Herbert Ernest Wende
CISCO - Herbert Ernest Wende, 87, died Saturday at a Mineral Wells nursing home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Richard Nelson officiating, assisted by the Rev. Martin Kaufmann. Burial will be in Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mr. Wende was born in the Word community and was a farmer-rancher. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Eastland County Farm Bureau and Nimrod Progressive Club. He married Lissette Johanna Eifert in 1943 near Cisco; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruby Paulsen of Mineral Wells; two sisters, Dora Schaefer and Lubena Rumley, both of Cisco; two grandsons and several nieces and nephews.

Nellie Ruth Eaton
QUANAH -- Nellie Ruth Eaton, 91, mother of an Abilene resident, died Monday at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Price-Jackson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Greer officiating. Burial will be in Quanah Memorial Park.
Mrs. Eaton was born in Agatite and was a lifelong Hardeman County resident. She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of William Clarence Eaton, whom she married in 1925 in Vernon.
Survivors include three daughters, Muriel Ball and Sharon Brandon, both of Quanah, and Charlotte Blair of Abilene; one son, William C. Eaton Jr. of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; one sister, Mary Garrett of Fresno, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Royce Hardy
MERKEL -- Royce Hardy, 74, died Monday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Scott officiating. Burial will be in Trent Cemetery.
Mr. Hardy was born in Holland, Texas, and was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He married Joy Nichols in 1944 in Pampa and managed dry good businesses in Stamford, Munday, Graham, Brownfield and Monahans. He moved to Merkel in 1963 and owned Hardy Grocery Store until selling it in 1974. He owned Little Jewel Grocery Store in Abilene from 1976 until retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Munday Masonic Lodge and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; one son, Royce Hardy of Kissimmee, Fla.; one daughter, Linda Stinson of Abilene; one brother, Bobby Hardy of Abilene; two sisters, Lou Cox of Snyder and La Rue Debusk of Anson; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.

UV Rushing
LANSDALE, Pa. -- UV Rushing, 92, formerly of Lansdale and Abilene, died Thursday in a Harleysville, Pa. nursing home.
Private graveside services were held in Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Prospectville, Pa. with the Rev. Scherry Fouke officiating, directed by Huff & Lakjer Funeral Home.
Mrs. Rushing was born in Abilene and graduated from Sul Ross Normal School in Alpine in 1922. She taught school in the Alpine-Marfa area and Lawn for several years and lived in Lawn, Stanton, Odessa, Fort Worth, Beaumont, White Plains, N.Y., Harrington Park, N.J., Rumbai, Sumatra, Indonesia, Flemington, N.J., and McAllen. She was the widow of Taylor M. Rushing.
Survivors include three daughters, Frances Dwiggins of McAllen, Mary Fish of Norristown, Pa., and Betty Price of Quakertown, Pa.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Warner Wayne 'W.W.' Williams
RINGGOLD -- Warner Wayne "W.W." Williams, 69, father of an Abilene resident, died Friday in Wichita Falls.
Services were held Monday in Jerry Woods Funeral Home Chapel in Nocona. Burial was in Ringgold Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born in Snyder and moved to Ringgold from Keller. He worked for TU Electric for 37 years until retiring.
Survivors include his wife, Lodene Williams of Ringgold; one son, Bruce Dale Williams of Abilene; two daughters, Janice Spencer of Fort Worth and Teresa Cardenza of Keller; one stepson, David Strickland of Hurst; one stepdaughter, Jeanie Roberson of Fort Worth; one brother, Raymond Williams of Mabank; one sister, Betty Wright of Sunset; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Amy Kristen Walsh
POTTSBORO -- Ryan Mitland Walsh, 14, and Amy Kristen Walsh, 16, relatives of three Big Country residents, died Sunday from injuries received in an automobile accident in Pottsboro.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Georgetown Baptist Church in Pottsboro with the Rev. Michael Butler officiating. Burial will be in Georgetown Cemetery in Pottsboro, directed by Bratcher Funeral Home of Denison.
Ryan and Amy were both born in Plano. He was a freshman and she was a junior at Pottsboro High School.
Survivors include their parents, Patrick Walsh of Pottsboro and Cynthia Walsh of Abilene; their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Maitland Walsh of Pottsboro, Mary Clark of Tivoli and Venus Notgrass of Eastland; their step grandmother, Martha Notgrass of Clyde; several aunts and uncles; and many cousins.

Geraldine Noland
HAWLEY -- Geraldine Noland, 88, died Tuesday in an Anson hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hawley First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Hawley Cemetery, directed by Lawrence-Adams Funeral Home of Anson.
Mrs. Noland was born in Calcutta, W.Va., and moved to Texas in 1926. She was a homemaker and moved to Hawley in 1945 from Putnam. She was a Methodist and was the widow of Julian Noland, whom she married in 1927 in Putnam.
Survivors include two daughters, Janelle Barker and Jean Bristow, both of Hawley; one son, Cleo Noland of Hawley; one brother, Reese Yergin of Albany; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the Donnie Bristow home in Hawley.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Peggy Jane Carlton
ARLINGTON -- Peggy Jane Carlton, 66, formerly of Hamlin, died Monday in Arlington.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in McCaulley Cemetery, directed by Moore Funeral Home.
Ms. Carlton was born in Hamlin and was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Johnston and Betty Howell, both of Arlington; and one niece.

Viva Dell Wilcox
HAMLIN -- Viva Dell Wilcox, 80, died Tuesday in an Anson hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Central Avenue Baptist Church with the Revs. James Brigham and Red Chamberlain officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilcox attended school in Fisher County and was a homemaker. She was the widow of Ben F. Wilcox, whom she married in 1940. She married Mitsuo "Duke" Takara in 1987 and was a member of Central Avenue Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Hamlin; one stepdaughter, Corene Wilder McAnelly of Hamlin; two stepsons, W.F. "Dub" Wilcox of Hamlin and Troy Wilcox of Lake Stamford; 10 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
