Grace (Etier) Cheves
NACOGDOCHES - Grace (Etier) Cheves, 88, died Monday at a local nursing home.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Cason Monk-Metcalf Funeral Directors Sunset Chapel with Dr. Allen Reed officiating. Burial will be in Clyde Cemetery in Clyde.
Mrs. Cheves was born in Oklahoma and was a homemaker and a Baptist. She was a member of Clyde Country Club, Clyde Study Club and the Texas Poetry Society. She had lived in Nacogdoches for six years. She was the widow of E.H. Cheves.
Survivors include two sons, Lee Cheves of Vernal, Utah, and J.D. Cheves of Oakland, Calif.; one daughter, Linda Nicklas of Nacogdoches; two sisters, Edith Baber of Randlett, Okla., and Mildred Etier of Wichita Falls; two grandchildren, a great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. today.

John Worth Wallace
HASKELL - John Worth Wallace, 86, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with Roy Herricks and Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Burial will be in Willow Cemetery, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Mr. Wallace was born in Campbell and moved to Haskell County in 1932. He was a farmer-stockman and worked in the shipyards in Port Arthur. He was a lifetime member of the Old Timer's Association and a rodeo contestant until 1980. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He married Jewell Lea Scott in 1941 in Beaumont.
Survivors include his wife, of Haskell; two sons, J.W. Wallace Jr. and Kenneth Ray Wallace, both of Haskell; three daughters, Opal Lea Furrh of Victoria, Lowell Anne Baker of Haskell and Juliejohn Knott of Germany; two brothers, Rafe Wallace of Lone Oak and Glenn Wallace of Campbell; two sisters, Opal Atkisson of California and Lena Mays of Greenville; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Odessa Gregg
EASTLAND - Odessa P. Gregg, 80, died Sunday at an Abilene hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bakker Funeral Home Chapel with Robert Gregg officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery.
Mrs. Gregg was born in Wylie and grew up in Eastland. She lived in Odessa for many years, where she retired from Phillips Petroleum. She returned to Eastland in 1971 and was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Gregg of Eastland; two sons, Kenneth Gregg of Potosi and Billy Gregg of Morton Valley; one daughter, Pam Loony of Albuquerque, N.M.; three brothers, Earl Tyler of Tuleta, Carl Wayne Tyler of Sweetwater and Floyd Tyler of Odessa; two sisters, Lela Milligan of Albuquerque and Ruby Hays of Waxahachie; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Tommy 'Joe' Roach
ALBANY - Tommy "Joe" Roach, 54, of Yoakum and formerly of Albany died Sunday at a Yoakum hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Tunnell officiating. Burial will be in Albany Cemetery, directed by Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.
Mr. Roach was born in Stamford and was employed by Pool Well Service. He was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Joseph Roach of Albany; six sisters, Faith Morgan, Mary Rogers and Mozelle Wilson, all of Albany, Carolyn Partin of Graham and Naomi Mitchell and Amelia Cougar, both of Breckenridge; one brother, Cornelius Alexander of Albany; and parents, Carline Craver of Breckenridge, Tommy Roach of Fort Worth and A.D. Alexander of Albany.

Yoko Norwood
Yoko Norwood, 66, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Bethel Temple Christian Center with the Rev. Frank Estes officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mrs. Norwood was born in Nagasaki, Japan, and graduated from high school in Shanghai, China. She moved to Abilene in 1973 from New Hampshire and worked as a private sitter. She was the widow of Richard E. Norwood, whom she married in 1956 in Japan.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Norwood and Jeffry Norwood, both of Abilene; one sister, Saiko Thomas of Abilene; and three grandchildren.

Elsie Pearl Couch McCarty
Elsie Pearl Couch McCarty, 84, widow of a former advertising executive and general manager at the Abilene Reporter-News, died Monday in an El Paso hospital.
She married D.F. McCarty in 1940 and he was employed by the Reporter-News in the 1960s and 70s.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Episcopal Church of the Heavenly Rest, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy McCarty of Dallas and Suzanne Stowe of Las Cruces, N.M.; two brothers, James Couch of Abilene and William Couch of Naples, Fla.; one sister, Caroline Couch Blair of Edwardsville, Ill.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Preston Lee Ayers
Preston Lee Ayers, 86, died Monday in a local nursing home.
The body was cremated and no services are planned. Arrangements were made by Starbuck Funeral Home of Merkel.
Mr. Ayers was born in Waller and worked as a shipping supervisor for an oilfield supply business. He was the widower of Mary Catherine Vallone Ayers.
Survivors include one son, Thomas Jefferson Ayers of Lampe, Mo.; two daughters, Sandy Spikes of Buffalo and Pat Thomas of Austin; one brother, Mac Ayers of Pearland; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Lovona 'Bobbie' Robison
Lovona "Bobbie" Robison, 83, died Monday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory, with the Rev. Don Greenway officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home of Brownwood. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. in Greenleaf Cemetery in Brownwood.
Mrs. Robison was born in Mills County and lived in Brownwood for many years. She was a retired beauty shop owner and operator and moved to Abilene in 1983. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Abilene and was the widow of Frank Robison, whom she married in 1935 in Blanket.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Pierce of Abilene; one sister, Elizabeth Thomas of Fort Worth; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Louis Johnson
VASHTI -- Louis Johnson, 83, father of an Abilene resident, died Monday in a Bowie nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Pleasant Mount Free Will Baptist Church in Buffalo Springs with the Rev. Mike Harris officiating. Burial will be in Vashti Cemetery, directed by Burgess-Fry-Owens-Brumley Funeral Home of Bowie.
Mr. Johnson was born in Henrietta and moved to Vashti in 1915. He married Pauline Estelle Barnett in 1934 in Montague and was a retired jet aircraft mechanic of Sheppard Air Force Base. He was a member of Pleasant Mound Free Will Baptist Church in Buffalo Springs.
Survivors include four daughters, Patsy McGhee and Linda Ramsey, both of Wichita Falls, Peggy Moore of Blossum and Mary Shythes of Abilene; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
