SMSgt. (ret) Lyle McBurney
Lyle E. McBurney, 53, of Abilene died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Christian Church with the Rev. James R. Zug officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elmwood Funeral Home, 5750 Hwy. 277 South.
Mr. McBurney was born in Kingman, Kan., and moved to Abilene in 1984 from Bossier City, La. He was First Sergeant of the 96th CES Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base when he retired in 1991 after 28 years in the Air Force. He was a member of Dyess Golf Association and First Christian Church. He married Jolene Kilpatrick in 1967 in Ballinger.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; two sons, Paul McBurney and James McBurney, both of Abilene; one daughter, Jodi Ward of Abilene; one brother, Stanley Baker of Kingman, Kan.; two sisters, Fran Woodson of Kingman, Kan., and Paula Lewandowski of Ashaway, R.I.; and eight grandchildren.

Marvin Clark
Marvin Clark, 77, of Abilene died Saturday at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in City Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Clark was born in Ashland, Ky., and attended Ashland public schools. He was a volunteer foster grandparent in Abilene.
Survivors include one sister, Clyta Mae Malone of Ashland; and three brothers, Eugene Clark and Jerry Clark, both of Ashland, and Paul L. Clark of Southfield, Mich.

S.C. 'Buddy' Sharp
SNYDER -- S.C. "Buddy" Sharp, 83, a longtime resident of Borden County and Gail, died Monday at a Lubbock hospital after a brief illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bell-Cypert-Seale Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Hillside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Sharp was born in Swartner (Williamson County) and lived in Florence before moving to the area in 1943. He was a retired farmer and construction worker and worked for Dewey Everett Soil Conservation Service for 34 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Gail. He married Margaret Hallmark in 1936 in Killeen.
Survivors include his wife, of Gail; three daughters, Helen Kay Warden of Waverly, Beverly Ann Beatty of Abilene and Doris Renee Hobson of Lamesa; three sons, Hollie Leon Sharp of Granbury and Ross David Sharp and Toby Kelton Sharp, both of Gail; one sister, Bernice Henderson of Snyder; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home from 4-6 p.m. today.

Bertie Ellen Freeman
LUBBOCK -- Bertie Ellen Freeman, 100, died Sunday.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Faith in Abilene with the Rev. David Cason officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Sanders Funeral Home.
Mrs. Freeman was born in Lexington, Ky., and lived in Abilene from 1940-1989. She then moved to Andrews and to Lubbock in September. She was a member of University Baptist Church in Abilene and of Order of the Eastern Star. She married Cyrus Freeman Sr. in 1913 in Pioneer; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, C.W. Freeman Jr. of Tulia and Don Freeman of Lubbock; two daughters, Eva Terry of Grand Prairie and Erlene Bufkin of Andrews; one sister, Florris Hardin of Eastland; one brother, Hancel McCord of Dallas; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Sanders Funeral Home from 5-6 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to the Building Fund of First Baptist Church, Lubbock; or to the American Cancer Society.

Winnie Cole
BROWNWOOD -- Winnie Cole, 81, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Jerry Galloway and Jerry McCoy officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cole was born in Comanche County and had lived in Brownwood for 61 years. She was a homemaker and a member of Early United Methodist Church. She married Cecil Cole in 1935 in Comanche; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three sons, Bill Cole of Weatherford and Tommy Cole and Cecil Cole, both of Brownwood; one brother, Tom Wilson of Comanche; three sisters, Erma Nelson of Brownwood, Otalla Cox of Dublin and Martha Payne of Comanche; 15 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Minnie Lee Dean
COLORADO CITY -- Minnie Lee Dean, 95, died Sunday at her home.
Services were Monday at Kiker-Seale Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sammy Elliott officiating. Burial was in Westbrook Cemetery.
Mrs. Dean was born in Detroit, Tex., and lived in Colorado City all her life. She was a homemaker. She married E.E. Dean in 1917 in Oklahoma.
Survivors include two sisters, Pearl Quinn and Zelma Clow, both of Paris, Tex.; one brother, James Kelley of Colorado City; three granddaughters, nine great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Richard Lee 'Dick' Henning
COLEMAN -- Richard Lee "Dick" Henning, 69, died Friday at a local hospital.
The body was cremated. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Walker Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Robinett officiating.
Mr. Henning was born in Miamiburg, Ohio, and had lived in Coleman since 1993. He was a retired laborer, a Navy veteran of World War II and a Baptist.
Survivors include four sisters, Beverly Math of Coleman, Charlotte Kay Speelman of Portland, Ore., Peggy Joe Henning of Las Vegas, Nev., and Cynthia Lou Henning of Santee, Calif.; and one brother, Todd Henning of Las Vegas.

Daisy May Higgins
COLORADO CITY -- Daisy May Higgins, 88, died Saturday at a local nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Dibble Cemetery in Dibble, Okla., with Gary Dennis officiating, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Higgins was born in Wheeler and had lived in Colorado City since 1973. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ. She married James Fred Higgins in 1926 in Chickasha, Okla.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Alta Britton of Colorado City; three sisters, Alma Cox of Castle Rock, Wash., Bonnie Spivey of Indio, Calif., and Betty Armstrong of Sulpher, Okla.; two grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

Nettie Cherry
COLORADO CITY -- Nettie Cherry, 95, died Sunday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Christian Temple Church with V.W. "Matt" Matlock officiating. Burial will be in Dorn Cemetery, directed by Kiker-Seale Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cherry was born in Mount Pleasant and moved to Colorado City in the early 1920s. She was a cook and a member of Christian Temple Church. She married Marvin Cherry in 1926 in Mitchell County; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Mary Delois Lelek, Edith Louise Matlock and Bessie Marcilene Hubbard, all of Colorado City, and Nellie Elizabeth Matlock of Loraine; one sister, Annie Burrow of Austin; 18 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren and 26 great-great-grandchildren.
