Frances Ann Crenshaw Bates
COLEMAN - Frances Ann Crenshaw Bates, 61, of Dallas and formerly of Coleman County, died Saturday in Dallas.
Services will be at 2 p.m Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Silver Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Bates was born in Coleman County and was a Baptist. She married Jimmie Bates in 1955 in Coleman.
Survivors include her husband, of Dallas; two daughters, Juanita Shaw of DeSoto and Patricia Ashmore of Mesquite; and three grandchildren.

Manfred 'Sarge' Noster
MERKEL - Manfred A. "Sarge" Noster, 81, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel with Larry Gill and Mark Whitmire officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
Mr. Noster was born in Yorktown, where he graduated from high school. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of Merkel Church of Christ for 44 years. He was a self-employed carpenter and worked for Taylor Electric Co-Op for 12 years before retiring. He married Dorothy Lee Derington in 1943 in Abilene.
Survivors include his wife, of Merkel; two daughters, Marylee Wade of Merkel and Roseann Youngblood of Pampa; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Alma Bryan Simpson
BALLINGER - Alma Bryan Simpson, 89, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Ninth Street Church of Christ with Max Pratt officiating. Burial will be in Norton Cemetery, directed by Rains-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Simpson was born in the Mann community and was employed by several early businessmen. She was the first secretary of Namikango Mission Work and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She married Alton Bryan in 1926 in Norton; he preceded her in death. She married Downey Simpson in 1957; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one sister, Bertha Hambright of Ballinger; one son, Alton Bryan of Ballinger; one daughter, Neita Forgey of Ballinger; one stepson, Weldon Simpson of Weatherford; four stepdaughters, Nettie Jean Williams and Betty Jo Ohlen, both of Crowley, Doris Minshew of Perrin and Jean Simpson of Houston; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and 10 stepgrandchildren.

Homer Lee Goswick
Homer Lee Goswick, 74, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Jack Sharp officiating. Burial will be in Ranger City Cemetery in Ranger.
Mr. Goswick was born in Graham and lived in Ranger and Coahoma for many years. He worked in the oil fields of West Texas as a truck driver, retiring several years ago. He moved to Abilene in 1947. He married Lavaun Campbell in 1945 in Pecos.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Charles Lee Goswick and Carl Thomas Goswick, both of Abilene; two sisters, Lottie Ainsworth of Brownwood and Evelyn Hall of California; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

John Swanson
John B. Swanson, 86, of Merkel and formerly of Abilene, died Monday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Elmwood Memorial Park with Jimmy Griffith officiating, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.
Mr. Swanson was born in Doans and grew up in Fargo, moving to Abilene from Winters in 1942. He worked for Walls Industries and the Merkel Independent School District as a bus driver. He was a member of South Side Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Merkel. He married Ada Laura Sanders in 1930 in Vernon.
Survivors include two sons, Richard Swanson of Merkel and Eddie Swanson Sr. of Abilene; one daughter, Jo Ellen Caffey of Abilene; one sister, Oleta Eatmon of Houston; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Alice Elizabeth 'Beth' Hopkins
Alice Elizabeth "Beth" Hopkins, 56, died Friday at a Tomball hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Iberis Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Patterson officiating, assisted by Mike Roberts, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Hopkins was born in Cuthbert County, Ga., and moved to Texas as in infant. She grew up in the Dallas area and lived in the Houston area for a number of years. She graduated from North Harris County College with a degree in psychology and was director of several child care facilities. She was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society and a member of Southwest Baptist Church in Tomball. She married Robert L. Hopkins in 1963.
Survivors include her husband, of the home; one daughter, Terri Rene Hopkins of Bryan; four sisters, her mother and one granddaughter.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
The family will be at 5201 Hunters Circle.

Clarence Bell Hawkins Jr.
Clarence Bell Hawkins Jr., 71, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with the Rev. Herbert Wood officiating. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery.
Mr. Hawkins was born in Abilene and grew up in Abilene and Ardmore, Okla. He was an Army and Navy veteran of World War II.
Survivors include one son, Steve Hawkins of Abilene; one daughter, Edna Kay Hawkins of Oklahoma; three brothers, Virgil Hawkins, Ray Hawkins and Lonnie Hawkins, all of Abilene; one sister, Gladys Wainscoat of Abilene; two grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at 1125 Hickory.

Mable Ruth Trailor, 47, of Abilene died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Moses C. Hall III officiating, assisted by Moses C. Hall Jr. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Miss Trailor was born in Lamesa and moved to Abilene from Lovington, N.M.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Moses (Earlene) Hall of Abilene.

Dale Evans
Dale Evans, 30, of Abilene died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. Jack Hardy officiating. Burial will be in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories.
Mr. Evans was born in Bishop, Calif., and moved to Abilene from California in June. He was employed by Wal-Mart and was a Protestant. He married Kori Brown in 1997 in Las Vegas, Nev.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Tommy Evans and Daniel Evans, both of Abilene; two daughters, Candace Evans and Kristian Evans, both of Abilene; his mother, Barbara Evans of Dinuba, Calif.; three brothers, Danny Evans of Ardmore, Okla., Dickie Evans of Tyler and Ray Evans of Dinuba; one sister, Eileen Cotton of Reedley, Calif.; a grandmother, Birtie Greenwood of Dinuba; and two nephews.
