M.V. Thomas
SAN ANGELO - M.V. Thomas, 77, father of a Buffalo Gap resident, died Monday after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Johnson's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ed Wandling officiating. Burial will be in Eola Cemetery.
Mr. Thomas was born in Gainesville and was a U.S. Army veteran. He worked as a used car salesman at Mustang Chevrolet and, after retiring, was a contract mower for the state of Texas. He farmed in the Eola area for many years and was the widower of Beulah Mayes Thomas, whom he married in 1941 in San Angelo.
Survivors include one son, Randy Thomas of Hillsboro; two daughters, Myra Strain of Grape Creek and Glenda Sullivan of Buffalo Gap; one brother, Kenneth Thomas of San Angelo; three sisters, Theron Steele of Colleyville, Wanda Pinard of Midland and Joyce Burkhart of San Marcos; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Thomas Roy Marshall
Thomas Roy Marshall, 88, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Jack Hardy and Dr. Elbert Peak officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Marshall was born in Lexington, Texas, and attended school in Swan's Chapel in Jones County. He married Tillie Peden in 1937 in Anson and moved to Abilene in 1945 from Shackelford County. He was an automobile painter and body worker for Western Chevrolet for 27 years and then was self-employed until retiring. He was a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one daughter, Patricia Jane Carver of Andrews, N.C.; one son, Col. John Newton Marshall of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Dorothy Marshall and Nora Marshall, both of Anson; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Elva Aden Saddler
Elva Aden Saddler, 103, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 U.S. Hwy 277 South, with the Rev. Mike Saddler officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Saddler was born in Branchville, Ind., and was a homemaker. She moved to Abilene in 1963 from Rockport, Ind. She was a Methodist and was the widow of Charles Clark Saddler, whom she married in 1912 in Cannelton, Ind.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Clark Saddler Jr. of Lakeland, Fla., and Joseph Ralph Saddler of Velpen, Ind.; three daughters, Mary Saddler Adrian of Mount Helens, Mich., and Rebecca Saddler and Doris Saddler, both of Abilene; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Janet Parkey
A memorial service for educator Janet Parkey, 55, who died Tuesday, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest.
The Revs. Scott Mayer and Bill Martin will officiate. The body will be cremated. Arrangements are under the direction of Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Parkey taught home economics from 1979-91 at Madison Middle School and Abilene High before being assigned to an administrative post in charge of special grants. She was promoted in 1992 to associate principal at Abilene High.
Janet Grace Wilson Parkey was born New Years Day 1942 in Kittanning, Pa. She earned a bachelor's degree in home economics from Oklahoma State University in 1964 and began teaching in Texas City. She moved to Abilene in 1979 after earning a master's degree from Texas Tech.
Parkey is survived by two sons, James Neil Parkey of Wichita Falls and John Randale Parkey of South Lafayette, Ind.; a daughter, Carole Elizabeth Parkey of Yonkers, N.Y.; a brother, John Russell Wilson of Red Bank, Pa.; and a sister, Carole Elaine Martin of Little Rock, Ark.

J.T. 'Shorty' Nix
STAMFORD - J.T. "Shorty" Nix, 37, died Tuesday from injuries received in an automobile accident in Shackelford County.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wingrove officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.
Mr. Nix was born in Abilene and graduated from Stamford High School in 1979. He married Caron Beggs Lindsey in 1985. He worked as an oilfield operator for Wingrove Well Service in Lueders and, at the time of his death, for Snyder Drilling Corp. He taught Sunday school in the youth department at Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Stamford; two stepsons, Shane Lindsey and Cody Lindsey, both of Arlington; his parents, Oneal and Joy Nix of Grand Prairie; one brother, Allen Nix of Lueders; one sister, Kim Elkins of Grand Prairie; his grandmother; and two grandchildren.

Ethan Raeff Franklin
LOUIN, Miss. - Ethan Raeff Franklin, infant, relative of two Abilene residents, died Tuesday in a Forest, Miss. hospital after a short illness.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel in Forest, Miss. with the Revs. Judean Purser and Dan Perry officiating. Burial will be in Clear Springs Baptist Cemetery.
Survivors include his parents, Sean and Carol Franklin of Pineville, Miss.; one sister, Carlie Adcock of Pineville, Miss.; his maternal grandmother, Kathy Ashley of Pineville, Miss.; his maternal great-grandparents, Frances Rawls and Morgan Rawls, both of Pineville, Miss.; his paternal grandparents, Bill and Gaybie Fortinberry of Forest, Miss., and Jerry Franklin of Abilene; his paternal great-grandmothers, Jennie Dennis of Montgomery, Ala., and Mary Franklin of Abilene; and two aunts and three uncles.

Linnie Earline Harrison
BRECKENRIDGE - Linnie Earline Harrison, 72, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Morehart Mortuary Chapel with the Rev. Cecil Harper officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Harrison was born in Leaday in Coleman County and attended Breckenridge High School and Ranger Vocational Nursing School. She formerly lived in Bangs. She worked as a licensed vocational nurse at Stephens Memorial Hospital and Villa Haven Nursing Center. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the widow of C.W. Harrison, whom she married in 1941.
Survivors include two sons, Marvin Harrison of Breckenridge and Raymond Harrison of Coahoma; three sisters, Francis Boyle of Breckenridge, June Zink of Bangs and Pauline Dyches of Abilene; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one aunt; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels and left at the funeral home.

Ruth Ewing
COLEMAN - Ruth (Mrs. N.B. "Boots") Ewing, 89, cashier at Conger's Cafe for many years, died Tuesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hammonds officiating. Burial will be in Coleman Cemetery.
Mrs. Ewing was born near Lockhart in Caldwell County and attended school in Ballinger. She moved in 1927 to Coleman, where she operated a rooming hotel. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of N.B. "Boots" Ewing, whom she married in 1926 in Breckenridge.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

Buddy Angle
KNOX CITY - Buddy Angle, 81, Knox City mayor for 16 years, died Tuesday in a Lubbock hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Knox City First Baptist Church with the Revs. Johnny Johnson and John Gillispie officiating. Burial will be in Knox City Cemetery, directed by Smith Funeral Home.
Mr. Angle was born in Haskell County and graduated from Knox City High School in 1935. He served with the U.S. Army in the Philippines and Japan and married Billye B. Benedict in 1940 in Knox City. He was a farmer and was a former Knox City councilman. He and his grandsons received statewide media attention for their operation of Clay's and Scooter's Sno-Cone Factory, which specialized in the frozen pickle-on-a-stick. He also served as Santa Claus for Christmas parades. He was a member of Knox County Farmers Union and was a greeter at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Knox City; two daughters, Gwen Angle Decker of Lubbock and Stacy Angle Thompson of Knox City; one sister, Eloise Patton of Nolanville; and two grandchildren.
