Jo Maxine Evatt Caffey
BROWNWOOD -- Jo Maxine Evatt Caffey, 88, of Clifton and formerly of Brownwood, died Wednesday in a Waco nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Eastlawn Memorial Park in Early with the Rev. Bill Allen officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Caffey was born in May and graduated from Sidney High School in 1928. She moved to Brownwood in 1942 from the Sidney area. She worked at Safeway and Brownwood Manufacturing Co., both in Brownwood, and moved to Clifton in 1988. She was active in Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church in Brownwood and was the widow of Robert Weaver Caffey, whom she married in 1929 in Comanche.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Johnson of Waco; one sister, Garlyn Hoge of New Mexico; and one grandchild.

Ena MacQueen
SWEETWATER -- Ena MacQueen, 85, lifelong local resident, died Tuesday at her home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Stephens Episcopal Church with the Revs. Harland "Steve" Birdwell and Jim Considine officiating. Burial will be in Sweetwater Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home.
Miss MacQueen was born in Alabama and worked as a legal assistant for 67 years for the James Henry Beall Law Firm, which later became Nunn and Griggs. She was a member of St. Stephens Episcopal Church.
Survivors include two nieces and two cousins.

Benny Powell Skinner
MORTON VALLEY -- Benny Powell Skinner, 67, died Wednesday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Eastland First Baptist Church with the Rev. James O. Teel Jr. and Dr. Tom Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home of Eastland.
Mr. Skinner was born in Carbon and graduated from Sundown High School in 1948. He attended Ranger Junior College and married Wanda Lee Beck in 1953 in Strawn. He lived in Morton Valley for many years and worked as a home builder in Texas and New Mexico. He was a member of Eastland First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Morton Valley; three sons, Neil Eugene Skinner, Robert Lee Skinner and Franklin Dwayne Skinner, all of Eastland; one daughter, Elizabeth Elaine Moran of Eastland; one sister, Wilma Cate of Burleson; one brother, Albert Henry Skinner of Sundown; and five grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Big Country and left at the funeral home.

Marjorie Wiley Prentice
Marjorie Wiley Prentice, 76, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
The body was cremated. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jim Pitts officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park. Arrangements were made by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Prentice was born in Schenectady, N.Y., and grew up in Chevy Chase, Md., and Harpswell, Maine. She graduated from College of Wooster in 1942. She married Robert Prentice in 1942 in Newton, Mass., and lived in Richland, Mo., Bradford, Pa. and Broken Arrow, Okla. before moving to Abilene in 1955. She was a member of PEO Sisterhood CK, Colonial Dames and Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Abilene; one son, Richard S. Prentice of Midland; two daughters, Joanne Prentice of Abilene and Peggy Trees of Springfield, Va.; one sister, Mrs. R.L. White of South Harpswell, Maine; one brother, Ken Wiley of Portland, Maine; and five grandchildren.
The family will be at 5449 Meadow Drive.

Edna Mae Byrd
Edna Mae Byrd, 92, died Wednesday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Cedar Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Scott Mayer officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Miss Byrd was born in Chelsea, Indian Territory, Okla., where she graduated from high school, and attended Sinclair Business College in Houston. She moved to Abilene in 1937 from Sweetwater and worked at Sears and Camp Barkeley. She later was employed by the downtown Grissom's Department Store for 27 years. She was a member of American Association of Retired Persons and was a Methodist.
Survivors include two sisters, Clarice Hendricks of Abilene and Odean Scott of Plainview; and three nieces.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jessie Marie Pancake
RISING STAR -- Jessie Marie Pancake, 84, died Wednesday in a Cross Plains nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Pioneer Cemetery with Ruby McCowen officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home of Cross Plains.
Mrs. Pancake was born in Eastland County and was a homemaker. She was a Pentecostal and was the widow of Garland Pancake, whom she married in 1933 in Eastland County.
Survivors include one son, Barney Ray Pancake of Pioneer; one daughter, Marby Fox of Rising Star; four sisters, Ruby McCowen, Kate McCarty, Gertie Powell and Blanch Brooks, all of Cross Plains; one brother, Ray Curry of Abilene; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Alma Loraine 'Dot' Gee
DUBLIN -- Alma Loraine "Dot" Gee, 94, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Harrell Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Garland Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Barbee Cemetery.
Mrs. Gee was born in Dublin and was a homemaker. She was a member of Congregational Methodist Church and was the widow of William L. "Fats" Gee, whom she married in 1921 in Edna Hill.
Survivors include three daughters, Lois Scharlene Starling of San Diego, Dorothy Jo Jurney of Dublin and Carol June Richey of Abilene; one sister, Louise Adams of Hurst; one brother, Charles Ray Stephen of Camay; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

Sidney Clyde Hill
HEMET, Calif. -- Sidney Clyde Hill, 76, formerly of the Anson area, died Nov. 13 at his home.
Private burial was in Riverside National Cemetery, directed by McWane Family Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held in Anson at a later date.
Mr. Hill was born near Anson and attended Hollis Hill School in Jones County. He married Zada Earnest in 1940 in Anson and served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He farmed until moving in 1953 to San Diego, where he lived for 30 years. He married Barbara Mattson in 1954 in California and worked as a mechanic for 22 years for Solar Turbine in San Diego. He moved to Hemet in 1985 and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of Hemet; three daughters, Laretha Darden of Merkel, Dorothy Ann Hill of Hemet and Connie Friddle of Lancaster, Calif.; two sisters, Una Maurine Gernertt of Sweetwater and Ava Martin of Midland; one brother, Donal Earl Hill of Austin; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

J.P. Knight
BALLINGER -- J.P. Knight, 96, died Thursday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Ninth Street Church of Christ with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Old Runnels Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Knight was born in Denton County and lived in the Ballinger area for many years. He was a farmer. He was a member of Ninth Street Church of Christ and was the widower of Ola Mae Williams Knight, whom he married in 1924 in Flower Mound.
Survivors include three sons, James E. Knight of Lewiston, Idaho, Darrell C. Knight of Hawley and Ray Knight of Ballinger; one daughter, Mildred Lackey of Ballinger; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
