T. Joe Bailey
BROWNWOOD -- T. Joe Bailey, 82, lifelong Brown County resident, died Friday in a local nursing home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. R.J. Elkins officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Point Cemetery.
Mr. Bailey was born in Brown County and worked for Santa Fe Railroad. He was the widower of Thelma E. Huckaby Bailey, whom he married in 1935 in Brownwood.
Survivors include three sons, Walter L. Bailey of Goldthwaite, Roy E. Bailey of Fort Worth and Benny F. Bailey of Brownwood; two sisters, Eva Connoway and Inez Davis, both of Brownwood; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Thomas Jefferson Parsley
COMANCHE -- Thomas Jefferson Parsley, 76, died Friday in a Winnsboro hospital after a long illness.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Hall & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Boone officiating. Burial will be in Blanket Cemetery.
Mr. Parsley was born in Trail, Mo., and married Lula E. Stewart in 1941 in Durant, Okla. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and worked as a custodial services foreman for the Dallas school system for 35 years until retiring. He moved to Comanche in 1992 from Bangs and was a Pentecostal.
Survivors include his wife, of Comanche; one son, Lloyd Thomas Parsley of Combine; two daughters, Lula Garner and Nola Ann Parsley, both of Winnsboro; one brother, Carl Parsley of Missouri; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to a favorite charity.

Jack Lyle
BROWNWOOD -- Jack Lyle, 35, of McGregor and formerly of Brownwood, died Thursday in McGregor.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Grady Chastain and Billy Packer officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mr. Lyle was born in Brownwood, where he graduated from high school in 1980. He married Marlene Shaw in 1988 in Brownwood and moved to McGregor in 1992. He worked as a crew foreman for McLennan County Co-op and was a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, of McGregor; one daughter, Erika Alvarado of McGregor; two sons, Nicholas Lyle and Mark Lyle, both of McGregor; his parents, Martha Nelle Lyle and William R. Lyle, both of Brownwood; and two brothers, Bill Lyle of Charlotte, N.C., and Steve Lyle of Greenville, S.C.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. today in the funeral home.

Norma Vickers Matthews
EASTLAND -- Norma Vickers Matthews, 78, of Fort Worth and formerly of Eastland, died Thursday in a Fort Worth hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery.
Mrs. Matthews was born in Wolfe City and graduated from Eastland High School. She worked as a secretary for the 11th Court of Civil Appeals from 1950-59. She was a member of First Christian Church and was the widow of Sammy Matthews, whom she married in 1959 in Eastland.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Richard Vickers of Cisco; and several great nieces and great nephews.

J.E. 'Ernest' Counts
ROTAN -- J.E. "Ernest" Counts, 85, died Saturday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rotan Church of Christ. Burial will be in Rotan Cemetery, directed by Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Mr. Counts was born in Fisher County and lived most of his life in Stonewall and Fisher counties. He was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Church of Christ and was the widower of Lois Maynard Counts, whom he married in 1933 in Rotan.
Survivors include one son, Jimmy Counts of Rotan; one sister, Myrtle Dennis of Rotan; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Ona Belle Scott
Ona Belle Scott, 83, died Friday at a Dallas hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at North's Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 242 Orange, with Kenneth Jones officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Scott grew up in Abilene and graduated from Abilene High School. She worked at Abilene and Cooper high schools (food service) for more than 15 years and was a member of the Church of Christ. She lived in Seoul, South Korea, from 1994-1997, when she moved to Dallas. She married Ray Scott in 1932 in Abilene.
Survivors include one daughter, Judy Rae Bozarth of Cedar Hill; two grandsons and three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home from 6-7:30 p.m. today and at 1950 S. 20th.

Charles Earl Carroll
Charles Earl Carroll, 48, died Thursday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith Deliverance Church with Elder Tabor officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Curtis-Starks Funeral Home, 542 E.N. 7th.
Mr. Carroll was born in Arlington, Calif., and graduated from high school in Palm Springs, Calif.
Survivors include his mother, Velmary Carroll of California; and a host of other relatives.

Mary Hendricks
Mary B. Hendricks, 69, of Tye died Saturday at her home.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Elmwood Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 5750 Hwy. 277 South. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Tye Cemetery with the Rev. David Matz officiating.
Mrs. Hendricks was born in La Grulla and moved to Tye from Raymondville in August. She worked in the restaurant business for many years. She married Bennie J. Hendricks in 1949 in Corpus Christi; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include three daughters, Dora Bermea of Tye, Gloria Hinojosa of Rice and Janie Deleon of Victoria; one son, Johnny Hendricks of Raymondville; two brothers, Raymond Bermea of Tye and Jose Bermea of Massachusetts; two sisters, Barbara Bicker of Florida and Juanita Saldivar of Amarillo; 19 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Petra Rodela
Petra R. Rodela, 105, died Saturday at a local hospital.
A prayer service will be at 7 p.m. today at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Vincent Pallotti Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Rodela was born in Rio Grande, Zacatecas, Mexico, and moved to Abilene from Rochester in 1958. She was a homemaker and a Catholic. She married Petonilo Rodela in 1946 in Mexico; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Jesus Rodela of Corpus Christi and Raymundo Rodela of Abilene; three daughters, Santiaga Cantu of La Villa, Florinda Perez of Mercedes and Julia Ortiz of Abilene; 34 grandchildren, 120 great-grandchildren and 44 great-great-grandchildren.

Milton Burns
RISING STAR - Milton A. Burns, 84, died Saturday at an Abilene hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Rising Star Cemetery with Dean Bailey officiating, directed by Higginbotham Funeral Home.
Mr. Burns was born in Marque and moved to Abilene in 1948 and to Rising Star in 1997. He was a self-employed painter and a member of Oldham Lane Church of Christ in Abilene. He married Mildred LaVerne Owen in 1936 in Eastland County.
Survivors include his wife of Rising Star; one son, Milton Wayne Burns of Abilene; one daughter, Betty Ruth Mullis of Abilene; one sister, Marietta McKibben of May; one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
