Al White
BRECKENRIDGE -- Al White, 73, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Breckenridge First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cecil Harper officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. White was born in Haskell and attended Paint Creek High School. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and married Helen Faye Carruth in 1946 in Haskell. He worked as a route salesman for Mrs. Baird's Bakery from 1959-87. He moved to Breckenridge in 1972 from Abilene and was a bus driver for the Breckenridge school district for 6-1/2 years. He was a member of Breckenridge Square Dance Club. He was a junior department Sunday school teacher, president of the Roustabout class and sang in the senior adult choir at First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; one son, William L. White of Graham; two brothers, Frank White and Harvey White, both of Haskell; four sisters, Minnie Walker of Stamford, and Kathren Clem, Mary Kierkpka and Flossie Garvin, all of Haskell; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels and left at the funeral home.
Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. today in the funeral home's Heritage room.

Arthur Carrol Latson
EASTLAND -- Arthur Carrol Latson, 86, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Daugherty Street Church of Christ with Jim Cox and Ted Kell officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Latson was born in Goliad and grew up in the Patricia-Lamesa area. He was a self-employed electrician in Big Spring and Hurst. He also was a Church of Christ minister in Big Spring, Mesquite, Vealmoor, Westland, Itasca and Brownwood. He was a member of Elliott Street Church of Christ in Breckenridge and was the widower of Esther Frances Latson, whom he married in 1934 in Lamesa.
Survivors include one daughter, Rhama Maxwell of Abilene; one son, Larry Latson of Nashville, Tenn.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Gracie Lee Spence
BLACKWELL -- Gracie Lee Spence, 86, died Saturday in a Bronte nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Blackwell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Casey officiating. Burial will be in Blackwell Cemetery, directed by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Mrs. Spence was born in Fruitvale and was a homemaker. She moved to Blackwell in 1941. She was a member of Blackwell United Methodist Church and was the widow of Roger Q. Spence, whom she married in 1928.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Ware of Sweetwater; one son, Bobby Dean Spence of Abilene; two sisters, Eva Sinclair of Roscoe and Opal Alley of Sweetwater; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A.D. 'Derwood' Cox
RANGER -- A.D. "Derwood" Cox, 72, died Friday in a Temple hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Hayes officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Cox was born in Strawn, where he graduated from high school in 1944, and served with the U.S. Army's transportation division in the European Theater during World War II. He returned to Strawn in 1947. He married Wanda Wheeler in 1947 and moved to San Angelo, where he played semi-professional baseball for the San Angelo Colts for two years. He worked as an oilfield roughneck, tool pusher and consultant for a total of 20 years in West Texas and Oklahoma until retiring due to ill health. He returned to Ranger in 1993 and was life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of Frink Baptist Church in McAlister, Okla.
Survivors include his wife, of Ranger; two sons, Rickey Cox and Danny Cox, both of Ranger; three grandchildren; one uncle and one aunt; and many cousins.

M.G. Walthall
COLEMAN -- M.G. Walthall, 93, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Henderson Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Don Northway officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet.
Mr. Walthall was born in Cleburne and lived most of his life in Coleman. He attended school in Coleman. He married Inez Parker in 1929 in Coleman and also lived in Burnet and Kerrville. He worked as a heavy equipment operator in construction until retiring. He was a Baptist and was the widower of Zella Vaughn Walthall, whom he married in 1944 in San Angelo.
Survivors include one son, John Walthall of Coleman; a companion, Virgie Baugh of Coleman; two stepdaughters, Billie Mathis of San Antonio and Zella Brown of Austin; three grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jan Gazaway
BROWNWOOD -- Jan Gazaway, 82, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Coggin Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Steve McMeans officiating. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Gaines County Cemetery in Seminole, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gazaway was born in Athens, Texas, and was a homemaker. She lived in Las Vegas, N.M., Lubbock and Seminole before moving to Brownwood in 1987. She was a member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church and was the widow of J.B. Gazaway, whom she married in 1934 in Alamogordo, N.M.
Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Harris of Brownwood; two sons, Jerry Gazaway of Brownwood and Tom Gazaway of San Diego; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Tommye Loraine Harlan
MUNDAY -- Tommye Loraine Harlan, 70, died Friday in a Seymour hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Goree Cemetery with Kent Trainham officiating, directed by McCauley-Smith Funeral Home.
Ms. Harlan was born in Knox County and worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Goree. She attended Methodist Hospital Nursing School in Lubbock. She worked as a college dormitory mother in Lubbock from 1969-73. She returned to Munday and worked as a licensed vocational nurse for the Seymour Hospital Authority.
Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Hamilton of Huntington Beach, Calif.; her mother, Ola Coffman of Munday; and one grandchild.

Amber Toliver Buchanan
BROWNWOOD -- Amber Toliver Buchanan, 88, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Heartland Funeral Home Chapel in Early with Dr. Ron Cook officiating. Burial will be private.
Mrs. Buchanan was born in Okay, Texas, and married Greene H. Buchanan in 1929 in Lometa. She worked in sales and was a member of Garden Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Women's Club in Bryan and First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; one daughter, Helen Louise Crook of Learey; one brother, Coke Toliver of Brownfield; three sisters, Merle Sedberry of Waco, and Ouita Grierson and Nell Walker, both of Brownwood; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to American Diabetes Association.

Frederick Graham Henry
Frederick Graham Henry, a longtime resident of Abilene, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 9, at Hendrick Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy 277 South with Rev. Archie Echols and Rev. Kathryn Boren officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Henry was born Oct. 12, 1913, in Crowder, Okla., and has lived in Abilene for over 43 years. He began his banking career in Sapulpa, Okla. He served for four years and attained the rank of Captain in the U.S. Army during World War II, after which he moved to Dallas in 1946. He worked for Oak Lawn National Bank in Dallas with Walter F. Johnson before joining him at First National Bank of Abilene in 1955. He retired from First National Bank in 1982 as Senior Vice-President and Director and became an Advisory Director at that time. He retired as Director Emeritus in February, 1990. In 1991, he was recognized for 50 years of service, leadership and excellence in banking by the Texas Bankers Association.
Civic activities include serving as former President of the Downtown Lions Club, former President of the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, and past treasurer of the Salvation Army. He was also involved with the Red Cross, The West Central Texas Oil and Gas Association, the West Texas Chamber of Commerce and he was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Lena Mae Henry.
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Wally Reed of Dallas; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Walter F. Johnson, Kenneth T. Murphy, Scott Dueser, Dr. Floyd Taylor, E.N. Mitchell and Harry Tredennick.

Donald G. McAdams
Funeral Services for Donald G. McAdams, 68, of Colorado City, formerlyof Big Spring, will be at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 12, 1999, at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Rosewood Chapel with Jake Chaney, Hospice Chaplain, officiating. Interment will follow at the Loraine Cemetery in Loraine, Texas.
Mr. McAdams died Saturday, January 9, 1999 at his home following a lenghtly illness.
He was born on April 22, 1930 in Big Spring. He graduated from Big Spring High School and attended Howard College prior to enlisting in the U. S. Navy in 1951. He served four years in the U. S. Navy as a Petty Officer 3rd Class before returning to Big Spring to work for his father, Garner McAdams in the oil field construction business. He later was employed for serveral years for Cosden Oil & Refinery. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed fishing. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge #3188 and the First United Methodist Church of Big Spring.
He is survived by his wife, Margie McAdams, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Lori McAdams, of Big Spring; six step-children and spouses, Robert and Suke Caswell, of Georgia, Bimbo and Pam Caswell, of Roby, John and Carrie Tillis and Steve and Janie Moore, all of Colorado City, Tommy and Lona Hickson, of Sweetwater, Mark and Rebecca Gonzales of Mississippi; one grand-daughter, Mickie McAdams, of Lubbock, one grandson, Todd McAdams who is serving in the U.S. Navy, two step grandsons including Derek & Casey Cowley of Big Spring; 15 step-grandchildren and two great step-grandsons. He is also survived by several cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of friends including Mary June Fernandez. He was preceded in death by one son, Ricky D. McAdams in 1973 and his parents, Garner and Olline McAdams.
Arrangements will be under direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
