Morris Varnadore
ROBERT LEE -- Morris G. Varnadore, 76, of Houston died Saturday.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Robert Lee with H.C. Varnadore III officiating, directed by Shaffer Funeral Home.
Mr. Varnadore was born in Robert Lee and retired in 1983 after operating Varnadore Pipe and Steel for several years. Before that he was a representative for Southwestern Pipe in Midland and Houston and a Navy veteran of World War II. He formed and operated Varnadore Oil Company in Robert Lee.
Survivors include the mother of his children, Etta Dee Wilson Varnadore of San Angelo; two sons, DeWayne Varnadore of Tyler and David Varnadore of Houston; one daughter, D'Ann Arnold of Houston; two brothers, H.C. Varnadore of Fort Smith, Ark., and J. Cue Varnadore of Seabrook; one sister, Lynn Doris Smith of Robert Lee; seven grandchildren and a host of other relatives.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to the donor's favorite charity.

Sandra Sisk
BROWNWOOD -- Sandra Sisk, 55, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Greenleaf Cemetery with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sisk was born in Waco and had lived in Brownwood for 30 years. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Charles Andrew Sisk of Sweetwater and Patrick Lee Pearson of Brownwood; two sisters, Anna Jo Manness of Houston and Betty Pat Humphries of Brownwood.

Mary Katherine 'Kathy' Smith
BRECKENRIDGE -- Mary Katherine "Kathy" Smith, 45, formerly of Breckenridge, died Sunday at her home in Sylvester.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morehart Mortuary funeral chapel with the Rev. Lloyd Dean Messick officiating, assisted by the Rev. Cecil Harper. Burial will be in Hart Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born and attended school in Breckenridge and graduated from Breckenridge High School in 1971. She graduated from Tarleton State University in 1974 with a degree in secondary education and had lived in Sylvester since 1992. She was a substitute teacher in Hamlin and Roby. She married Johnny Lee Smith in 1988 in McCaulley.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, T.J. Flanagan of Cherry Point, N.C., and Tony Flanagan of Sylvester; one daughter, Brenda Flanagan of Sweetwater; her mother, Oneta Strong of Breckenridge; one brother, Rick Strong of Breckenridge; one granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials for Meals on Wheels may be left at the mortuary.

Curtis Hisey
Curtis H. Hisey died Tuesday at his home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with Dr. Jeff Reid officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Hisey was born in Haskell and grew up in Spur. He lived in Abilene for many years and served with the 36th Division in Europe during World War II. Hemarried Lee Robinson in 1951 in Abilene. He worked as a driller for Hack Drilling for several years and was employed by Batjer and Associates for 15 years. He had been a self-employed plumber since 1987 and was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, of Abilene; one daughter, Lisa Love of Abilene; two sons, Randy Hisey of San Angelo and Keith Hisey of Fort Worth; one brother, R.V. Hisey of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Helen Liston and Mildred Brown, both of Lubbock; and five grandchildren.
The family will be at 825 Briarwood.
Visitation will be from 6-7:30 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Juanita Bell Joiner
Juanita Bell Joiner, 90, of Loveland, Colo., and formerly of Tye, died Sunday in Loveland.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Tye United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Perkins officiating. Burial will be in Tye Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Joiner was born in Tye and taught school in southeastern New Mexico for 16 years. She married Emery Weir Joiner in 1946 in Caps and was a longtime Tye resident. She taught school for 17 years in Tye. She and her husband delivered for Meals on Wheels in Abilene for 17 years and she played the organ for many years at Tye United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Loveland, Colo.; two daughters, Carol Lynn Wood of Loveland, Colo., and Mary Elaine Williamson of Big Spring; one sister, Velna Peery of Arcadia, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Jackie Lee Phillips
Jackie Lee Phillips, 50, died Sunday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Valley View Baptist Church with the Rev. Andrew Penns officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mr. Phillips was born in Haskell and graduated from Carter G. Woodson High School in Abilene.
Survivors include a longtime companion, Catherine Monroe of Abilene; two daughters, Janelle Norman of Abilene and Jacqueline Blanco of Austin; two sons, Jackie Norman and Riggis Blanco, both of Abilene; his mother and stepfather, Lillie and Edward Hunter of Abilene; one sister, Loretta Leonard of Abilene; two brothers, John Phillips Jr. of Abilene and Ivory Phillips of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.

Ruby Michaelis Bynum
Ruby Michaelis Bynum, 89, seamstress for 23 years until retiring in 1970, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Jerry Paulding officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Bynum was born in Ellis County and moved to Abilene in 1919. She graduated from Abilene High School and attended Draughons Business College. She was a homemaker. She was a member of South Side Baptist Church and was the widow of Pat Michaelis and Dell Bynum.
Survivors include one son, Fred Michaelis of Austin; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to West Texas Rehabilitation Center, 4601 Hartford, Abilene 79605; or a favorite charity.

Todd Roberts Jr.
HERMISTON, Ore. -- Todd N. Roberts Jr., 65, brother of an Abilene resident, died Monday at his home.
The body was cremated. A memorial graveside service with Masonic rites will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Hermiston Cemetery. Arrangements were made by Burns Mortuary.
Mr. Roberts was born in Robert Lee and married his wife in 1951 in Anson. He served with the U.S. Navy in Korea and lived in Hermiston from 1979-84. He returned to Hermiston in 1990. He worked for Bechtel Power Corp. for 25 years until retiring in 1994 and was a farmer. He was a past master of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Shriners, Elks Lodge and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Janell Roberts of Hermiston; three daughters, Patricia J. Roberts of Las Vegas, Nev., Cynthia Surprenant of Scio, Ore., and Susan E. Thomas of Umatilla, Ore.; one brother, Charles L. Roberts of Abilene; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one niece and three nephews; and several cousins.

Edith Ann Wiebe Haynes
PARADISE -- Edith Ann Wiebe Haynes, 59, mother of an Abilene resident, died Sunday at her home after a 7-1/2-year battle with cancer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Paradise First Baptist Church with the Revs. Robert Owensby and Joe Motsenbocker officiating. Burial will be in Paradise Cemetery, directed by Hawkins Funeral Home of Bridgeport.
Mrs. Haynes was born in California and moved to Texas as a child. She graduated from Hawley High School in 1956 and attended Decatur Baptist College. She married Phil Haynes in 1957 and worked as a resource department aide in the Paradise school system for 20 years until retiring. She and her husband later started a Christian music ministry. She was a volunteer at Decatur Hospital until stopping due to ill health and was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Paradise; four children, Millissia Kuhlman of Carson, Wash., Phyllis Conn of Abilene, Joe Haynes of Arlington and Robert Haynes of Spring; her stepmother, Lois Wiebe of San Antonio; two brothers, James Wiebe of Euless and David Wiebe of Keller; two stepsisters, Jan Peace and Bobbie Boyce, both of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; and many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
