Ernest Wayne Harris
COLEMAN -- Ernest Wayne Harris, 72, of Santa Anna and formerly of Midland, died Saturday at his home.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with Delos Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Burkett Cemetery, directed by Stevens Funeral Home.
Mr. Harris was born in Burkett, where he grew up and graduated from high school. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a master's degree and attended the University of Texas. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and taught school at Talpa for two years before moving to Midland in 1953. He was an educator and administrator with the Midland Independent School District. He moved to Santa Anna in 1994 and was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Vivian Riddle in 1950 in Dale.
Survivors include his wife, of Santa Anna; one daughter, Debra Jane Schreiber of New Braunfels; one son, William Wayne Harris of Bangs; one brother, Robert Harris of Coleman; and four grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to VNA Hospice, 212 Brown, Brownwood 76801; or to the donor's favority charity.

Louise Gotcher
WINTERS -- Louise P. Gotcher, 87, of Bridge City died Saturday at a Beaumont hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Tuscola Cemetery with the Rev. Glenn Shoemake officiating, directed by Winters Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gotcher was born in Belton and lived in Bradshaw and Tuscola most of her life. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was the widow of Irvin Gotcher.
Survivors include two sons, Jack Gotcher of Bridge City and Ray Gotcher of Irving; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Willie Jo Farrar
COMANCHE -- Willie Jo Farrar, 74, died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Scott Maize and Charlie Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Farrar was born in Lamkin and was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school, was a nursery worker for more than 30 years and served on the church committee for several years. She married William Farrar in 1941.
Survivors include her husband, of Comanche; two sons, Thomas Joe Farrar and Timothy Edward Farrar, both of Comanche; two sisters, Capitola Robertson Bratton and Dorothy Robertson Belyeu; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Mount Pleasant Baptist Church Building Fund; or the Oakwood Cemetery Association.
Lunch for the family will be at 12:30 p.m. today at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.

Ellis Sumerlin
SNYDER -- Ellis Sumerlin, 92, died Sunday at a local hospital after a lengthy illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Larry White officiating. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Roby Cemetery in Roby, directed by Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Sumerlin was born in Fisher County and moved to Snyder from Roby in 1978. He was a retired farmer-rancher and a member of Fisher County Sheriff's Posse, Fisher County Polo Team and Fisher County Rodeo Association. He married Willie Gruben in 1931 in Clovis, N.M.
Survivors include his wife, of Snyder; four daughters, Peggy Koonsman and Becky Rasbury, both of Snyder, Jackie Rowling of Corpus Christi and Patsy Stuart of Roby; seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eva Derrick
BROWNWOOD -- Eva Derrick, 72, of Mullin died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Oakview Cemetery in Mullin with the Rev. Lee "Tut" Jones officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.
Mrs. Derrick was born in Middlesex, N.J., and lived in Kermit before moving to Mullin in 1984. She was a member of Zione Lutheran Church in Kermit and of Kermit Garden Club. She was a retired registered nurse. She married Dale Derrick in 1946 in Riverside, N.J.
Survivors include her husband, of Mullin; two daughters, Sandy Porter of Mullin and Gail Miller of Kermit; one son, Charles Derrick of Brownwood; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. today.

Lawrence 'Punk' Bruner
BROWNWOOD -- Lawrence "Punk" Bruner, 81, of Lake Brownwood died Saturday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Scotty Ratliff officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Bruner was born in Temple and had lived in Brownwood since 1956. He graduated from Sweetwater High School and was retired from Santa Fe Railroad, working there 40 years. He was a member of United Transportation Union and was a Methodist. He married Billie Jean Bruner in 1947 in Brownwood; she preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son, Wayne Graves of Early; two daughters, Jim Ann Ratliff of Early and Virginia Grace Reese of Japan; two brothers, Cecil Bruner of Sweetwater and Marvin Grubbs of Fort Worth; one sister, Ina Bell England of Comstock; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today.

Rev. James Boswell
The Rev. James P. Boswell, 79, died Monday at a local hospital.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Aldersgate United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clark Williams officiating, assisted by the Rev. Cletus Beights, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange. The body was donated to Texas Tech University for medical science.
Rev. Boswell was born and grew up in Asher, Okla., and graduated from McMurry University and Southern Methodist University Perkins School of Theology. He was a Methodist minister for more than 35 years, serving Clyde circuit, Sylvester, Garden City, Hamlin, Albany-Moran and several other churches in the West Texas-South Plains area. He has been minister at Fairmont United Methodist and associate pastor and associate member of Aldersgate United Methodist. He retired in 1984. He was a member of Northwest Texas Conference, Abilene Writers Guild and Plainview Masonic Lodge. He was a veteran of World War II. He married Marie Byerley in 1940 in Big Spring.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Eugene Boswell of Dallas and Terry Clark Boswell of Trier, Germany; two daughters, Mary Beth Vinyard of Dallas and Tami Ruth Rohn of Denton; two brothers, Paul Boswell of Clifton and Fred Boswell of Alabama; one sister, Betty Boswell of Kansas; and six grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church Building Repair Fund, Meals on Wheels or the Heart Fund.

Edna Marie Baker
Edna Marie Baker, 51, of Abilene died Friday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in City Cemetery with the Rev. Jerry Paulding officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Ms. Baker was born in Boise, Idaho, and lived most of her life in the Abilene and Sweetwater area.
Survivors include two sons, Billy Pearson of Lancaster and Jerry Pearson of Abilene.

Lester Peterson
Lester L. Peterson, 98, a resident of the Abilene-Tuscola area for 81 years, died Sunday at an Amarillo hospital.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith, 5701 Hwy. 277 South, with the Rev. T.C. Melton officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Peterson was born in Comanche County and lived in the Abilene-Tuscola area until moving to Amarillo in 1982. He was a farmer and a member of First Baptist Church of Tuscola. He was the widower of Valvee Peterson.
Survivors include two sons, Burl Peterson of Amarillo and Delbert Peterson of Lubbock; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
