Claude Neilon
Claude Neilon, 79, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Elmwood Memorial Park with the Revs. Jim Zug and Chris Diebel officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Neilon was born in Wylie near Dallas and attended Hardin-Simmons University. He worked as an electronics salesman before owning Neilon's TV & Stereo. He was a member of First Christian Church and was the widower of Marie Wittman Neilon, whom he married in 1938 in Abilene.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Neilon of Grapevine and David Neilon of Irving; three daughters, Barbara Brock of Wichita Falls, Susie Weaver of Keller and Nancy Estes of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at 3724 S. 20th.

R.L. East
R.L. East, 82, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel with the Rev. Jo Gay and John Waters officiating, directed by Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home, 1443 N. 2nd.
Mr. East was born in Ardmore, Okla., and married Hazel Blair in 1956 in San Angelo. He worked for Wes-Tex Drilling Co. and Fred Kinerd Texaco. He was a member of Oil Bowling League for many years and Epworth United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Cecil R. Lassiter of Abilene; two daughters, Barbara Johnson of Austin and Linda Hardin of Abilene; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jeffie Pearl Wilson Lane
LITTLETON, Colo. -- Jeffie Pearl Wilson Lane, 77, mother of an Abilene resident, died Oct. 14 in Littleton.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Baptist Church in Midland. Arrangements were made by Drinkwine Mortuary.
Mrs. Lane was born near De Leon and graduated from Warfield School near Midland. She worked as a meat wrapper in the grocery industry for 18 years until retiring. She then was a cook for Meals on Wheels and Sears Nursing Home. She was the widow of Harold Alton Lane, whom she married in 1941 in Midland.
Survivors include two daughters, Barbara Jean of Littleton and Pamela Moseley of Abilene; one sister, Irene Woodruff of Midland; one brother, Barnett Wilson of Sarasota, Fla.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jerry Don Bryan
DE LEON -- Jerry Don Bryan, 55, died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Higginbotham Funeral Home Chapel in Gorman with Darrell Dossey officiating. Burial will be in Gorman Cemetery.
Mr. Bryan was born in Haskell and married Shirley Darlene Wright in 1959 in Cuna, Mexico. He worked for Golden Peanut Co. in Comyn since 1983 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of De Leon; two sons, Harvey Bryan of Gorman and Dwayne Bryan of De Leon; two daughters, Rhonda Swanner of Gorman and Tammy Battenfield of De Leon; his mother, Lillian Gene Brooker of Abilene; two half-brothers, Joe Brooker of Abilene and Charles Ray Bryan of Independence, Kan.; six half-sisters, Shirley Helms of Azle, Martha Greenwood of Odessa, Sherry Owens and Charlene Soto, both of Abilene, Clarie Knapp of Tye and Betty Kay of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Anita Lillian Kunkel-Boelk
BROWNWOOD -- Anita Lillian Kunkel-Boelk, 84, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Philip Graf officiating. Burial will be in National Veterans Cemetery in Riverside, Calif., directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Boelk was born in Priddy and was retired from the state of California. She moved to Brownwood in 1991 from Visalia, Calif. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was the widow of Bruce Lloyd Boelk, whom she married in 1947 in California.
Survivors include three sisters, Nelda Hodges of Abilene, and Edna Taylor and Hanna Lippe, both of Brownwood; many nieces and nephews; and several cousins.

Charlie Owens
HASKELL -- Charlie Owens, 75, owner and operator of Owens Electric from 1971-91, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Haskell First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Owens was born in Lingleville and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He lived in Waco and Roaring Springs before moving to Haskell in 1971. He was the widower of Marie Hill Owens. He married Augusta Pogue in 1985 in Haskell and was a past member of Rotary International. He was a member of Church Builders of Texas and American Legion. He sang in the choir at First Baptist Church and was a member of Gospel Singers, which sang at nursing homes.
Survivors include his wife, of Haskell; one daughter, Charlene Dumas of Haskell; one stepson, Tommy Pogue of Lago Vista; one stepdaughter, Kay Fairbanks of Lubbock; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step grandchildren.

Charles Stephens
COMANCHE -- Charles J. Stephens, 67, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Oakview Cemetery in Mullin, directed by Hall & Sons Funeral Home.
Mr. Stephens was born in Stephenville and married Dalphine Elliott Kennedy in 1959 in De Leon. He moved to Comanche in 1983 from Cross Plains and was a retired mechanic. He also was a rancher and was a deacon at Willow Springs Primitive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Comanche; five daughters, Brenda Kennedy, Mary Schneider and Charlene Stephens, all of Stephenville, Meria Moody of Zephyr and Paula Region of Dublin; five sons, Kirby Stephens and Joe Kennedy, both of Stephenville, Dean Kennedy of Brownwood, Brian Stephens of Mission and Jess Kennedy of Angleton; three brothers, Willie Gail Stephens and Sid Stephens, both of Stephenville, and Paul Vance Stephens of Gatesville; 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

E.L. 'Bill' Killion
BRECKENRIDGE -- E.L. "Bill" Killion, 65, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First Christian Church with the Rev. Brent Lively and Charles Kuhn officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Mr. Killion was born in Breckenridge and owned Killion Well Service. He was a member of First Christian Church and was the widower of Charleen Fay Price Killion, whom he married in 1952 in Breckenridge.
Survivors include four sons, Rodney Burton, Bud Burton and Ricky Killion, all of Breckenridge, and Kenny Killion of Burleson; two sisters, Joyce Bridges of Breckenridge and Irene Baggett of Ringgold, Ga.; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Melvin 'Grumpy' Hunter
SWEETWATER -- Melvin "Grumpy" Hunter, 95, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Cate-Spencer & Trent Funeral Home Chapel with Kenneth Green officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories.
Mr. Hunter was born in Tecumseh, Okla., and moved to Sweetwater in 1944 from Hylton. He worked as a diesel mechanic for Chemical Express and then a truck driver for Sweetwater Ready Mix until retiring at age 78. He was a member of Normandy Avenue Church of Christ and was the widower of Lottie Jewel Blair Hunter, whom he married in 1937 in Sweetwater.
Survivors include one sister, Lorea Tampke of San Antonio; and many nieces and nephews.
