Walnut Hills Apartments. He was a Methodist.
Survivors include his wife, of Baird; two sons, Jay Hurley of Clyde and Jeff Hurley of Abilene; two daughters, Jamie Pisasale and Julie Jenkins, both of Abilene; one brother, Dan R. Glover of Dallas; and one nephew.

Vera Richards
FORT COLLINS, Colo. -- Vera D. Richards, 70, mother of an Anson resident, died Sunday in a local nursing home.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Harmony Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Larry Kunter officiating. Arrangements were made by Goes Funeral Care.
Mrs. Richards was born in Medicine Bow, Wyo., and graduated from Laramie High School in Laramie, Wyo. in 1945. She lived in San Francisco before moving to Fort Collins in 1969 from Andrews. She worked as a cook at Colorado State University in Fort Collins for 17-1/2 years until retiring in 1987. She was a Presbyterian.
Survivors include one son, Rodney Gene Richards of Anson; one daughter, Cindy Richards of Fort Collins; four brothers, Roger Grooman and David Grooman, both of Sacramento, Calif., Melvin Grooman of Tacoma, Wash., and Kenneth Grooman of Juneau, Alaska; two sisters, Dolores Pfeifer of Fort Lupton, Colo., and Frances Boyer of Sacramento, Calif.; and eight grandchildren.

Lenard Charles 'PeeWee' Wells
BROWNWOOD -- Lenard Charles "PeeWee" Wells, 74, of Fort Stockton and formerly of Brownwood, died Monday in an Odessa hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Jenkins Springs Cemetery in Brown County with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mr. Wells was born in Bronte and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a retired appliance technician.
Survivors include a longtime companion, Rose Livengood of Fort Stockton; two stepsons, Ricky Wells of Fort Stockton and Jimmy Wells of Brownwood; three daughters, Sue Mann of Brownwood, Sandra Blevins of Odessa and Jacquline Stringer of Hawkins; one brother, David Wells of Carlsbad, N.M.; two sisters, Adell Asbury and Lula Sikes; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Geneva Navratil
SEYMOUR -- Geneva Navratil, 77, formerly of Gilliland, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Seymour Church of Christ with A.B. Martin and Royce Miller officiating. Burial will be in Gilliland Cemetery, directed by Archer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Navratil was born in Oklahoma and farmed in Gilliland until moving to Seymour in 1984. She was a member of the Seymour Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and Church of Christ and was the widow of Arnold Navratil, whom she married in 1941.
Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Lou Hardin of Seymour, Norma Jo Matthews of Anson and Doris Ann Wilson of Gustine; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gladys Armstrong
BROWNWOOD -- Gladys Armstrong, 94, formerly of Ballinger, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen Cemetery in Ballinger with the Revs. Lloyd Hagemeier and Richard Hetzel officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home of Early.
Mrs. Armstrong was born in West, Texas, and attended school in Ballinger. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was the widow of Clarence L. Armstrong, whom she married in 1925 in Ballinger.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Rogers of Brownwood; one great-grandchild; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and one nephew.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Elizabeth 'Betty' Jean Sutton
COLEMAN -- Elizabeth "Betty" Jean Sutton, 72, died Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Sunset Memorial Park in Odessa with the Rev. Clarence Smith officiating, directed by Walker Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sutton was born in Omaha, Neb., and worked as a waitress. She was a Baptist and was the widow of Thomas Paul Sutton, whom she married in 1940 in Reno, Nev.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Barret of Lucerne, Calif., and Gloria Edmiston of Coleman; two sons, William Paul "Bill" Sutton and Jerry Carrol Sutton, both of Odessa; one sister, Arlene Foster of Nevado, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.

Alton Allen
BIG SPRING -- Alton G. Allen, 91, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Coahoma Church of Christ with Russell Mullins officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olive Memorial Park, directed by Myers & Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Allen was born in Hunt County and moved to Big Spring in 1944. He then co-owned and operated Allen Brothers Garage until 1973. He was a member of Coahoma Church of Christ and was the widower of Eula Mae Mount Allen, whom he married in 1929; and Isabelle Robertson Allen, whom he married in 1973.
Survivors include one son, Donald Allen of Coahoma; one daughter, Melva Swinney of Medina; one brother, Wayne Allen of Big Spring; one sister, Jimmie Dean of Wills Point; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
