O.C. Stice
O.C. Stice, 82, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Revs. Archie Echols and Kathryn Boren, and Dr. David Hamblin officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Stice was born in Sherman and married Mary Nixon in 1947. He worked as an automobile mechanic. He then was employed by Celotex Corp. in Hamlin for 30 years until retiring in 1980. He moved to Abilene in 1980 from Hamlin and active in the Abilene Weatherization Program. He was a member of Gideon International and the Propheteers Sunday School Class at St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one son, Ronnie Stice of Abilene; one brother, Clifford M. Stice of Kerrville; and two nephews and two nieces.

Pedro Marquez Pena
WINTERS - Pedro Marquez Pena, 82, died Thursday in an Abilene hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today in Mount Carmel Catholic Church with the Rev. Sam Homsey officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mr. Pena was born in Del Rio and lived in Ozona most of his life. He worked as a laborer and married Maria Fuentes in 1966 in Del Rio. He moved to Winters about 10 years ago and was a member of Mount Carmel Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Winters; four sons, Diego Pena of Ozona, and Jose Pena, Jesse Pena and Arturo Pena, all of San Jose, Calif.; three daughters, Cecilia Cruz and Bernice Marron, both of San Jose, Calif., and Mary Helen Rodriguez of Abilene; one stepson, Rojelio Garcia of San Antonio; two brothers, Jesus Martinez and Jose Martinez, both of Ozona; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Jose Agapito Tello
BAIRD - Jose Agapito Tello, 39, died Saturday in Throckmorton County from injuries received in an automobile accident.
Services will be in Guanajuato, Mexico, directed by Recardo Garcia Funerales of Guanajuato. Arrangements were made by Merriman-Archer Funeral Home of Throckmorton.
Mr. Tello was born in Atargea, GTO, Mexico, and moved to Baird several years ago. He worked as a woodcutter and was a Catholic.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Soledad Casas Tello of Mexico; one son, Fransisco Tello of Mexico; two daughters, Erika Tello and Rocio Tello, both of Mexico; his parents, Feliciano Tello and Antonia Tello, both of Mexico; and two brothers, Merced Tello of Mexico and Rafael Tello of Clyde.

Mary 'Weezie' Lane
EARLY - Mary E. "Weezie" Lane, 78, died Wednesday in a Brownwood hospital.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Brownwood with the Rev. R.D. Williams officiating.
Ms. Lane was born in Goldthwaite and attended school in Cross Plains. She graduated from North Texas State University in Denton and the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. She worked on the Openheimer Project in Los Alamos, N.M. during World War II and as a teacher and counselor in the Santa Fe school system for 30 years until retiring. She was a soloist with an orchestra in Los Alamos, N.M. before moving to Early in 1993. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include one sister, Jimmie Mayes of Brownwood; two nephews; and two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Kenneth Roger Lemons
BROWNWOOD - Kenneth Roger Lemons, 49, died Thursday in a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Cedar Point Cemetery, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mr. Lemons was born in Borger and lived in Brownwood most of his life. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and worked as a glazer in a glass shop.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy McAda of Brownwood, Patricia Barnes of Florida and Angel Lemons of Arlington; four brothers, Floyd Donald Frakes of West Burlington, Iowa, Ray Frakes of DeKalb, Stanley Frakes of Early and Richard Frakes of Arlington; three sisters, Sandra Estes of Bryan, Ruth Ann Gandy of Centralia, Mo., and Linda Chasteen of Wills Point; and six grandchildren.

Lessie Blanks
Lessie (Mrs. Charlie) Blanks, 87, who with her husband, owned and operated the Charlie Blanks Nite Club in Abilene, died Saturday in Abilene.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with Dr. Elbert G. Peak and the Rev. Michael R. Schirle officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Blanks was born in Matlie in Stonewall County and lived in the Abilene area most of her life. She attended school in Abilene.
She married Charlie Blanks in 1931 in Abilene and he preceded her in death.
Her husband, in 1932, sold his watch and an old ambulance he owned to make the down payment on the club's property which was then on the old Potosi Road. The club, which opened in 1937, hosted such singers as Fats Domino and Bob Wills.
"I love the club, it means a lot to me," she said in an October 21, 1979 Abilene Reporter-News story after the building was damaged by fire. "We dug the foundation. Me and Charlie and another couple."
The Blanks operated the club for 19 years.
After her husband's death in 1956, she worked at The Spot, a fast food service for students at South Junior High, now Jefferson Middle School.
She was a member of Heritage Baptist Church, formerly Highland Park Baptist Church, and, for many years, donated and arranged flowers at the church.
Survivors include two daughters, Marie Alexander and La Donna McGee, both of Abilene; one son, Charles Hollis Blanks of Abilene; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of the Big Country, 3113 Oldham Lane, Abilene 79602; and Heritage Baptist Church, 3050 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene 79605.
Visitation will be from 3-5 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Vernon Forrest Ivy
HASKELL -- Vernon Forrest Ivy, 85, employed by Merchants Motor Lines for about 40 years until retiring, died Friday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Haskell Church of Christ with Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Ivy was born in Nevada, Texas, and moved to Haskell County in 1921. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was the widower of Haven Marie Hall Ivy, whom he married in 1930 in Haskell.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith Anne Ivy Hall of Abilene; two brothers, Henry Ivy of Crane and Leon Ivy of Stamford; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

John Wayne 'Buddy' Jackson
BRECKENRIDGE -- John Wayne "Buddy" Jackson, 75, owner of Quality Body Shop for many years, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in New Life Restoration Church with Buddy Fincher and the Revs. Cory Wise and Johnny Griffith officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Morehart Mortuary.
Mr. Jackson was born in Floydada and graduated from Breckenridge High School. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was on Wake Island when it was bombed by the Japanese. He married Kate Gray in 1946 in Eastland and worked as a civil service mechanic designing aircraft engines. He was a former deputy sheriff and private investigator and was a rancher. He formerly was a member of the Lions Club, a Boy Scout leader and a deacon at Bethany Baptist Church. He was a deacon at New Life Restoration Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Breckenridge; two daughters, Mary Lynn Gaeta of Eastland and Connie Marceille Thornton of Merkel; one son, Randall Wayne Jackson of Breckenridge; two sisters, Marie Hamm and Faynell Pruitt, both of Abilene; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or New Life Restoration Church and left at the funeral home.
