Olene Whitworth
SWEETWATER - Olene Whitworth, 80, of the Busby community in Fisher County, died Sunday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at McCoy Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Malcolm Brown officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitworth was born in Gannon (Fisher County) and graduated from Newman High School in Sweetwater in 1934. She moved from Sweetwater to Busby in 1936 and was a farmer-rancher and a Baptist. She married Jack Whitworth in 1936 in Sweetwater; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Watson Moore of Abilene; three sisters, Doris Humphreys and Alma Nelson, both of Abilene, and Mildred Pietzsch of Roscoe; one grandson and three great-granddaughters.

Eva Jewel Webster
CLYDE - Eva Jewel Webster, 101, died Saturday at a local nursing center.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Putnam Cemetery with the Rev. Riley Fugitt officiating, directed by Bailey Funeral Home.
Mrs. Webster was born in Callahan County and attended school at Zion Hill. She moved to Clyde from Stanton, where she had lived for nearly 50 years. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She married Sam Webster in 1932 in Putnam; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two nieces, including Sue Collins of Abilene; one cousin and several great-nieces and -nephews.

Willie Dee Sutton
RANGER - Willie Dee Sutton, 97, a longtime Ranger resident, died Sunday at an Eastland hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Speer officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Stephens County.
Mrs. Sutton was born in the La Casa community in Stephens County and attended Strawn schools before graduating from Abilene High School. She had lived in Ranger since 1939 and was a member and Sunday school teacher at Eastside Baptist Church. She was a member of 47 Club. She married T.B. "Dude" Thompson in 1921. She married Charlie Sutton in 1945; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Mary Bennett of Dallas; one son, Jennings "Babe" Thompson of Houston; two stepsons, Dean Sutton of Abilene and Gene Sutton of Arkansas; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Clyde 'Sug' Sheffield
BROWNWOOD - Clyde M. "Sug" Sheffield, 80, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Santa Anna Cemetery.
Mr. Sheffield was born in Concho County and had lived in Brown County for 55 years. He was a retired truck driver and a Baptist. He married Avis Wilma Click in 1937 in Concho.
Survivors include his wife, of Brownwood; four daughters, Wilma Preston and Gayle Ogden, both of Brownwood, Sharron Holland of May and Vickie Ford of Bryan; two brothers, David Sheffield of Grosvenor and Elmer Sheffield of Paint Rock; one sister, Rena Jones of Novice; nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Bransford 'Brad' Carter
CISCO - Bransford L. "Brad" Carter, 68, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services with military honors will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Oakwood Cemetery with Larry Fitzgerald officiating, directed by Kimbrough Funeral Home.
Mr. Carter was born in Leaksville, N.C. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was employed by Marshall Field/Fieldcrest Mills for six years and Harrell's Service Center Inc. of Austin and Round Rock for 17 years. He was a member of U.S.A.F. Sargeants Association and The Church of the Brethren in Eden, N.C. He married Marjorie Wiggins in 1969 in San Antonio.
Survivors include his wife, of Cisco; three daughters, Belinda Ugarte of Aurora, Colo., Sherry Whispell of Round Rock and Valorie Cantwell of Hutto; four sons, Magnus Carter of North Charleston, S.C., Edward Carter of Kentucky and Ronald Carter and Bransford Lee Carter Jr., both of Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Ralph Carter of Eden, N.C.; four sisters, Naomi Jarrell of Cuthbert, Ga., Barbara Thomas of Owensville, Ind., and Eunice Overby and Lena Baldwin, both of Eden, N.C.; and 10 grandchildren.

James Wilbourne Wood
EASTLAND - James Wilbourne Wood, 65, of Carbon died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bakker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dwaine Clower officiating. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery in Kokomo.
Mr. Wood was born in Gorman, grew up in the Kokomo area and went to school in Gorman and Carbon. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1959. He taught school in Carbon from 1959-1965 and also coached junior high athletics. He was a rural letter carrier in Carbon from 1965-1973 and then began working for the post office in Cisco. He coached Little League in Eastland for many years and was a Methodist. He married Martha Jane Burke in 1958 in Briggs.
Survivors include his wife of Carbon; one son, James Wood of Stephenville; one daughter, Terri Jean Duncan of Cross Plains; one brother, Gene Wood of Eastland; and two grandchildren.

Paul Horne
SEYMOUR - Paul Horne, 85, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Seymour Church of Christ with Bud Branson and A.B. Martin officiating. Burial will be in Gilliland Cemetery, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home of Munday.
Mr. Horne was born in Gilliland and lived there for 75 years before moving to Seymour in 1987. He was owner-operator of a grocery store in Gilliland for 27 years and also worked for B.F. Goodrich Rubber in Borger and Charlie Myers Elevator in Gilliland. He was a former member of the Munday Chamber of Commerce and Knox County hospital board. He was a member of Seymour Church of Christ. He married Erna Lee Welch in 1938 in Seymour.
Survivors include his wife, of Seymour; one son, Ted Horne of Plainview; one daughter, Paula Smith of Aptos, Calif.; two sisters, Ruby Myers of Red Springs and Leola Laquey of Seymour; two brothers, James Horne of Longview and Jack Horne of Gilliland; three grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, one great-grandson and one stepgreat-granddaughter.
The body will be at McCauley-Smith Funeral Home until noon today, then at Archer Funeral Home in Seymour from 1 p.m. until service time.

James Jerry 'Jay' Osborn
CLYDE - James Jerry "Jay" Osborn, 89, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
The body will be cremated. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Bailey Funeral Home with Garlon Sampson officiating.
Mr. Osborn was born in Clyde, where he lived all his life. He graduated from Clyde High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. He was a farmer-rancher and a member of First United Methodist Church. He married Nadine Hodo in 1943 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Clyde; three daughters, Rachel Klingbeil of Meadowlands, Minn., Frances Osborn of Clyde and Ruby Greenway of Stephenville; two brothers, Sam Osborn of Las Cruces, N.M., and John Osborn of Carlsbad, N.M.; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hendrick Hospice Care, 1682 Hickory, Abilene 79604; or the American Cancer Society.

Kenneth Quattlebaum
HASKELL - Kenneth Quattlebaum, 64, died Monday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Willow Cemetery with the Rev. Jim Turner officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Quattlebaum was born in Woodson and had lived in Haskell since 1974. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a Baptist. He was a real estate appraiser and a member of Masonic Lodge 682.
Survivors include two sons, David Denton of Houston and Steve Quattlebaum of Albuquerque, N.M.; one daughter, Karis Quattlebaum of Midland; three sisters, Annette Pevey of Woodson, Paula Day of Oklahoma City, Okla., and Laverne Barnett of Haskell; and one aunt.
Memorials may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
