Aimee Michelle Meek
Aimee Michelle Meek, 19, died Sunday at a local hospital from injuries received from an automobile accident.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home with Rev. Dan Burrows officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Ms. Meek was born in Abilene and was a 1998 graduate of Abilene High School. She was employed at Blue Cross Blue Shield in Abilene. Ms. Meek was a Methodist.
Survivors include her parents, Glen and Debbie Meek of Abilene; a sister, Shauna Meek of Abilene; grandparents, James and Paula Leddy of Abilene and Charlie and Ruth Jones of New Mexico; her fiancee, Ian Steelman of Abilene; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

EmmaLee Cargill
EmmaLee A. Cargill, 82, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Allen-Korzenewski Chapel with Rev. David Page officiating under the direction of the Allen-Korzenewski Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cargill was born in Coleman County to J.F. Bleeker and Minnie Walters Bleeker. She lived in Abilene for 70 years.
Mrs. Cargill was a member of Eastside Baptist in Haskell and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She was a retired nurse and homemaker, and she had worked in many Abilene nursing homes. She was married to Marvin E. Cargill, who died in 1974.
Survivors include four sons, Ronnie R. Martin of Abilene, Dr. Donn Martin of Arlington, Hubert L. Martin of Snyder, Jack R. Martin of Amarillo; one step-son, Joe Martin of Arizona; four daughters, Shirlene D. Angel Haley of Anson, Betty Weaver of Abilene, Dorothy Elrod of Abilene and Wanda Jean Hilgreen of Eula; four sisters, Opal McEachern of Abilene, Jessie Cain of Abilene, Doyce Owen of Fort Worth and Nell Bleeker of Muleshoe; 28 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Donations may be made to the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene, Texas 79605.

Lillian Reynolds
Lillian Neva Hopkins Reynolds, 75, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Downing Cemetery. Burial will take place in the Downing Cemetery.
Mrs. Reynolds was born in Bennington, Okla., and raised in the Funston community in Jones County, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Reynolds. Survivors include one brother, Jake Wiler of Benicia, Calif.; four sisters, Gwen Belyeu of De Leon, Joan Wiler of Abilene, Violet Wiggins of Concord, Calif., and Theola Williams of Vallejo, Calif.

Phrona McClendon
Phrona McClendon, 96, of Lubbock, died Saturday in Abilene.
Services will be held in St. John's United Methodist Church at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Ted W. Dotts and Dr. Robert Monk officiating. Interment will be in Resthaven of Lubbock under the direction of Rix Funeral Directors.
Mrs. McClendon was born in Ben Arnold, in Milam County. She was a graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron and attended Texas Woman's University.
After a brief career as a high school teacher, she married J.G. McClendon in Milam County on Dec. 25, 1922. He died in 1974.
Mrs. McClendon lived in Malvern, Ark., and in Vernon, Elgin, Atlanta, Amarillo and Wichita Falls, before moving to Lubbock in 1945. She was active in the Home Demonstration Club, Methodist Hospital Auxiliary and St. John's United Methodist Church. She moved to Abilene in 1990 and was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Don McClendon, of Lubbock; a daughter, Nancy Phillips, of Abilene; a sister, Sinia Harris of Cameron; four grandchildren, Donny McClendon of Lubbock, Randy McClendon of Austin, Julie Ure of Arlington and Paige McClendon of Cleburne; and two great-grandchildren, Rani McClendon of Galveston and Grant McClendon of Austin.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday. Memorials may be made to the Sears Methodist Center, 3202 S. Willis, Abilene, Texas, 79605.

Charles W. 'Chuck' Polen
Charles W. "Chuck" Polen, 64, died Saturday morning in a local hospital after a brief illness.
Services are pending with the Elmood Funeral Home in Abilene.
Mr. Polen was born in 1934. He is formally from Fairfield, Calif.
His survivors include his wife, Ruth Polen of Abilene; a son, Charles M. Polen of Vacaville, Calif.; two daughters, Robin Burgess of Hinton, W. Va., and Dana Polen of Abilene; a brother, Robert Polen of Canton, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Ethel Hightower
COMANCHE -- Ethel Hightower, 89, died Saturday, in a local hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Hall and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Longoria officiating. Interment will follow in the Comanche Gardens of Memory.
Mrs. Hightower was born in Warren, Texas. Her parents were Jim and Laura Frances Wallace Holmes. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eastside Baptist Church in Comanche.
Mrs. Hightower is survived by her husband, Henry, of Comanche; one daughter, Darlene Causey of Comanche; two sons, Doyle Hightower of Comanche and Jerry Hightower of Brownwood; one brother, Fred Holmes of Warren; grandchildren, Lisa and Michael Head, Lannie and Russell Fairchild, Laura and Cassey Jones, Jan and Bart Craig, and Jim and Jennifer Hightower; one great-grandchild, Victoria Fairchild, and one step-great-grandchild, Stephanie Head.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of the Eastside Baptist Church in Comanche.

Jose Maria Salazar
Jose Maria Salazar, 85, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Prayer services will be held Monday evening at 7 p.m. at Kiker-Seale Chapel. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Templo Palabrtas de Vida Church with Rev. Guadalupe Salazar officiating. Burial will follow in the Mitchell County Cemetery under the direction of the Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mr. Salazar was born and raised in Pleasanton, Texas, where he was a farmer. He married Eulalia Ramos in Pleasanton in 1934. The couple and their family moved to Colorado City in 1960 where he continued to work as a farmer. He was a member of Templo Palabras de Vica Church.
Survivors include four sons, Rev. Guadalupe Salazar, Carlos Salazar and Tony Salazar, all of Colorado City, and Jose Salazar, Jr., of Loraine; four daughters, Adelita Sosa, Janie Arguijo, Anita Limones and Sofia Sosa, all of Colorado City; four brothers, Manuel Salazar of Lubbock, Pete and Domingo Salazar of Leming, Texas, and Jusus Salazar of Chicago, Ill.; four sisters, Isabel Ferguson of Stanton, Texas, Connie Valdez of Abilene, Adela Rodriguez of Eldorado, Texas, and Emilia Delgado of San Antonio; 29 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Barbara Hopper
BELTON -- Barbara Hopper, 60, died Sunday at her home in Belton.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in North's Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of North's Funeral Home with Rev. James Brigham officiating.
Mrs. Hopper was raised in Abilene. She married Herbert Hopper on April 29, 1966, in Abilene. She moved to Kileen in 1970 and to Belton Lake in 1979. She was a homemaker and a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Debra Rupe and Donna Wade, both of Temple; one step-daughter, Sherrie Nordquest of Longview, Wash.; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Miller of Abilene; one sister, Linda Branigan of Memphis, Texas; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Eleanor Jane Burger
GEORGETOWN -- Eleanor Jane Burger, 88, formerly of Abilene, died Thursday at her home.
A memorial mass was offered at 11:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Helen's Catholic Church in Georgetown. Inurnment followed in the Elmwood Cemetery in Abilene.
Mrs. Burger was a long-time resident of Abilene. She was a nurse for 45 years, working at both St. Ann Hospital and and Hendrick Medical Center.
Survivors include her daughter, Jane Mazur of Georgetown and a grandchild, Stephanie McGraw of Austin.
