Walter Gerhart
WINTERS -- Walter Gerhart, 86, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jim Hanson officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Gerhart was born in Harmony in Runnels County, where he attended school, and married Alvina Belitz in 1932 in Winters. He farmed and ranched in the Winters area for many years. He was a Harmony school trustee and was a longtime member of the Winters Riding Club. He helped landscape the Lutheran Cemetery and was a deacon at St. John's Lutheran Church. He also helped build the present church and parsonage.
Survivors include his wife, of Winters; one son, Walter Alvin Gerhart of Ballinger; two daughters, Mary Elizabeth Kurtz of Winters and Rosalie Gerhart Sauer of Abilene; one sister, Elvera Minzenmayer of Winters; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund or Church Endowment Fund.

Winroe 'Windy' Jacoby
COLEMAN -- Winroe "Windy" Jacoby, 77, of Lake Coleman, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jim Considine and Joan Rudolph officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Eden Cemetery.
Mr. Jacoby was born in Concho County and graduated from Eden High School. He married La Nell Siler in 1942 in Concho County and served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He managed the 9 Bar Ranch while living in Harris County from 1956-78. He then moved to Hempstead. He moved to Lake Coleman in 1989 and ranched in Concho, Harris and Waller counties. He was a Lutheran.
Survivors include his wife, of Lake Coleman; two sons, Sam Jacoby of Hempstead and Monte J. Jacoby of Cuero; two brothers, Leonard Jacoby of Eden and Aaron Jacoby of Choctaw, Ark.; two sisters, Evelyn Headley of Gillette, N.J., and Jo Ann Burton of Abilene; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Lake Coleman Volunteer Fire Department or West Texas Rehabilitation Center.

Albin Hokanson
STAMFORD -- Albin Hokanson, 88, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl with the Revs. Stan Leaf and Kent Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Churchyard Cemetery, directed by Tankersley Funeral Home.
Mr. Hokanson was born in Ericksdahl and was a lifelong resident of the Ericksdahl-Stamford area. He attended the Swenson School in Ericksdahl and was a retired farmer. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Ericksdahl and was the widower of Ruth Strand Hokanson, whom he married in 1933 in Ericksdahl.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Hokanson of Stamford and Leon Hokanson of Abilene; one sister, Edith Peterson of Des Plains, Ill.; two grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and 14 step great-grandchildren.

Hazel Mae Griffis
COLEMAN -- Hazel Mae (Mrs. Theo) Griffis, 97, lifelong Coleman County resident, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Walker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating. Burial will be in Valera Cemetery.
Mrs. Griffis was born in Coleman and was a ranch lady. She also helped operate KSTA Radio. She was a member of First Christian Church and was the widow of Theo Griffis.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Griffis of Valera and Bob Griffis of Abilene; one brother, Marcus West of Kingsland; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and one niece.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Corless Osborn
LAWN -- Corless R. Osborn, 79, died Wednesday in a Winters hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Dewey Cemetery with the Rev. Dan Burrow officiating, directed by Fry-Bartlett Funeral Home of Tuscola.
Mr. Osborn was born in Alba in Wood County and moved to Lawn in 1924. He attended Lawn High School and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer and was a Methodist.
Survivors include one brother, Jack Osborn of Houston; and five nieces and three nephews.

Neva Ruth McCulloch
COLEMAN -- Neva Ruth McCulloch, 88, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Services were held Wednesday in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Roger Hammonds officiating. Burial was in Coleman Cemetery.
Mrs. McCulloch was born in Comanche and lived in Tuscola before moving to Coleman more than 70 years ago. She worked as an alterations lady for J.C. Penney's, Grammers Department Store, Gordon's and dry cleaners in Santa Anna and Coleman for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was the widow of Beamus Wilbur McCulloch, whom she married in 1923 in Coleman.
Survivors include three daughters, Ouida Frick of Dallas, Overa Rufle of Wichita, Kan., and Peggy Baker of Mesa, Ariz.; three sons, Tommy McCulloch of Coleman, B.W. McCulloch Jr. of McRae, Ga., and Max McCulloch of Warrensburg, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

Leotis Bennett Meadows
DUNCAN, Okla. -- Leotis Bennett Meadows, 88, formerly of Baird, died Monday in a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Baird Cemetery, directed by Bailes-Polk Funeral Home.
Mrs. Meadows was born in Roscoe and worked as a beautician in Baird for 52 years, with much of that time as owner of Meadows Beauty Salon. She lived in Callahan County for many years until moving to Duncan in 1996. She was a member of the Baird Church of Christ and was the widow of Cecil Kyle Meadows, whom she married in Alamogordo, N.M.
Survivors include one son, Kyle Grant Meadows of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Evette Meadows of De Leon and LeVone Atkinson of Duncan; 14 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Clarence 'Jazbo' Schwartz
COMANCHE -- Clarence "Jazbo" Schwartz, 67, Comanche mayor from 1971-75, died Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Longoria officiating. Burial will be in Comanche Gardens of Memory.
Mr. Schwartz was born in Comanche and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He married Mary Elms in 1955 in Center City and moved to Comanche in 1958 from Brownwood. He worked as a construction contractor and formerly served on the Comanche City Council. He was a Lutheran.
Survivors his wife, of Comanche; one son, Rusty Schwartz of Comanche; two daughters, Patricia Kunkel of Comanche and Shawn Russell of Early; four sisters, Flo Wood of De Leon, Leona Hohertz of Mullin, Alma Jean Hohertz of Priddy and Willie Mae Niemann of Comanche; one brother, Milton Schwartz of Goldthwaite; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to Comanche County Public Library.

Leora Bell 'Tine' Felts
STAMFORD -- Leora Bell "Tine" Felts, 76, lifelong area resident, died Tuesday in an Abilene nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Kinney Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Oscar Fanning officiating. Burial will be in Clear Fork Cemetery in Lueders.
Mrs. Felts was born in Lueders, where she lived most of her life, and worked as a medical aide at the Abilene State School until retiring. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and was the widow of Jack Felts, whom she married in 1935 in Anson.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Ann Petty of Abilene and Judy Routon of Haskell; one son, Marlin Felts of Brownwood; one brother, W.O. Lehew of Lueders; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
