Homer Smith
EASTLAND -- Homer O. Smith, 90, of Tyler and formerly of Eastland County died Tuesday in Tyler.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Eastland First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kyle Glenn officiating. Burial will be in Eastland City Cemetery, directed by Edwards Funeral Home.
Mr. Smith was born in Eastland and graduated from Eastland High School, Cisco Junior College and McMurry College. He was a teacher and superintendent for many years in Eastland County. He worked as a clerk for the 11th Court of Appeals in Eastland for 29 years until retiring. He was a longtime Eastland County resident before moving to Tyler in 1995 and was active with the Lions Club, Masonic Lodge and Moslah Shriner's Temple for more than 50 years. He also was a Boy Scout leader. He was a member of and former administrative board chairman at Eastland First United Methodist Church and was the widower of Beulah Beth Williams Smith, whom he married in 1930 in Cisco.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. H. Don Smith of Tyler and Juan J. Smith of Utica, Mich.; two sisters, Nina Morrison of Moline, Ill., and Judy Williams of Fort Worth; one brother, Austin "Bud" Smith of Fort Worth; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Willie Golda Reed Brice
BROWNWOOD -- Willie Golda Reed Brice, 95, of Fort Worth and formerly of Brownwood, died Monday in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Brice was born in Lampasas County and was a homemaker. She moved to Fort Worth in 1961 from Sweeney. She was a member of Brownwood Chapter 119 of the Pythian Lodge since the 1940s and also was a member of Benbrook First Baptist Church. She was the widow of Herman Brice, whom she married in 1923 in Lampasas County.
Survivors include one daughter, Wilma Joyce of Fort Worth; one son, Bobby Earl Brice of Bay City; one brother, Gaylon Reed of Decatur; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Rev. Sam Partee
BIG SPRING - The Rev. Sam Partee, 73, died Tuesday in a local hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Big Spring with Dr. Ed Williamson officiating, directed by Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 3 p.m. at Bradshaw Cemetery in Bradshaw.
Mr. Partee was born May 10, 1924, in Hill County and married Rose Best on July 3, 1964, in Bradshaw.
Mr. Partee grew up and attended school in Colorado City. He was affiliated with the Central Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church and pastored United Methodist churches in the Central Texas area until retiring in 1990. He was also a World War II veteran of the United States Navy.
Survivors include his wife, Rose Partee of Big Spring; three daughters, Patricia Vanover, Jeanett Ross and Becky Rodriguez, all of Odessa; three sons, Tommy Partee of Sumpter, Ore., Devin Partee and Richard Partee, both of Abilene; three sisters Alma Bishop of Colorado City, Roxie Phillips of Early and Jewell Purvis of Cross Plains; and 19 grandchildren.

Catherine Bell Carey Brown
Catherine Bell Carey Brown, 62, died Tuesday at her residence.
Graveside services will be today at 1 p.m. at Newman Cemetery with Joe Smith officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Mrs. Brown was born in Cisco and had lived in Abilene for 17 years, moving here from Fort Worth. She married Bruce G. Brown on Dec. 24, 1955, in Odessa. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce, of Abilene; three sons, Mark Spivey of Virginia Beach, Va., Johnny Mac Brown and Anthony Bruce Brown of Dallas; two daughters, June Lucretia Smith and Kimberly Violet Dodd, both of Abilene; three brothers, Jack Carey and Leroy Carey, both of Arkansas, and Jerry Glenn Carey of McCauley; a sister, June Hindman of Sylvester and 13 grandchildren.

Warren C. Judd
Warren C. Judd, 77, died Wednesday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Potosi Cemetery with the Rev. H.G. Barnard officiating, directed by Elliot-Hamil Funeral Home.
Mr. Judd was born in Potosi and had lived there all his life, attending school in Elmdale. He married Frieda Royal in 1942 in Pampa and served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a service station operator and a Baptist.
Survivors include his wife, Frieda, of Abilene; a stepson, Harvey Hutton of Alhambra, Calif.; two sisters, Willie Mae Antilley and Pauline Judd, both of Abilene.

Lois Marie Baker Lackey
Lois Marie Baker Lackey, 81, died Wednesday in a Fort Worth nursing center.
Services will be today at 2 p.m. in Elliott-Hamil Chapel of Memories with the Revs. Danny Thompson and George Ivy officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Lackey was born in Cedar Gap where she attended school. She was the widow of J.B. Lackey, whom she married in 1933 in Anson. She lived in Abilene all her life, except the last four years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors include three sons, Lawrence William Lackey of San Antonio, Lester Preston Lackey of Abilene and Donald Ray Lackey of Weatherford; a daughter, Betty A. Ingram of Abilene and 12 grandchildren.

Ben D. Kniffen
Ben D. Kniffen, 71, died Thursday at a local hospital.
Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Potosi Cemetery with Weldon Gann officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home.
Mr. Kniffen was born in Abilene and attended Abilene public schools. He married Georgia Parker in Abilene on Dec. 16, 1944. He was employed by Haliburton for 35 years and was a member of the 16th and Vine Church of Christ. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #559.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia Kniffen, of Abilene; two sons, David R. Kniffen of Dallas and Bennie G. Kniffen of Fort Worth; one daughter, Debra Kniffen of Abilene; three sisters, Gertrude Amersen of Dallas, Edna Roberts of Abilene and June Bollinger of Aurora, Co.; and four grandchildren.

Geneva Leard
Geneva Leard, 84, died Thursday at Canterbury Villa.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Joe Philpott officiating.
Mrs. Leard was born Sept. 13, 1913, in Post Oak. She married Roscoe F. Leard on Oct. 11, 1930, in Snyder. She was a homemaker and member of the Baptist church and Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include her husband, Roscoe F. Leard, of Cisco, and one brother, Cecil Ray Brown of Houston.

Lynette Fincher Myers
Lynette Fincher Myers, 72, of Palestine, a native and former resident of Albany, died Wednesday morning in Austin Diagnostic Medical Center after a 23-day illness with cancer.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Palestine. A memorial to be held later in Albany is pending.
Mrs. Myers was born April 14, 1925, in Albany, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theron P. Fincher. She lived in Fort Griffin before moving with her parents to Albany where she graduated from Albany High School in 1941.
Mrs. Myers was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She was recently installed as Moderator-Elect for Presbyterian Women in Grace Presbytery as part of the Fall Gathering held in Palestine in November 1997.
She was director of the 1997 Synod of the Sun Women's Conference in May at Lyon College in Batesville, Ark.
She is survived by a son, Mike Myers of Palestine; three daughters, Deborah Denson of Houston, Marcy Myers of Palestine and Kelly Weaver of Henderson; a sister, Barbara Craig Kelly of Abilene; a brother, E.D. "Buddy" Fincher, and six grandchildren.
