Irene Hogan
BRECKENRIDGE - Irene Hogan, 98, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Christian Church with Charles Kuhn and the Rev. Johnny Miller officiating. Burial will be in Breckenridge Cemetery, directed by Melton Funeral Home.
Mrs. Hogan was born in Piney Fork, W.Va., and moved to Texas in 1919. She was a member of First Christian Church, Breckenridge Country Club and Breckenridge Square Dance Club and a charter and lifetime member of Breckenridge Garden Club. She married C. Frank Hogan in 1919 in New Martinsville, W.Va.; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty Jean Hellman of El Paso; two sons, John Hogan of Breckenridge and William Hogan of San Antonio; two sisters, Verna Ferrell of Columbus, Ohio, and Geneva Parks of New Martinsville; one brother, Frank Bartug of Maryland; 21 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorials to Meals on Wheels or Breckenridge Senior Citizens may be left at the funeral home.

Elizabeth Baldwin
HASKELL - Elizabeth Baldwin, 95, died Sunday at a Dallas nursing home.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Willow Cemetery with Dusty Garison officiating, directed by Holden-McCauley Funeral Directors.
Ms. Baldwin was born in Haskell, where she grew up and graduated from high school. She graduated from Texas Christian University with a degree in education and taught for 40 years, most of it in Houston. She was a member of East Dallas Christian Church.
Survivors include numerous nieces and nephews.

Alpha Smith
HAMLIN - Alpha Smith, 94, died Sunday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hamlin Church of the Nazarene with the Revs. Marshall Stewart, Randy Larpenter and Mike Howard officiating. Burial will be in Hamlin East Cemetery, directed by Foster-Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Brown County, moved to the Hamlin area in 1914 and attended rural Fisher County schools. She was a homemaker and a member of Hamlin Church of the Nazarene, where she taught the nursery class for 20 years. She married Euin Smith in 1921 in Fisher County; he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Ray Smith of Lake Buchanan; two daughters, Florene Butler of Snyder and Mildred Pitcock of Burleson; one brother, Charlie Messick of Rotan; nine grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Floyd 'Jack' Lewis
BROWNWOOD - Floyd D. "Jack" Lewis, 58, of Akron, Colo., and formerly of Brownwood, died Sunday in Colorado after a lengthy illness.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Blanket Cemetery with Chaplain Dick Williams officiating, directed by Heartland Funeral Home.
Mr. Lewis was a welder and a Baptist.
Survivors include one son, Glenn Aaron of Akron; one daughter, Sondra Lewis Diaz of Wray, Colo.; one sister, Debbie Lewis of Ohio; his mother, Dorothy Wiseman of Sarasota, Fla.; and four grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 2-4:30 p.m. today.

Dorothy 'Dottie Jo' Reynolds
BIG SPRING - Dorothy "Dottie Jo" Reynolds, 67, of Midland died Monday at a Midland hospital.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Memorial Park, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home.
Mrs. Reynolds was born in Menasates and lived in Big Spring from 1962 to 1974, when she moved to Midland. She worked at Ken's Rent-a-Center for a number of years until retiring. She also worked for Warfield Truck Stop and the U-Haul Rental in Midland. She was a Baptist.
Survivors include two sons, Stacy Reynolds of Midland and Earl Reynolds of Grand Prairie; two daughters, Dianna Carter of Simi Valley, Calif., and Glenda Gillihan of Big Spring; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Betty Jo Wilson
BROWNWOOD - Betty Jo Wilson, 69, died Monday at her home.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jay Swoveland officiating, directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
Mrs. Wilson was born in Brownwood and graduated from Brownwood High School. She graduated from Texas Tech University as a registered nurse and had a 35-year career in nursing, serving as director of nursing at several hospitals. She returned to Brownwood four years ago and was a Baptist. She married Raymond Wilson in 1949 in Lubbock.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; one daughter, Connie Rausch of Brownwood; one son, Jim Wilson of Denton; one sister, Jane Weatherby of Brownwood; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many other relatives.

George Carlile
BAIRD - George L. Carlile, 87, died Monday at an Abilene hospital after a sudden illness.
Services will be at 3 p.m. today at Parker Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Ross Cemetery Annex.
Mr. Carlile was born in Belle Plaine and lived in Callahan County most of his life. He was a rancher and cowboy and a member of Clyde Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, D'Ann Holson of Tuscola; one stepson, Harvey Christensen of Dallas; two sisters, Amy Albrecht of Cross Plains and Doris Wilson of Baird; five stepchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Mozell Vera Dyess Newberry
Mozell Vera Dyess Newberry, 89, died Monday in a local nursing home.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Sears Methodist Center Chapel with the Rev. Sue Rowlett officiating. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery in Enid, Okla. with the Rev. Lucinda Holmes officiating, directed by North's Funeral Home, 242 Orange.
Mrs. Newberry was born in Grand Saline and grew up in Fluvanna. She was a homemaker. She moved to Amarillo in 1932, Enid, Okla. in 1942 and Abilene in 1992. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Enid, Okla., and was the widow of Carl M. Newberry.
Survivors include one daughter, Darla McBroom of Lazbuddie; one son, M.R. "Newt" Newberry of Abilene; two sisters, Jewell Pinkerton of Snyder and Nannie L. Combs of Sweetwater; three brothers, Delma J. Dyess of Spur, Jimmie C. Dyess of Snyder and Lonnie V. Dyess of Grand Junction, Colo.; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Alvin 'Buster' Crawford
Alvin H. "Buster" Crawford, 73, died Sunday in a local hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Potosi Baptist Church. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory.
Mr. Crawford was born in Taylor County and graduated from Divide High School in 1942. He was a staff sergeant with the U.S. Army Infantry Division during World War II and received a Medal of Honor for saving the lives of six fellow troop members. He married Lois Shults in 1947 in Abilene. He worked as a masonry contractor for 50 years and buildings he helped construct were Belmont Baptist Church, Hendrick Hospital and First Baptist Church. He also was a rancher. He founded the Taylor County Range Riders Club in 1957. He worked with 4-H horse clubs, Wylie FFA students, and the Callahan County Riding Club and Taylor County Sheriff's Posse. The Taylor County Sheriff's Posse, of which he was a past officer, named a memorial award in his honor in 1990. He was a charter member of Belmont Baptist Church and, later, moved his membership to Potosi Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda Crawford Ammons of Abilene and Barbara Crawford Holt of Clyde; one brother, Donald Nelson Crawford; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Memorials may be sent to Potosi Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
